A great spot for a full scottish breakfast - and great value for money too. Just £5 and you can make little substitutions without objection - and your tea/coffee is included in the price. Just what was needed after a heavy night - would recommend for anyone in need of some post-beer nourishment!

Went in on a Tuesday night quite late so it wasn't busy, the staff were friendly and we got quick service. The reason I gave it an average is because I have had much better French martinis else where.

We arrived on a fairly quiet Saturday morning and were greeted by a nice cheery girl, who advised us to grab a seat anywhere, there was perhaps four or five other people in. We took a seat and waited some time, the people beside us then had to go to the bar and request their drinks they ordered 15 minutes... More

Had a full Scottish here for £5. On a Sunday early morning this was the only choice. It included a drink and they didn't charge for an extra coffee. I had a pot of tea. Friendly staff. To be recommended

We went in here after work for a few drinks. Nicely decorated and attentive staff. Good range of beers and other drinks. It's a big place!

Called in for breakfast, lovely bar and great staff who were apologetic for the long wait for food (even though place was empty) but when food arrived sausages were still raw in the middle. Would use for drinks but not for food again.

From start to finish we could not fault this establishment, with very kind and hard working staff this place run like clockwork and there was only two of them.We had the Tapas, the various smells when they arrived were fabulous made you even more hungry. From the haggis dumplings, fishcakes, pork meatballs and chorizo croquettes my wife and I ate... More

En route to the Escher exhibition at the Modern Art Gallery, popped in here for breakfast at 9:30. The daily special at the unbelievable price of £5 was excellent. It was also huge, with egg, bacon, sausage, black pudding, three haggis balls, tomato, mushrooms, beans, toast and a fried pitta type bread. All this and a pot of tea included... More

Went here on Saturday for lunch. We arrived at about 12:30 and the place was fairly quiet with only two staff on duty that we could see. I thought it was strange with only two staff and bearing in mind that there was a rugby international on at Murrayfield and this place is on the route. It took quite a... More

From walls of Crystal Head Vodka to a showcase of Armand de Brignac Champagne and a great Gin selection, The Priory is out to impress with it's eclectic range of premium spirits, cocktails and locally sourced food. A far cry from the days of the old Cubanorte, the stylish bar and kitchen is a classy addition to Morrison Street and a happy medium between a neighbourhood local and George Street style venue. The food keeps standards high with everything from seafood - try the Hollyrood IPA Beer battered Haddock - to homemade Steak burgers.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
