Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Booked online after much research, only to then get a phone call saying they were fully booked! Don't allow a booking if you're fully booked! Very annoying. Won't try again, on the naughty list.

Excellent food and ambience. Host/server was knowledgeable, friendly and had great suggestions. Evening was quiet but it was a Tuesday. Many delivery/takeout orders seemed to be picked up as well

Fantastic, flavoursome, fresh meals. Often curries are heavy with ghee but these were wonderfully light and the flavours really shone through. We had the garlic chilli chicken, the masu lamb and the 21 spice chicken, all delightful. Definitely coming here again.

I don't usually review restaurants, but sometimes you just have to. I'm travelling from Australia through Europe and the UK. You have to eat out a lot on such a trip and we've had some truly woeful curries, and if I see fish and chips...again, I will scream. In Edinburgh we walked past The Everest in the Bruntsfield area (not far from Castle etc). The word Indian wasn't remarkable but saw Nepalese in the description of food. It looked clean and well presented and there were some locals dining there. Once we were seated, could hear the pings of the online orders coming in....another good sign. We didn't want much to eat, so skipped starters. We chose two main dishes a chicken Jaipuri and a Mushroom Do Piyaza together with a garlic naan and plain rice. Sounds simple enough, but those two dishes were shining examples. Curries tend to sometimes be generic and a blanket tasting sauce. These two dishes looked similar but the difference and nuance in taste was amazing. You could taste all the aromatics and they had been cooked so sensitively and not boiled to a pulp. Seriously good food. And the rice was perfect and plentiful. Often you have to beg for enough rice (amirite??) but we had heaps. The garlic naan was huge and nicely seasoned with beautiful garlicky buttery taste. We don't really drink and just wanted tap water. No problem. A cold bottle arrived with two glasses complete with a slice of lime and ice. So kindly offered and not the begruding warm water and empty glass you get most places. Do yourself a favour and if you are in Edinburgh and want some finely worked indian/nepalese food, or any hearty meal or even a small one, don't go past The Everest. Very resonably priced too. Best pick of our trip!! (Sorry no pics but beautifully presented.....I tucked in to eat so fast I didn't think of photographingMore

We've been loyal customers since the start of the pandemic, when we happened upon Everest in our search for good Indian takeaway. We've never looked back! Food quality is excellent, portion sizes are generous, and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Our favourite Edinburgh...curry place by a country mile. If eating in I would highly recommend the lamb shank. We may no longer live at 65 St Leonard's Street but that doesn't mean we'll stop eating your delicious curry!More
