We’d eaten at Tuk Tuk Southside’s restaurant and enjoyed the experience so when we passed this one and it was good time.we popped in. The decor was different, this one is more rustic but possibly better for it. Although the menu says that the food...will be served when it’s cooked (so it may not arrive in order), everything arrived promptly and as requested. We don’t eat potatoes so this took out a lot of dishes. We had the chicken 69 starter - good sized pieces of chicken & very good dipping sauce = 8/10 Prawns in coconut sauce - very good = 9/10 mankhi daal with kidney beans - a disappointment = 3/10 Station Lamb Curry - hot and a bit raw but lots of meat and we mixed the daal into the lamb. This cooled the curry but also masked the daal. = 7/10 Tuk Tuk would advise you to order 2-3 dishes per person as their portions are based around “street food”. We ordered the 4 dishes plus a Naan and this was more than enough. Would we go again ? Yes and probably double up on the chicken and prawn dishes. EnjoyMore

It’s simply the best if you want a quick tasty meal. Excellent ingredients well cooked friendly efficient staff. BYOB means you aren’t paying the alcohol premium. The Coop next door must be doing a roaring trade as it’s so convenient. Highly recommended having been many...times. It never disappoints.More

Well well well, where do I start. I’ve come up to Edinburgh with my friends for a long weekend and fancied Indian food when this restaurant crossed our paths on Google maps. There were lots of unbelievable flavours in the dishes we had, I cannot...fault the food. The staff were so friendly and the waitress who served us (sorry I didn’t grab her name) was very welcoming! Would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family if they ever came to Edinburgh.More

Superb meal with friends. We had a selection of dishes with Paneer, lamb and chicken curry accompanied with rice, roti and man bread. The stand out for me was the Puri yoghurt bombs, these were amazing light bites, must be eaten quite quickly before they...go soggyMore

Great experience, bit different to normal Asian restaurants but that’s why I thought I’d give it a go, friendly waitress who explained how it worked so tried a chicken and a lamb dish , both were excellent in flavour, the sauce they came in was...quite thick and intense spicy flavours which sent the taste buds tingling. It’s a BYOB restaurant but the waitress explained there was a shop near by where I could purchase alcohol if needed but stuck with water. It was suggested that maybe two or three dishes per person is norm but I stuck to two and found that was just right especially with a portion of pilau rice. Overall I will definitely go back.More

Would thoroughly recommend this place. Warm, friendly atmosphere, and the food is off the scales delicious! We were a group of 10 and had one of the set menus. 3 starters each, and 4 curries for the table. For an extra £1 per person, we...added a fifth curry. Loads of rices, naan breads and poppadum to start. Everything was delicious, warm, and flavourful. Really great value for the £25 each. We were all stuffed! It's also BYOB which is always a bonus! Will definitely be back.More

I visited Tuk Tuk mid-week with friends, the appeal being an unusual menu comprising of street curries that you wouldn't find anywhere else. I opted for the ginger garlic chicken (£8.15), which is described as tomato garlic chicken pieces cooked in a rich gingery sauce...with pilau rice (£3.15), which I enjoyed. I tried the Daal Makhni (£7.10) that a friend ordered which was delicious and rich in depth and flavours. The lamb lasooni (£8.95) is one I will try next and a dish I would should have ordered. This is described as chef's favourite with speciality lamb diced and cooked with whole cloves of garlic. It's one that I was drawn to with succulent pieces of lamb in a dark, rich sauce. Portions are generous so you won't need to over-order, although you could easily order extras that will be cooked fresh in no time. Every dish looked succulent, tasty and appetising. Service is flawless by friendly staff in a casual environment. Everyone enjoyed what they had with no complaints. This is BYOB with a £1.50 charge per person. There is a Tesco nearby and they serve soft drinks and table water. I love this place. In a city which is packed with curry houses, Tuk Tuk stands out from the rest with unusual dishes you won't find anywhere else, keen prices, generous portions and outstanding customer service. I would recommend this to anyone.More

What a great experience! We shared lots of small plates between us, and everything was delicious - but we particularly enjoyed the lamb lasooni and chicken korma. Looking forward to our next meal here already!
