Near the Scottish parliament and Holyrood Palace, the Kilderkin is a neighborhood pub far from the bustle of the Mile just a few blocks up. Very good real ale selection. I didn’t try the food. If you’re looking for a quiet place for a drink...More

On our last day in Edinburgh, we found this random place at Royal Mile, an it was a suprisingly pleasent evening. The staff (and even the guests) were really friendly! Fun & entertaining game night too (for a good cause!), i think they have it...More

The pub is a bit touristic, as it is on the Royal Mile, but the interior is nice and there are lots of drafts ales. I ordered the triple sausage with mashed potatoes (see photo below). It was really good but it took very long...More

We sat in a charming booth and the pot of tea I ordered was perfect for the chilly rainy day. The vegetable soup with barley was fresh and hearty. I split a sandwich with my husband and it was still too much but I loved...More

We really enjoyed getting a quick bite here before touring Holyrood Palace. It is cozy and the food is good and filling. I highly recommend a sandwich or wrap with the soup of the day (we had potato and leek and it was delicious!). Perfect...More

While the menu is a little quirky (crocodile pizza anyone?) the service and taste are top notch. They are made fresh to order and very reasonably priced! Recommended!

Fantastic bar, staff, range, and great pizzas! We had a great time learning about new whiskies and sampling beers. This is a must for any travelling tourist or local alike! Will return!

Bar staff spent most of the evening (between 10 and 12am at least) in the back room trying their best to ignore people ordering drinks. Not the most welcoming vibe. Also, the price of soft drinks is pretty extortionate, not very considerate of designated drivers.

My wife and I were in Edinburgh and when I went out on my own I happily stumbled on this place. It’s at the foot of the Royal Mile but is not a tourist stop. It is a great pub that offers locally brewed ales...More
