I only came in for a wee dram, so didn't try the food, but the menu looks good. Good selection of draft drinks and the standard Scottish wall of whisky, all at reasonable prices. As a stranger, I felt really comfortable here.

I stopped in for the fish and chips and made a point to come back two more times. Once for the Steak and Ale pie, and once for Haggis beef olives. Each meal was well worth the price and the service is quick.

We have been coming here a couple of times a year for quite a while now as it is central and easy to get to for anyone coming in on the bus or train. It is quite a quiet bar with sport on the tv so a good place to have a conversation without having to shout. Seating is comfortable... More

I ate a chicken pie here very delicious! It was only one woman serving and organizing everything but she was very efficient... and friendly, too.

The pub has a mix of banquettes and bar stools. There are also slot machines which attracted young lads. The bar menu is fairly standrad but the food we had was tasty enough. Lots of TVs for sports with multiple channels. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere.

We have been going here on and off for probably the last thirty years, but the barman's attitude here tonight Sunday 26/2 has put us off for life. The bar wasn't at all busy, and we watched the barman, I think he had an Irish accent, proceed to blatantly serve two separate people who had come in well after us,... More

Visited the Grosvenor last week for drinks with friends. This is a quaint victorian type pub that does do food, unfortunately we were only there for drinks so cannot comment on the food - other than to say that those around us appeared to be enjoying theirs- as all had empty plates!! We found the bar staff friendly and exceptionally... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
