I had a lovely meal last night in Kushi's. I didn't realise it was byob until I tried to order wine and was politely informed they didn't sell alcohol. As my friend and I had arrived early and the rest of our party hadn't arrived, we nipped across to the grocers shop and bought a couple of bottles. The staff... More

So just an observation: I wrote a post about a week ago about how poor the curry was in this restaurant and following my review it was removed. I would strongly urge you to reconsider going here. I went on a date and had the butter chicken .. well what they contended was butter chicken. It was absolutely awful. I... More

We had the best Indian meal ever! Take your own drink and no corkage charge, they even provided a bucket of ice for the wine. Lovely friendly service, we had lots of different foods to share for both starter and main, they were very helpful advising what to choose. Excellent value for money.

Standards appear to have slipped. I've been a fan of Khushi's for well over a decade - through various incarnations; Original Khushi's sadly no more; and Mithas in Leith - a foray into Indian fine dining which was legendary. The point here. I've been an advocate. A fan. A champion of the brand. Sadly, dinner on Monday evening was disappointing.... More

Dear Pedalpower, Many thanks for your undying support over the years and we apologise for the experience you had on your last visit. Unfortunately accidents like this do happen (rarely) and although we quickly removed the dish and did our best to rectify the situation we can see the process for translating the changes onto the bill can be improved... Would highly recommend giving the monkfish a try it was cooked to perfection! Our eyes were a little bigger than our stomachs, ended up getting a doggy bag. Will definitely be coming back.

We visited for dinner, our first meal in Glasgow and we are glad we visited! The food was delicious! We had fish pakora and tandoori lamb chops as a starter. The lamb chops were really delicious - our only regret was that there were only 3 pieces. We had lamb karahi and chicken saag. Both pretty good. My husband really... More

We didn't choose Khushi. It just happened to be next door and convenient for us 10 Indians traveling in Europe for almost 10 days to get one hot desi meal. We were booked for 2030. On our arrival, we saw that the table was set - pleased. One thing that we weren't pleased about was the noisy customers. Khushi had... More

OMG!!!! Wow!!! Loved it. Not been here for ages and I had forgotten just how damn good it is. Not the biggest menu I've ever seen but to be honest, who cares when the food is this good. I had the tandoori mixed grill, a garlic nan and a mango lassi.....quite simply the best tandoori I've ever had (and I've... More

Kushis is right in the middle of the city center. Just 10 mins away from Princes street. If you fancy Indian food, please do pay a visit. Awesome food. Last time we visited, we mostly had vegetarian food. Briyani was great and so was the panneer starter.

Went on Sunday and had a very nice meal during our visit to Edinburgh. You have to take your own beer and wine but this was not a problem as plenty of shops nearby that sell them. Food was very good and service levels adequate. Would go again if next in area.

Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighbourhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighbourhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicentre Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
