Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Another excellant meal at Three Birds. So good we returned for brunch two days later. We have eaten here several times over the last year, on our visits to Edinburgh, and have never been disappointed with any element of the experience. Good food, lovely staff...and great atmosphere. Always a great choice of dishes beautifully presented. I’m not sure we’ll ever be able to visit Edinburgh without a visit to Three Birds.More

Amazing food at a relaxed neighbourhood bistro. Pigeon breast was perfectly flavoured, Venison was miraculously succulent (perfect for cold November evenings) and ice-creams are a delicious and unusual. Lovely friendly service. A gem!

Good value for money, great service and lovely food. I just keep coming back. Great to see the updated menu - the prawns with noodles were divine!

Still one of my old favourites of Edinburgh. Not pretentious - just 1. Delicious crowd pleasing food; and 2. Excellent personable service. 3. Cozy ambiance and tasteful decor It’s rare that I choose to go the same restaurant more than once but this is one...of the few. Even with my high expectations from previous experiences, it still didn’t disappoint. This time, we shared the feta dip for a starter which was packed full of flavour. I then had the lamb which was cooked perfectly pink. The side of a bag of chips was definitely not needed but we were not complaining. Rum baba desert was amazing - like a unique sticky toffee pudding but on steroids. Would recommend swapping the vanilla ice cream with their coconut ice cream to match. Keep up the tremendous work!More

We could only get a table at 9 because we had left it too late to book on a Saturday night - but this was genuinely a meal worth waiting for. The place was buzzing, a big party was celebrating but there were several smaller...tables where the spirit was just as festive. The wait staff were just delightful, quippy and interested, engaged and deeply invested in us having a fabulous evening. The gluten free offering was brilliant - reassuringly straight forward and confidently explained. I had the delicious venison which was an extraordinary combination of flavour, my companion had the risotto and it was so yummy, I wasn't allowed even a mouthful. I am only sorry we discovered the on our last night in the city. Would recommend.More

There aren’t enough superlatives to describe the wonderful quality of food, atmosphere and service 3 birds offers. Glass bottles of soft drink, finally somewhere offers this luxury! Even the tiny pieces of balsamic shallot in the olive oil that came with the sourdough bread were...divine. I had the haggis bonbons served with watercress, pickle and the most sumptuous chive mayonnaise. To follow one of the best risottos I’ve ever had, plenty of dill and creamy Parmesan. For a busy Sunday our waitress was very attentive and helpful. We are I’ll definitely be back. New favourite.More

Tiny place full of character. Pleasant staff and management. The menu promises a lot but the execution of the dishes leaves a bit to be desired. With a lot more cooking expertise, this could be a real gem. However, having that, the place attracts a...lot of diners in search for something different from the run of the mill.More

A very enjoyable lunch in a relaxed atmosphere but with excellent service and food. The range of choices on the menu would suit anyone. I noticed lots of vegan options too. I enjoyed a delicious asparagus starter and a chicken dish in a pea broth...with chorizo. Fantastic flavours and everyone freshly prepared. Everything I would want from a lunch with a friend and it was very reasonably priced. Must go more often !More

Delightful food and service! Couldn’t have asked for more, we were meeting up with some visiting American pals and we were all fed well and looked after. Big up to our lovely server in the Golden Girls T-shirt, rich in people skills a jolly good...laugh! We had the Big Coo and it was so nice that I didn’t know or care what the others were having - but they loved their meals too! (Ok I did care, one was beef brisket and the other was a yummy veggie thing!) Recommended, and thanks!More

We were fortunate to get seating without reservation. Amazing food, great staff, & allergy friendly. From the appetizer, main dish, to dessert, the taste is spot on. The decor is chic and simple. Check it out, you won’t be disspointed.

Absolutely wonderful from the moment we stepped in the door. We booked a table for 2 on Easter Sunday afternoon for the evening. The venue is simple and unassuming but wow what a treat we were in for! When we arrived we received a very...warm welcome and the service continued to be friendly, amusing and accommodating. We chose a starter to share (theoretically to reserve an appetite for a desert) The menu was very enticing and it was difficult to choose. We chose the venison and fillet of beef for our main courses which were absolutely devine with perfect accompaniments of sauces and vegetables. All were cooked to perfection and we had to compliment the chef. The wine list was extensive enough and came in optional quantities so that you could choose a different wine for each course. We were fully sated by the end of our main course and were unable to have a desert. At about £100 the bill wasn’t cheap but we feel the experience was well worth it and will be back.More

Had an excellent birthday lunch here. Friendly and attentive service. Relaxed atmosphere. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, bread and snacks to start. Delicious sea bass and stir fry for mains. Affogato and cheese to follow with coffee for those still in need. Fabulous!! (Apologies I mashed...up my sea bass before the photo but the other one is in tact!!)More
