We visited Edinburgh with little organisation. Looking for somewhere to celebrate my sons birthday we came across this little gem, Although quite small it has a lot of rustic charm. The staff very attentive and we could not find fault with anything

My wife and I visited for my birthday last week.. I had French onion soup followed by Vennison stew both were delicous. My wife had the soup of the day which was mushroom followed by cheese pie both were perfect. Plenty of french bread washed down by excellent red wine. We both finished off with creme brulle which was superb.... More

If you are crazy about Edinburgh but not about haggis or local beer please have a stop here. The restaurant is nice and waiters speak French/Scottish and are kind and professional. We had a great onion soup , good fish or meat (scottish salmn, sirloin steak), great escargots and crayfish and white wine was good. Check reasonable, location very convenient.

A rustic French feel with top class food and service. We absolutely loved it (grilled prawns starter, venison stew, and creme brulle.)

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
