We stopped here later in the evening one night on our vacation in Edinburgh. The food was good and reasonably priced. The service was a little slow at first, but seemed to get better as the restaurant became less busy.

Good variety on the menu. Enjoyed the scotch pie and haggis stuffed baked potato. Quick service, cozy atmosphere. Reasonable price.

Went for a meal before the Tattoo. Bangers and Mash were perfeck..... and I would also recommend the the tomato pesto and mozzarella panini. The price was good and the service too. Worth a visit.

Come here every time we visit Edinburgh (once/twice a year) and it never disappoints! Sometimes they run out of our first choices but we’re never disappointed with what we get.

Very friendly, but the pies were a bit of a let-down. I don't know if they make them themselves, but they were no better than supermarket frozen varieties.

Stopped in for a late lunch. Ordered the cheese and onion pie. Loved it! Very tasty and filling. Great mashed potatoes. Bro in law had bangers and mash. He didn’t love the sausage, but just different spice than he’s used to. Space is very small,...More

I very, very specifically wanted a pie and mash for dinner. I googled it specially, and that is how I ended up at this excuse for a restaurant. I asked the waitress, as she came to take our order, that I had noticed that the...More

This is a great place for terrific value, simple British/Scottish food, so long as you don't want any elbow room. OK, it was raining and everyone was looking for somewhere to eat indoors (there is outside seating but no-one in their right mind wanted it...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
