Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a lovely meal the food is really good and decor is nice. However service was poor. They did not fill my glass of wine up and I had to do this myself with the bottle. Paying a lot of money one would expect the...glass to be topped up. I over hear the staff talking about there personal stuff and laughing which is not professional. Found staff a bit direct not the service I was expecting. Wouldn't be in a rush to go back.More

This is an attractive location in the heart of Edinburgh. The menu had various options and we chose the da alley portion options which were generous. Service was professional and friendly. Food was delicious and carefully presented. We couldn’t help but be impressed.

My and husband and I were so lucky to come across this resturant when we shopping in the street. Very grateful for the staff for squeezing us in as they were full and ofcourse we didn't have a booking. We loved every bit of it....Yes it is alittle pricy but you will get what you pay for , great food, great ambience, friendly staff and a memorable dinner!More

Came here on my birthday whilst staying in Edinburgh.Really good seafood and friendly staff. I had squid to start and it was possibly the best I've ever had. Only slight criticism that portions were quite small considering it was quite pricey and partners meal was...swimming in garlic butter, but he enjoyed seafood.More

Another great visit. We enjoyed some bread and herby oil to start and then had the delicious smoked haddock & salmon fish cakes. We were eating again later so just had a light lunch on this occasion. Very good service, really friendly staff. The white...wine we shared was perfect to accompany our food. Can’t wait to return.More

Been to this city centre restaurant many, many times over many years. It has consistently been excellent and always was and still is the best city centre restaurant - my opinion of course. In a sea of overhyped 'big name' chefs and chain restaurants, it...remains as good as it gets in Edinburgh city centre. The staff are very friendly and very knowledgable re food on menus. For fish and seafood, this is the place to go. The atmosphere and layout of the restaurant is very good too.More

Hard to find fault here. Staff pleasant and good service throughout is a great way to start any dining experience. A seafood menu to tempt anyone and almost too many delightful choices to make a quick decision....a nice problem to have. The halibut was outstanding....Good value all round including a reasonably priced wine list. Definitely a place to return to.More

Delicious seafood and accommodating and delightful service. From the moment we arrived the team was delightful. Every TV big we ate was amazing! Oysters, mussels, salmon, and a crab salad were all enjoyed by the group. The portions are generous! Cocktails also tasty. Group enjoyed...cosmos, wine and an expression martini. Service was spot on even as they were wanting to close up. Highly recommend if you are in the area! Easy to access from new and old town and super walkable! Made for a fun last dinner in Edinburgh!More

Lovely experience recently on a Saturday night having dinner at Fishers in the City. Dinner was outstanding and the service was outstanding as well. We were seated promptly but we weren't rushed at all throughout our dinner. The wine list was good. I would go...back there again if I am ever lucky enough to revisit Edinburgh. A reservation is a must.More

I think the cheapest is about £18. Lots below £25. You can get a set menu at lunch so more to spend on wine :-)
