Contini George Street, Victor and Carina Contini’s flagship Italian restaurant, has relaunched with a brand new menu, décor and dining experience. A new menu, with a focus on small plates that can be shared, has been introduced, as well as a refreshed wine list and cocktail selection inspired by classic Italian drinks. The new Contini George Street menu features dishes such as Salame Calabrese with roasted aubergine, mint, crème fraiche and pistachio crumb; cod poached in cold pressed olive oil with fennel, samphire and chili; and a raw cauliflower, porcini and lemon oil salad with breadcrumbs and Venetian spiced walnuts. Meanwhile, “old favourites” like Contini’s classic Contadino can still…

We had a fantastic meal at Contini for my Birthday when we visited in September 2020. Tasty food and the most welcoming staff who came to wish me happy Birthday. A beautiful building too. Will return when we're next in Edinburgh.
I would recommend the Christmas lunch to anyone wanting a fantastic night out.
The starter was speck with melon and marscapone. A wonderful and beautiful contrast.
I would go with the meatier main options. I'm sure the pasta is great but you will not be...More
Have just returned from a really super Lunch at Continis. Amazing food, as ever, served by charming Staff. A very safe environment has been achieved by the meticulous planning needed to follow the Covid guidelines.

The staff need to change their attitude - it was as if we were an inconvenience. Masks do make communication harder but that doesn't excuse mostly silence from them.
We were shown to our table and sat opposite each other - immediately a waitress swooped...More

It’s a beautiful building in one of the most expensive streets in Edinburgh, the interior is jaw-droppingly amazing.
But..........in opening a restaurant here where the rateable-value is probably also jaw--droppingly expensive, was a decision that the owners took when they decided to open. Now there...More

Dear Mrs Reilly
We take the health and well-being of our customers, team, suppliers and family extremely seriously.
Our Covid cover charge is clearly displayed on booking. Rather than add these costs onto dishes we have shown them very clearly. Once we are permitted to...More
As regular customers we visited shortly after restrictions had been eased (potentially a month ago)
We found that the restaurant was not dealing well with the introduction of new measures compared to other places we had visited.
The manager was quite frankly, just rude. She...More

Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric
squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
