Came here with some friends at the start of April and as always absolutely fantastic. Service was quick and the food was delicious and piping hot - absolutely incredible menu too! Will return as always :)

We stumbled across this when wandering around looking for a pub! Great food, good prices with very friendly staff. A somewhat quirky yet charming restaurant that I would visit again next time I'm in Edingburgh

Read these reviews and have to say that our experience was very different from rude or agressive staff. We came to the restaurant on Tuesday 11th and were seated by staff member. We ordered pizza, spagetti carbonara and 2 drinks. Food arrived quick, fresh and hot and I must say it was very tasty dinner. Maybe decor is a bit... More

Went for a team meal with work, table booked for 15 people. Arrived and greeted by the waiter and sat us down, drinks order straight away and ask if we wanted starters while we pick mains. Had 3 plates of garlic bread (plain, cheese and tomato) which were all amazing! Ordered main meals and all were served within 5min of... More

I was asked to book a table for a team dinner to celebrate the launch of our project. A colleague of mine recommended La Rusticana. I called to make the booking for 15 people the day before we went. I was worried we had left it too late to book but the member of staff said it was no problem... More

Three of us went in for a late (9.45pm) dinner after a work event. We ordered two lasagnes, a pizza and a bottle of wine. The food was really good and wine reasonably priced. After we had finished, the bill arrived (we didn't ask for it). We asked the waiter if we could use our taste card. He told us... More

We went into this restaurant when a drunk man in the 'Dogs" restaurant next door but one was rude to us. It was very popular but we got a table very quickly. The staff were lovely and friendly. The service was speedy and the quality was very good. Highly recommended.

I and another teacher took some of our students there for a goodbye dinner. A small group of about 15 in their late teens, very quiet and well behaved Italians, I`m half Italian myself and by everybody`s standards the pizzas were horrible. Although I had booked well ahead of time, they squeezed us all in a corner, there wasn`t enough... More

I was looking for a quick lunch for myself and two sons age 11 and 13 , and was drawn in by the reasonably priced lunchtime menu. One of the main courses was vegetarian pizza and I asked if this could be replaced by margarita pizza....clearly a cheaper and easier version. This was met with hostility as it's not the... More

I had lunch here and the food was really good. The let down was the behaviour of the manager/ likely owner and his waiters. Initially as I started selecting wine the waiter insisted that I wanted the house wine and went of to get it. He did not wait for me to decide. Given I was dinning alone and sat... More

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
