I can't imagine a visit of Edinburgh without a dinner in this restaurant. Great beer, excellent food and quite friendly staff. Definitely recommended.

My wife and I visited Edinburgh on a day trip recently and having visited some great pubs on Rose Street in the past we decided to give the Kenilworth a go. This was our first visit to this establishment but it certainly won't be our last. The staff were helpful and friendly, the Tennants lager spot on and the food... More

Only popped into The Kenilworth near the end of the night but as we hadn't been here before thought we'd give it a try. Nice enough. Unusual bar set up being central in the pub. Toilets left a lot to be desired though! However probably pop in again next time in Edinburgh.

Just popped in for a quick drink on our way back to hotel. Clean surroundings. If hungry, food available.

Outside seating chilly in the early spring but the star were friendly and the beer decent. Didn't spend a lot of time inside to make much of a review but will go back next time in on rose street.

Thanks for your comments, Duncan, much appreciated. If I could make the weather warmer, believe me I would! Hopefully we'll get enough of a summer to make the outside a better option... Thanks again, Neil and team More

Went here for dinner and a couple of drinks with the wife after a day of wandering around the centre of Edinburgh. The decor is very much "old School" Scottish boozer, and certainly not the biggest bar in terms of area, and feels like a wee step back in time being in here. Despite not being that busy, the pub... I recently visited bar for a quiet drink and some food and ended up staying all evening because of the fantastic sevice I experienced from one of the bar staff(I believe his name was Paul). He was extremely welcoming and dispensed a wealth of knowledge about the city (which I really appreciated as a first time visitor to the city).... More

By far the most miserable barmen we came across on our weekend away. Only spent an hour in here on Sunday evening and was very happy to find a gang of North Walians [older in years] singing Welsh songs. Not a lout in sight but the barmen were very rude, surly and sulky! One even rushed out and slammed the... More

What a beautiful little watering hole, love the décor and loved the food. we found the staff to be fab and the food came out hot and was absolutely gorgeous. We were up for the game also but didn't get in there after the match, we were in the night before and had no probs at all.

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
