Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The service is quick and welcoming from volunteer staff. I always order soup as it is always delicious. There is a restricted menu, however everything is freshly made and very tasty. The cost is so reasonable, especially for a city centre eatery. Try it and...see!More

My friend and I visit the Undercroft every week for coffee and scones and are always made to feel very welcome by the friendly staff. There's normally 3 different types of scones to choose from and a variety of cakes. The scones are delicious. The...staff are friendly and efficient and work hard. They also serve delicious soup, sandwiches etc. all very reasonably priced. Pop in I'm sure you won't be disappointed.More

I had mulligatawny soup with bread and croutons. It looked and tasted delicious and was very reasonably priced. My Americano coffee and shortbread round were also first class. I would definitely recommend.

Early start from Aberdeen, so looking for somewhere in the George Street area for brunch/lunch that was quiet & would not be 'typical Edinburgh prices'. Saw the billboard on the church steps so thought I'd give it a go. Small but interesting menu, & sandwich...prices not that much more than what you'd pay at a supermarket, but so much better - loads of filling & made to order. Lovely ladies (volunteers?) looking after customers, & everyone there was very friendly. The home baking looked delicious, so a return visit when I come back with a friend who just loves 'a cuppa & a fine piece' is a must.More

I’m honestly mostly writing this review just because the people were so kind and welcoming but it’s also a great value! I had a delicious ham&cheese sandwich with a nice scone. It is tucked away a little bit, in the basement of a larger building....No problem to find it on a map though.More
