We have eaten and several locations of Patisserie Valerie over several years. We find the food to be very consistent. In the UK it has been hard for us to find a dessert restaurant with a large selection, especially of cakes and pastries. Their 4...More

Stopped at this location for coffee and cakes. We sat at a table, then were asked to move because of someone with a "reservation." This seemed very odd, and the staff wasn't very courteous about it. The coffee was good. We had two different cakes,...More

Popped in to drink a cup of coffee and to have a tiny slice of cake. My friends couldn't choose easily, so we asked for some advice from the waitress. She was very kind and helpful. Finally we had the Double Choc cake and the...More

I ordered a celebration cake through Groupon for my friend's 50th birthday. It was a Strawberry mousse gateaux. We all found it a bit heavy and not entirely enjoyable. It was disappointing taste wise although it looked nice.

Visited with my daughter while out in Edinburgh. We were seated quickly and enjoyed a nice sandwich and soup. However thereafter the staff seemed to manage to avoid all eye contact. We would have liked to order a cake, but by the time we got...More

Breakfast came close to being lunch. Service was atrocious and when food finally did arrive about 50 minutes after ordering, it was lukewarm at best. Most staff were disinterested, there was one young waitress who was dreadfully embarrassed and did her best to compensate, but...More

The setting is quite cosy, service is fast and good. I had the large cappuccino which was well done, and the fresh pastries had a great taste!

Cakes looked amazing but went here for breakfast, so no cakes. Has a croque Monsieur which was ok and a coffee was good. Service was a little slack but they were friendly. Good location in the heart of Edinburgh Old Town, cafe is clean and...More

They have wonderful macarones, and the breakfast was perfect. I'm coming back for those good cakes! Good service!

We had walked back from Stockbridge and looking for a coffee and cake so this was a good stop off. The young lad who served us was really polite and cheerful. The cake was generous if not a bit too sweet. Good coffee.

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
