A fantastic small bistro. Wholesome tasty food and homemade desserts to die for. The Lemon Meringue pie was excellent.

We sat at a table for four in mid-afternoon on a Friday. The place was busy and we had to wait about five minutes for a table. But the wait was by far worth the wait. The menu was extensive and the service was efficient...and brisk. There was no hassle whatsoever, yet we were allowed to take our own time. We each chose something different to drink and to eat, mainly from the delicious cakes and pastries although the full menu was available.More

My wife and I went for an evening meal here having read the reviews as it was close to where we were stopping. A very clean and nicely decorated restaurant. The choices for starters, mains and especially desserts is wide. For starters I had halloumi on...ciabatta with salad. My main was the pan fried salmon in a tarragon hollandaise sauce which was superb. For dessert I had a very lovely piece of lemon meringue pie. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant. Very pleasant and efficient staff and we were made to feel very welcome. Going to go back for breakfast. Nice touch bottles of hand sanitizer on each table.More

Our friends took us here for lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Great staff and wonderful menu. The food is excellent. Smaller portions are available for some mains and I would recommend them - leaves room for one of the delicious puddings. Good location...right on the front overlooking the lighthouse. Highly recommend.More

On our recent staycation to 'Newhaven, where we had both done already the 'Fishmarket chippy, et al, which we both felt was much over hyped! using the 'Emperor's New Clothes, as an analogy spring to mind! anyway, I digress we were searching for an alternative...eatery, when we both happen-chanced upon 'Porto & Fi' of an early evening, which was a huge surprise to us both as mature travellers, I would suggest it was a very much understated 'Bistro/Restaurant, even upmarket with the choice of beverages/soft drinks being 'Fentiman's and I did even espy a bottle of 'Bundaberg Ginger beer being served to a thirsty customer, strewth! reminiscent of our numerous visits to the Antipodes, enough of my ramblings. We both ordered smaller options in the mains section of the menu, those being one 'Fish Pie with a leek mash & side salad, whereas I myself enjoyed a small 'Fresh Fish Goujons, with curly fries, lemon & home made tartare sauce, and though it was classed a being small it certainly sated both of our appetites, it was beautifully cooked and also beautifully presented, they say people eat with their eyes, and this evening meal certainly met that criteria, and to top it all the staff were absolutely lovely, I highly recommend this much understated Bistro/Restaurant.More

We were recommended this place by a chap at the nearby fish market who advertise morning coffee and pasties but it was takeaway only and had no pasties !! Their loss, we sat outside Porto and fi and ordered a couple of coffees and breakfast...rolls, we were offered blankets as it was chilly but we were fine , very nice fresh warm roll and good fillings , good coffee and the staff are excellent and very friendly, I’d have come at night if I’d known about it.More
