We ordered takeaway the other night from here and were soooo happy! The burger names on the menu are mucically pun-tastic and 'The Bat Out Of Falafel' burger was delicious. So tasty, really well cooked and full of flavours. The veggie chilli loaded chips were equally as tasty and it was a decent portion for both. We are both veggie so no meat eaten but you can just tell that their meaty burgers will be awesome too. The delivery was quick and food piping hot although we stay quite close... It was so tasty that I shall be taking some family here for my casual birthday lunch in a week or so and highly likely another takeaway will be ordered before then! It's a new favourite. Try it and see! Your tummy will thank you. ;)

The Mash Tun is our local and since discovering it back in early 2020 we have fallen in love with this place and dine frequently! Friendly and accommodating staff, great range of food and drinks. Also dog-friendly which is an added bonus. Definitely recommend!

Attended for a quick bite of dinner before the football game. Didn’t expect much, as it looked like a standard pub catering for the football crowd. However I was intrigued by the names for dishes on the menu, and very pleasantly surprised when the food arrived. Well presented, but more importantly absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly and visible, without being pushy and “in your face”. If we play Hibs again, this will be a definite port of call for me.

I and 3 friends ordered meals separately through the app and completed the order within 1 minute of each other, 3 of us received our meals at the same time however 1 of us sat waiting for between 10 and 15 minutes (to the point I had to enquire as to whether it was coming at all) the meals that arrived at the same time were tepid at best, the portion sizes were fine and the taste was good but I left all but 1 fry as they were cold and unappealing. When I eventually registered a complaint the server offered a completely unconvincing apology and accepted the blame for the mistakes made. After some time she returned with an offer of recompense which frankly wasn’t adequate in the form of discount from our next order of drinks. When our plates were cleared we were asked how our meal was and I gave a frank review to which the new server made the excuse that the person whom had served our table was new (I understand that she was unfamiliar with this but surely she should be checked upon from time to time), the person clearing the table said she would inform the manager (who incidentally had his staff meal which was the same as the one we waited for at the same time our other 3 came out) we sat and waited for a response and watched as he sneered and shot a look of disdain in our direction. We left without leaving a tip and quite frankly had we not paid before receiving our food we would’ve refused payment for the majority of it. As an additional comment there were 3 tables eating with 4 staff on shift so we can’t even put it down to a chaotic period. To sum up the food was tasty but cold and the service was terrible, 3 of us work in the food service industry and 2 of us are at management level, we couldn’t fathom how this business can continue like this.

I visited the Mash Tun with 9 members of my family. The orders took well over an hour to arrive, despite enquiring several times what the delay was. Some of the food arrived earlier but they had mixed up the order. I was for finally served (see photo) a portion of regular nachos £9.50 but it was just a small bowl of tortilla chips covered with sour cream. When I queried the size & where were he rest of the accompaniments as per the menu, I was told by the server that this was the standard size and that he doesn't make the prices. I was told there was no cheese or guacamole & after complaining, I was given a tiny bowl of salsa on the side. I have eaten in here before and been satisfied with the quality and quantity but not in this occasion. All out food came at different times and because of mixing up the order, some if the accompaniments were cold by the time the rest arrived. No apologies of any sincerity, the server clearly couldn't be bothered. A very disappointing visit.

Arrived to find no staff member was aware of our table booking. Ordered food using the QR code however hadn’t noticed that there was an error showing and when we questioned as to why our food was taking so long was told they hadn’t received an order. On checking my phone I discovered the order hadn’t gone through. The staff member told me it had been declined which wasn’t the case as there was more than sufficient funds. So we re ordered with the staff member, hoping it wouldn’t take too long as we had an event to go to, staff member then returns to say one of the dishes wasn’t available so now another delay while another dish was ordered. The first 3 dishes are then served, one of which was only just warm then a further delay waiting on my meal. The food was average. Apparently the chef was a bit overwhelmed with orders. My husband went to pay but was just being ignored as the staff member who had been serving us was more interested in chatting with her friends and the other staff members didn’t seem to notice my husband who’s 6’4 standing with a payment card next to the till. So in short, poor service, terrible attitude, food edible

I visited the mash tun yesterday (22.08.21) at dinner time to watch the football with a pint. I was initially quite happy as, despite my first pint being completely flat, I was allowed to sit at the bar and the girl behind the bar replaced my first drink without issue. Unfortunately my visit was then disrupted by a girl with glasses and a ponytail, presumably a supervisor, who was very keen to move me despite my protestations that I wouldn't be able to see the screen elsewhere. Luckily she left me alone despite not seeming happy about it. The beginning of the rudeness. At what I assume was the changeover of staff things got rapidly worse. A young man in his 20s took over behind the bar and made it abundantly clear that serving me was a chore to him. He began pouring me my second pint but was put out that the keg had run out and would need changed. When he returned I politely requested that I be poured a fresh pint. I was informed repeatedly that "it doesn't make a difference" and when pushed shook his head at me and became hostile and rude in his tone. I told him I would leave it due to his attitude at which point I was told to "take the pint". How this guy has managed to obtain and keep this job with this attitude is surely a mystery. In summary - poor pint, poor and insulting service. I will never return and would actively discourage others to do so. Shameful.

Ah, let me tell ye about a wee hidden gem on Easter Road – the Mash Tun. It’s like stumbling into a treasure chest filled with laughter, booze, and enough good vibes to make a grumpy old man dance a jig! First things first, the drinks! The craft beer selection is so vast it makes the Sahara Desert look like a puddle. They’ve got everything from local brews to exotic pints that’ll make your taste buds do the Highland Fling. Some of the beers are so nice, the locals drink it twice 🤪. And if beer isn’t your thing, the cocktails are like something out of Willy Wonka’s secret stash. You’ll be grinning like a Cheshire cat after just one sip! Now, let’s talk rum – the selection here is so good, it would make Captain Jack Sparrow jealous. They've got everything from the classics to the adventurous, and the Dead Man’s Fingers rum is an absolute delight. It’s smoother than a silk kilt and packs a punch that’ll warm you from head to toe. If you’re a rum lover, you’ll feel like a kid in a candy store! But what really makes the Mash Tun special is the bar team. They’re friendlier than a Labrador puppy! Special mention to the skinny blonde behind the bar – her smile could light up the darkest night. She’s quicker than a whippet on caffeine and mixes drinks with the finesse of a ballet dancer. And her banter? Top-notch! She's got wit sharper than a thistle and always leaves you laughing. Whether you’re a regular or a newbie, she makes you feel welcome. The Mash Tun on Easter Road is a shining star in Leith’s pub scene. Whether you’re in for a casual pint or just to soak up the Euro Footballs fantastic atmosphere, this place never disappoints. Five stars? Forget that – the Mash Tun deserves all the stars in the galaxy and then some! So, get yourself down to the Mash Tun and experience the magic for yourself. Sláinte!

Came here to watch the football after coming here once before and really enjoyed it. The food is great pub food and still is, however on this occasion the bar staff (only one member of staff working) was very disinterested and rude. Half of the beers on tap weren’t working either. I would return however if greeted like this again I would go elsewhere

We stumbled on this pub the first night we arrived in Edinburgh. The bar staff quickly accommodated a large group of 10 at 8 pm, which was a welcome surprise as we had been turned away from other establishments. The food was delicious and the staff were very helpful. If you're in the area -- stop in.

I like to support a relative local but they make it difficult. Food is generally good. Service very variable. Some good staff and others who would seem to be doing the customers a favour by serving them. They also need to decide what the opening hours are. Friday - they advertise open till 1am. They called last orders at 5 minutes past midnight!

It is really close to my place so I go frequently and now feel very attached to it. Yes, I am biased. Nothing is "great" but the offer of beer and food is viaried and it does not dissapoint. I would recommend it if you are nearby and especially if you want to watch football.

Casual friendly atmosphere. Decent pub grub. Dog friendly. Food was tasty and service quite fast. The 3 for £10 sides are quite generous portions. Will definitely go back.

Pop in here on occasions for a quick bite of food and to meet friends/family. Good bar food, tasty and well priced. I’ve found the staff mostly welcoming and the atmosphere relaxed. Will continue to visit.

My friend and I popped in for a quick after work drink and ended up there until closing time. The staff were so friendly and nice to us. We both felt very safe with the covid restrictions they had in place. Will absolutely visit again.
