Great meal - Covid safe and Eat out to help out initiative

My family had a great meal tonight one of our first since the restaurants reopened. We took advantage of the Eat out to help out initiative, which made a meal for 6 of us good value. Social spacing was OK restaurant was spotless and the staff all had masks gloves and we felt very safe. The quality of the food was excellent we will be back.

Food better than ever!

Voujon recently opened for takeaway and delivery. Because of COVID -19. Many people in and out collecting while I waited for mine, clearly I’m not the only one who’s missed this lovely restaurant, the food they cook. We’ve all missed you! Tonight I ordered 3 side dishes. Voujon dall, Sabzi Tarkary, Bhindi Bhaji, boiled rice and chapati. Being vegetarian I like some choice. Mustafa kindly had them made extra spicy and hot, just what I like. I have had food from here countless times, it is my “local”. The food tonight was so delicious I had to tell you. The bhindi cut into pieces in a thick tasty gravy. Perfectly cooked. The dall was the perfect consistently, soft Chana Dall easily lifted into a torn off piece of perfectly cooked thin chapati and straight into my mouth. Beautiful. The vegetable curry (Sabzi Tarkary), just the right mix of cabbage, potato, green beans, carrot. All spicy and hot but I still sliced some green finger chillies on top! Sometimes I wish I wasn’t vegetarian... so I could try their meat and chicken dishes but of course that won’t happen!! So glad they’ve opened for takeaway. They’re busy so be prepared to wait a wee while for your delicious food to arrive! Glad to see the staff again too, friendly and so welcoming. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. Look forward to them opening for sit in meals. Meanwhile.... 😘 Friday night is curry night!!

Lovely food

We were a small party of 6, the restaurant was quiet (possibly because it was a Monday evening). The staff were very attentive giving recommendations on amounts of food required to share. Everything we ordered was delicious and plentiful. we will definitely go back again.

Fantastic experience

After reading other reviews we booked a table at this restaurant and weren’t disappointed. There was a wide range of food to choose from, especially vegetarian options which I sometimes struggle with. It tasted amazing and portions were generous. The waiters were attentive and the service was really good, we didn’t have to wait long to be asked for more drinks, if we needed anything etc. I would definitely recommend booking as the restaurant was fully booked (it was a Friday night) and there aren’t many tables as it is a small restaurant and due to social distancing. Definitely a sign of a good restaurant though!

Amazing place, staff and a great meal!

Went there with some friends and we absolutely had a lovely time. The staff were very nice and the food served was delicious. They had so many options so we decided to have the chef's Complete Meal food for two and it didn't disappoint from starters to the main meal. Their customer service was also very considerate and tried to accommodate our needs. Moreover, the place had some really good vibes. I will definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to eat good food at a really nice place surrounded by lovely people.

The best of the best.

Just had dinner and my dish (king prawn Rogan Josh) was simply the best curry I have had and I have eaten curries all over the world for over 30 years. Just amazing. Very careful post-lockdown with single use paper menus and each table given an extensive clean after each sitting, a nice calm restaurant with very good attention to detail. Attentive but not intrusive staff. It is, easily, the best Indian in Edinburgh but also one of the top restaurants. Lots of new items on the menu. Simply the best of the best.

Really good service

Staff here were really helpful. Ahmed waited on us and was very helpful explaining menu choices. Also asked for the lamb rogan josh to be as mild as possible and they complied which was great because I do like the flavour it but it’s too hot so I never order it. Really enjoyed the king prawn puri despite the bread being a lot thicker and very different from what I’m accustomed to. The meat inside the lamb samosa was a little dry and crumbling but it came with a nice sauce. The tandoori prawns were huge. Found the onion rice a little bland but really enjoyed the peshwari naan which came with coconut and almonds. Friendly service throughout and they even ordered a taxi after uber failed to arrive.

Great meal.

This was a recommendation from friends and it did not disappoint. We had a vegetarian and chicken starter both were delicious. Our mains both had lots of layers of flavours, normally we can find a distinct favorite but the Chasni and Delacacy were both delicious. Wine was great too. Best peshwari nann I have had in years really light- my husband even enjoyed it and he only likes garlic nann usually. If you have the opportunity you need to taste this food!!!!

Excellent little place, great staff

Me and my wife make a point of getting a curry when we go pretty much anywhere for a holiday. We saw this place on TA and decided to give it a go. Location was a bit out of the way but very well connected by public transport, I think we had the option of like 5 buses for the trip back into the centre at about 9pm on Friday 17th December. The food prepared was delicious. The waiter (suspect he may have been the owner or maitre d') was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. My wife got a vegetable curry with a delicious coconut sauce (we can't remember the exact name) and I got a Garlic Chilli Chicken dish. They were both cooked to perfection and I ate every bit I could! The naan was clearly prepared fresh minutes before serving as it was just perfect. Atmosphere was very chill too. Staff were all busy attending customers without looking rushed despite the restaurant being quite full at the time. Overall this restaurant really impressed me. Will be my go-to Indian restaurant on future trips to Edinburgh.

Best one first time ever in Edinburgh

Twenty of us booked this restaurant about month ago from Cardiff though had to pay advance deposit but no complane top notch food and service. Saturday night restaurants was busy but popodam came on the table supper fast then starter and main been served on time. We all enjoyed. If our meeting take place next year we will be back. All the very best voujon.

Delicious Food - great restaurant

Visited Voujon early this evening after reading some amazing reviews. Well it didn’t disappoint!! Restaurant was well organised for social distancing with hand sanitisers available. Staff were very attentive and food was very tasty. I enjoyed the chicken kharahi and so did the table cloth!! Value for money and well worth the visit.

What's not to like

First time at this restaurant and as soon as we entered we received an extremely warm welcome from very friendly and professional staff. The ambiance of the restaurant was also very welcoming with a lovely comfortable decor a real feature. I started of with king prawn pathia on puri which was extremely tasty, although a little light on the king prawns, whilst my friend tucked in to his panee puri, a dish I had not seen before but he thoroughly enjoyed . This was followed by lamb passanda, again a little light on the lamb, but never the less was extremely tasty. My friend settled for Kasmiri Murghi a mild chicken dish, which he again enjoyed. The restaurant, including the toilets, were absolutely spotless. A real pleasurable experience all round and one I hope to repeat next time I am in the area.

Incredible Food and Service

My family and I had a lovely dinner (complete with naan, rice, roti, several curries, biryani, and samosas). The food was cooked to perfection, full of flavor, and great portions. The service was excellent; our waiters were attentive, friendly, welcoming, and very professional. We will definitely come back and would highly recommend to anyone!

Best standard of Quality

Fantastic food as always and they are very welcoming. All staff are professional and knowledgable. You can ask any question they are happy to answer. Excellent decoration and very clean. They have party room and offers that free of charge only food cost for large or small party. They do take away and delivery service food to your door. Specially better to make a booking on weekend to avoid disappointing. Excellent experience all over:) must go to visit for once
