Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went for Festive breakfast tea for my birthday. Setting cannot be faulted, service was OK nothing special, if anything slightly off hand. Food was a big dissapointment. Been for many an afternoon tea and both in term of quantity and quality was not up to...scratch. Limited choice of tea, no refills and lukewarm filter coffee only. Was not offered any choice. Paid extra for a mimosa which had very little alcohol content. All in all a big dissapointment.More

Have ticked Lunch but it was , breakfast tea. Underwhelmed is being polite. Service at the table was ok. One of our party, was 85 years old and we had to stand outside for nearly 20 minutes. We all agreed the food looked and tasted...like you had run along to a local supermarket and just grabbed what was available. Certainty we all agreed, it was certainly not value for money. Yes the building and decor is outstanding, no doubt about that, but you seriously, have to get your service, and standard of food seriously improved. As along with other contributors I do know what I'm talking about , I worked in the same industry for most of my life. I also notice on previous reviews, this is not a one off, regarding the issues we have raised, I am not really expecting a reply, or apologies although it would be niceMore

Incredibly disappointed with our visit here. Not worth the hype at all. We arrived and were promptly shown to a table. Water was served after 5 mins, thank god, as we waited about 15 minutes for them to take our food and drink order. After...our drink order was taken I watch as one server made my beer, then left it on the side and got called away, the beer was left for another couple of minutes before someone took over the order, probably was about 10 mins between the beer to the other drink, shame that was all in full view of us. £6.70 for a beer that was left on the side for 10 mins. The food arrived well presented and looked tasty (duck in a honey jus). Although we could see our mains sat on the side for 5 mins until the staff had time to bring it over. however was fairly underwhelming as some of the veg was still quite hard and the sauce tasted more like Bisto chicken gravy to the sweet honey jus I was expecting. Duck was cooked well though. After the plates were cleared we wanted to order dessert, however the the staff were more bothered by setting tables than serving customers. I’ve worked in hospitality most of my life and when paying over £100 for a meal I don’t expect to have to ask 2 people for some dessert menus for them to just look for my server. I don’t expect to have to shout someone over for attention but nobody seemed bothered. Staff were just stood around the bar chatting and yawning. If I’m paying this much for a meal I want to feel special, I want to feel looked after. Not what I felt tonight. Really disappointed, as we’ve looking forward to this meal for months. The place is a beautiful lovely place to eat and drink, but the service is the worst I’ve experienced and food was okay, not what I’d expect at that price.More

Visited last week for lunch in The Grill Room. The decorations are simply beautiful and enhance what is a stunning venue beautifully. We were seated towards the rear in a slightly elevated area which provided excellent views of the central bar and magnificent Christmas tree....Both of us chose the haggis, neeps and tattles pie for appetiser which was delicious. The haggis spice was subtle and the shredded neeps topped it off perfectly. Mains of pesto pappardelle and aubergine cassoulet were delicious and very much enjoyed. As it was a festive lunch we selected suitable cocktails - French martini and Dome Alone. Both very tasty and the Dome cocktail arrived in a cloche, smoking merrily :) The cocktail list was extensive and had many very appealing sounding options. Our server was attentive despite being very busy and we did not feel rushed or hurried at any point. A very pleasant experience which we intend to repeat.More

I visited the Dome 18 years ago and pleased not too much had changed ! We enjoyed dinner in the grill room, surrounded by the most amazing decorations in a beautiful building (even the loos are worth a visit!) food, drinks and service were amazing...(big shout to Juan who had been in the job for two weeks and was amazing!). The front desk team are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Only down side is it’s probably the most insta friendly place in the city and you have to battle ppl with their phones and the queue to the bar. if you do not book the bar queue can be long and nobody wants to let you through to get back to your table - in fear of losing their place 🫣. Definitely worth a visit and book well ahead 🥂More

Visited the Dome with my friend yesterday for Festive morning afternoon tea and absolutely loved our time spent there! Definitely prebook for Christmas as it’s very busy and popular and fills up fast, you can see why as soon as you step through the door...though because the decorations truly are jaw dropping! The food itself was lovely and just right for festive morning tea, and the staff were all so lovely and attentive, I’m sorry I didn’t get their names but it was a young male and female who worked in the Club room. All in all a really special lovely visit and I’d definitely return, thankyou so much!More

Extremely poor set up. Myself and my partner visited on 22nd November. We queued outside for around 15 minutes to enter into a the hall into the bar area. After waiting to enter we then realised that you had to queue at the bar and...acquire a seat. Fortunately as we waited for the bar a table for two became free, I continued to wait while my partner went to the table. Once seated she was informed that only once you had purchased a drink at the bar could you find a seat. So you had to queue to enter, queue for a drink to then queue for a table. Extremely poor set up and extremely dissapponted.More
