Good food and efficient service. The set lunch is excellent. Wine and beer list looked OK, though was on sparkly water.

Eight of us dined here for a 21st birthday meal. Situated in a cobbled back lane near Edinburgh's centre, there was a very warm welcome. There isn't a bar, but we went straight to our table and drinks came promptly. Excellent food all round. Would...More

Had lunch with the family and whilst the food was good it didn't set any pulses racing. The menu choices are great and do showcase Scottish produce. Our starters were: Cullen skink, which was really delicious and filling, smoked salmon, and black pudding with poached...More

Cafe St Honore is a firm favourite, and does not disappoint. Good food, good service, pleasant surroundings. Can be a bit crowded in there - but I suppose that is the authentic bistro experience!

Overnighting in Edinburgh, I happened on this backstreet resto by chance, admittedly tempted by a signboard mentioning "Scottish chef of the year 2014". I wasn't disappointed. It was a toss up between a really well priced set menu and some interesting a la carte stuff....More

We visited as walk s last month and although they were busy they accommodated us and it was great. Especially nice was the beef blade and pork belly. Quite dark but very atmospheric. Unfortunately male and female looks are shared - only bad point.

Our third visit to this charming French/Scottish restaurant in the New Town. As always the food was super - nice substantial Scottish produce cooked with French flair - particular highlights were the Cullen Skink and the Venison main. The only slight downside was that initially...More

Lovely ambience, quite small, so although it was full, it was quiet enough to chat. Varied menu and between the six of us, we sampled quite a lot of the menu. Was without fail, delicious. Off the beaten track and a great find by my...More

New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town,
until after dark when strappy dresses come out to

with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many
of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest

helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned
Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric
