Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a lovely meal here on Saturday. There were enough of us that we were lucky enough to get seated in one of there brand new booths (although all the tables look great), we felt really comfortable and the way it’s situated it’s almost like...a private little space. The refit is absolutely beautiful, they have been really thoughtful about what you need in a restaurant to make it an enjoyable experience. I particularly liked the new cutlery and seats! There a lots of subtle but lovely choices to reflect Chinese culture and customs like the picture above the curved booth or the depictions of the seasons but without being too much or tacky. thoughts about how people use the restaurant like the water wall that give privacy to the tables there from the entrance but without blocking you behind a wall. Food was excellent. We had one vegetarian and another diner who is very sensitive to spice both of whom were accommodated and found plenty of choices. Service was done very well. Enough that we didn’t feel ignored or have to wait when we needed something but not too intrusive either. We all left with full belly’s and having had a great night out! Thanks we will definitely be back.More

Just incredible service from start to finish. So polite, engaging, knowledgeable. An advert for trying somewhere new. Food also epic. Again. Well done to all involved.

7 of us went to the newly refurbished Chinese Manor House yesterday evening and it was absolutely brilliant. All the dishes were really tasty and generous portions. Staff were so friendly and attentive throughout.

This was our first time back to the Chinese Manor House since it recently re-opened after a refurbishment was undertaken. It was a fairly busy early evening meal time, however this was not reflected in the very high degree of fantastic service we received from...all staff we encountered and interacted with, throughout the time we were in the restaurant. The menu is well balanced with a good option choice and the food we received was excellent. We considered the cost involved was not excessive. Would have no issues in strongly recommending this restaurant, to both family and friends.More

As always this restaurant is a delight to visit. Staff are always friendly and courteous. The food is excellent and delicious. The restaurant has just undergone a refurbishment and has been well worth waiting for. It is a lovely environment to sit in, relax and...spend time enjoying excellent dishes. It goes without saying that I highly recommend visiting the Chinese Manor House. It would be a major miss to pass by and not pop in.More

We visited our favourite Chinese restaurant on their re-opening evening following a full refurbishment. The restaurant was lovely prior to this but now it is absolutely stunning. The food as always was absolutely delicious with an extensive menu, very reasonable prices and very generous portions....The team at The Manor House work hard to make your visit special, and they certainly succeed. We would highly recommend a visit here whenever possible. We personally make a 65 mile round trip to eat here, it is without doubt worth the effort.More

Do not bother, spent £50 on a takeaway only to get up the road and they had forgotten one of the mains they said I could come back to collect but by then everything else would be cold, and refused to deliver, so my daughter...had to eat a frozen pizza when everyone else had what was barely edible of the takeaway, I will be as fair as I can be considering their awful customer service. Szechuan beef was severely lacking in beef, although what was there was tough, if you love mushroom you should order this. 3/10 Chicken in black bean, probably the nicest dish there was although it was more of a black bean soup 5/10 Salt and chilli wings, soggy and tasteless 1/10 Saly and chilli ribs, these come battered which is just absolutely bizarre, it made them greasy and again tasteless. Salt and chilli chips absolutely soggy and again tasteless, how can you make salt and chilli so bland? 1/10 Crispy chicken rolls, definitely crispy, definitely chicken(I hope so) definitely tasteless. 1/10 Fried rice, decent although lacked egg. 8/10 Chicken noodle soup, lots of soup very little chicken, although very tasty 8/10 Mixed curry(chicken and beef) I can only assume this would be heavenly going by the rest of the food, but since they DIDN'T BOTHER including it, I guess I will never know. You owe us £7.90, absolute daylight robberyMore

My husband picked up a takeaway meal for us. He got the lemon chicken which was fine I got the sliced duck with ginger and spring onion. There was very little meat in it. It was mostly fat and the ginger was overpowering I couldn’t...eat it. I phoned them up and I told her that I couldn’t eat it and I wanted my money back £8.50 and she refunded it back to me. I didn’t want to do this because we have been going there for a number of years and we have never had a problem before. I should have ordered the chicken and mushroom which is what I usually get but I thought I would get something different bad mistake I hope it was just a one off but I don’t recommend the duckMore

My Wife and I have been to this Chinese restaurant many times, I can only say that on each and every occasion the only word to use is excellent, and I don’t say this lightly! As on this occasion the staff are very friendly and...quite happy to have a conversation with you, always happy to discuss the menu but are certainly not overbearing. The food without question is delicious, and on each and every visit consistently so. You don’t feel rushed when the food is served, the menu is quite extensive and the prices very reasonable, I do often hear at other restaurants people complaining about prices, but not at the Chinese Manor, you simply get what you pay for! I would highly recommend the restaurant. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.More

We ordered a Delivery so no comments on service or decoration. Timing: Brilliant. I don’t know if we got lucky bit the food arrived just as indicated. Quality & flavour: it was very good. I was not expecting such a nice Chinese meal in Edinburgh....Every single dish we ordered, but one was very good. The one that has a lot of room for improvement was the spring rolls. The dough they use (it was probably bought in a box of frozen rolls) is too thick and it come with no sauce to deep it in. So you had to drink quite a bit to wash it down. Overall: we were very and we will be ordering from them again.More

We had a take away on Saturday 24 June and it was, without doubt, the worst we have had. We ordered 3 chicken dishes (Satay, Lemon & King Po) all of which were hard and over cooked and "chewy". The salt and chili chips were...appalling - so re-heated that there was close to no potato left in the hard shell - so bad (even visually) that I cannot believe any self respecting chef allowed them to leave the kitchen. They would most definitely not have been served had we dined in - where they would be seen and sent back immediately. Pretty certain all of the dishes were re-heated and not freshly prepared. Really disappointing and easily the worst we have experienced. If I could score Zero I would.More
