Mamma Roma Restaurant is a family run restaurant and was founded in 1996 by Mennato Mastrocinque and his father Giovanni. Giovanni Mastrocinque started his first restaurant when he first moved to North Berwick in 1981. His restaurant (still standing now) is called Bella Italia and is located in North Berwicks High Street. The restaurant has been serving its loyal North Berwick residents and tourists for over 30 years now. A few years later, after openning Bella Italia, Giovannis son, Mennato Mastrocinque, moved to Scotland in 1985 after finishing his studies in Italy. During summer vacations he would visit his father in North Berwick and would help in the restaurant. He learned the trade very

So much choice of Italian dining in Edinburgh we took a punt on Mamma Roma and we are so glad we did. Great welcome, great service and excellent food. We were a party of 4, we had two courses, 2 bottles of wine and finished...with Limoncello shots. The bill total with tip was £150, excellent value. Would I return………., hell yesMore

We were a party of 5 who had thankfully pre-booked, quite a while ago! The restaurant is busy and buzzing and has a great atmosphere. The staff are friendly and efficient. There’s so much to choose from on the menus and everything we had was...delicious. Thank you for a lovely evening, highly recommended.More

We were staying for a few days in Edinburgh and our hotel was literally just over the road. I'd read the reviews and thought as it was mid-week no need to book we'll just turn up, were so lucky to get a table as it...was pretty busy but they did manage to fit us in. The garlic bread was different to what we expected, it wasn't pizza based, it was thick cut bread pieces and was so different and a nice surprise to usual. We had a salmon & prawn pizza and linguine saporite, the seafood was amazing. We didn't have room for pudding. Excellent food, friendly staff, good atmosphere and excellent value for money. If you're in the area I'd definitely recommend and we'll be visiting again when we're back in the area.More

Visited here yesterday having booked weeks ago for after visit to theatre, and solely on good reviews on tripadvisor. First of all table allocated was poor, draught from door. Very disappointed in food as did not live up to expectations from some of the reviews....The brushetta was average and the Melanzane parmigiana was lacking flavour and lukewarm. Pasta was overcooked and also tepid to say the least, my daughter in law had a chicken dish which she did not rate highly either. The only thing in favour here was the extremely polite and friendly waiters, and I have given one extra star on their behalf. I have dined in many great Italian Restaurants, but unfortunately this was not one of them. I won't be back.More

We had a fabulous meal here, our children had pizza off the kids menu and it was huge, neither of them could finish it. The portions were great and so tasty. The staff were really helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

We came across Mama Roma whilst visiting Edinburgh We originally tried the restaurant on the upper floor only to be greeted by a rather grumpy waiter confirming no tables were available We noticed the smaller restaurant on the lower floor and received a warm welcome...by Louisa Service was quick, food was delicious - starter, 2 drinks and 2 mains - £41 Would definitely recommend the lower restaurant Credit to Louisa for being a great host - her colleague upstairs could learn a lot from her about the importance of a warm welcome and a smile !!!More

Really good Italian food, I had the Risotto Mare and was pleasantly suprised by the diversity of seafood in the dish. Went here with 4 of my friends, they all had the Spagegtti Polpett, the Lasagna, and the Salmon-Tomato pasta that I cannot remember the...name of. For appetizers we had two servings of Bruchetta and the Calamari. The waiters were quick, polite, and hospitable. Would dine here again. Almost forgot to mention I had the best Lemon Sorbet of my life here.More

Managed to get a booking on a busy Saturday evening and was pleased with our choice. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and the food was top notch, although let time by the poor quality of the chips which l know isn’t a key...ingredient of Italian food but if you are going to offer chips please make them of a reasonable standard. Other than that the place is well recommended.More
