We went to eat with my husband. It was already very late and the people were very gentle. People in the kitchen are Italian so despite the fact that the restaurant looks quite simple the plate were delicious. Real Italian food!!!! I will recommend pet sure

Ok, so itś not very pretty, but I ate really well here for not uch money. The service was attentive, the food arrived quickly, and the waiters were cool with the kids. Cant ask for more.

I came on a busy Saturday night, as everywhere was fully busy. To be fair the restaurant was busy and there was a queue at the door to get in. You can see the chefs working hard preparing the food that was the best bit. It did take a while to get seated but we were only in for a... More

When we meet our friends we always come here for lunch. We had another excellent lunch ! The 3 course set lunch menu is tremendous value at £6.75 and there is a good choice of starters and mains. The house wine is also very very reasonable at lunchtime. Lorenzo gave us first class service. Looking forward to our next visit... More

This restaurant has a great atmosphere and has the simplicity and arrogance expected of Italian restaurants. It is extremely reasonable for a city centre restaurant and the food is very good. Service is too quick for my liking, it feels rushed and unnecessary. The restaurant was very busy on a Tuesday night and that was encouraging. I would return. The... More

I don't normally write such damming reviews but this place needs it. Brightly lit, rude staff, awful food. There really isn't much more to say. Apart from the wine was terrible as well. Hate to sound so negative but fir example I can't stand anchovies. They put them on my pizza even though they weren't listed & dudnt care less... More

First - why did we go here... i) it looks traditional ii) says its been in business for 30 yrs iii) on a Monday night all the recommended restaurants were empty iv) we wanted iItalian. The waiters could not have been less interested. The Kitchen staff were constantly walking through the restaurant - in their filthy clothes. Normally the House... More

We dropped in here for dinner as one of our party really likes Italian food. The service could have been better as the head waiter seemed to be very blaze and uninterested. Other waiters were okay. I had the Beef Stroganoff which was very tender and tasty but being served with plain spaghetti made the dish overall quite bland. My... More

Looking nothing like it's web photos, we arrived at four thirty to a virtually empty restaurant, but were seated in a cramped area, right next to the kitchen door ! Service and attitude from a large guy could only be described as brusque, younger slim guy was much better. Stuffed mushrooms arrived hot and enjoyable, although no sign of any... More

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
