Wow this place is amazing. Beautiful food and fantastic service. We had the 7 course taster menu and it was delicious the flavours and portion sizes were incredibly well judged. Been to Michelin starred restaurants that weren't as good as this restaurant. Highly recommended

At last managed to get back for a visit to my home area and booked a return visit to Purslane. I have always had lovely dining experiences here and this time was no exception. The cosy restaurant was absolutely booked full and I was glad...More

We visited Purslane on a September Tuesday night. We couldn't have been more impressed! Small, intimate, noise level just right. Food and service were beyond expectations. We are fortunate to have dined many places around the world and Purslane is simply, world class. Our next...More

We were recommended to come here when we visited Edinburgh. We stopped by at 8:55pm and they said they were closed. Website and hours posted on building say 11:30.

This restaurant is tiny, I mean really tiny, like smaller than some peoples lounge tiny! In the basement of one of Stockbridge many floored beautiful Victorian buildings sits this gem of a restaurant. Look down at your feet when you arrive or you may never...More

Tucked away in the middle of the hustle & bustle of Stockbridge, Purslane is definitely a hidden gem. It is a small intimate restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. The service was great, the waiters were attentive and we were well treated. I had the duck...More

Another fantastic birthday celebration at Purslane. We have been numerous times but currently love the scallops and duck that’s on the menu. Yesterday was my partners 30th so we took his parents who said they had never experienced anything like this before. Great food, accompanying...More

Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling
a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s
small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s
first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s
most desirable, though many bohemian touches have
fallen away as its residents have matured and the area
has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but
mostly residents display refined tastes in basement

Hello due to the premises license children under 6 can’t eat in the restaurant but if they are older they are more than welcome to dine at night.

No, it's in the lower ground floor of a building and has stone steps down to it, which is unfortunate if you are not so able bodied as its a great restaurant.
