We had a superb meal which delivered excellent value for money. The food was exceptional and my husband discovered a new love in the ‘spiced’ ice cream. We had three courses for £52. Our choices were the Orkney scallop and crispy pork cheeks. It was...the first time I was tempted to try black pudding - I will definitely be more open to that in the future. For mains we had the Gressingham duck breast and seared halibut. We would have loved to have sampled the cheese and biscuits but were both full which for me is positive. That lovely feeling of being well fed in good food and wine - total contentment. The essence of cooking from scratch came through in the bread, the ice cream and the chocolates served with coffee. All of the food was excellent. The dessert wine flight was great value too. Highly recommended.More

The Stockbridge Restaurant in Edinburgh is delightful and delicious. We are so happy that we booked in advance before our 2-week trip to Scotland. The tasting menu was fresh, creative and beautifully served. The restaurant is small and quiet in a residential neighborhood which was...still within walking distance to our hotel. Make a reservation to ensure there will be a table for you.More

Really bad service so in the end we left without having anything. Chef wouldn’t take into account dietary requirements despite stating they would when we booked. We went for a tasting menu and were handed a standard menu full of meat. Any decent restaurant that...does tasting menus prints you a vegetarian one off if that’s what you are having and my poor husband despite being pollo pescatarian was told he would just have to eat vegetarian. We had an itison voucher and I can’t help feeling we were treated less than favourably because of this so we left and had the voucher refunded. The attitude of the waiter was disgusting and we will never return. Awful experience.More

Last night we ate at Stockbridge, a restaurant which was close to our hotel. It turned out to be a wonderful fine dining experience. This small but comfortable restaurant is located on a garden level on St. Stephen’s St. The cuisine is eclectic, combining local...ingredients and some flavors into well-prepared dishes throughout. The “amuse-Bouche” was a venison terrine, which was a delight. Then we each had an appetizer of sea bass, which was flavorful. Next course was his halibut, rich and flavorful. Finally, the dessert- we each ordered a “parfait” and a “panne cotta.” Both fun and imaginative dishes. Service was excellent. Overall, in our trip, this was the best restaurant we’ve dined in to date. If in the mood for fine dining in Edinburgh, go here.More

Having eaten here before we left feeling disappointed and a little sad. I’m hoping it was just an off night. The interior unchanged from our last visit, lots of colourful art, slightly formal look but not a formal atmosphere. One waiter in a jumper, jeans...and trainers, the other white shirt and black tie. From the tasteless, dry little rolls, the dry pork belly starter it didn’t bode well, the sea bass starter was pleasant with a lobster bisque. The mains of venison and the fish dish were ok but underwhelming not enhanced by the sad vegetables, 5 baton carrots, an inch square of dauphinois potato and a limp floret of cauliflower. The wine choice was good and the cocktails pleasant. Dinner for 2, 2 courses, 2 glasses of wine, 2 cocktails £133 excluding service.More

We enjoyed an absolutely excellent meal this evening at the Stockbridge Restaurant. Start to finish, every course was delicious. With an Amuse Bouche before the starter and an extra sweet treat between the main course and dessert, it was more like a five course meal....Petit fours accompanied the coffee too. Service was courteous and personable, the decor of the restaurant adding a romantic ambience AND the wine recommendation was spot on. I couldn’t believe the bill when it came, having already agreed with my husband we must tip well. I was so sure it would have cost much more for such top quality. (By the way, this was the perfect location for arriving in time at our next destination, a candlelight concert of Einaudi piano pieces at St Mary’s Cathedral in Palmerston Place. ) In all, a very special evening.More

There’s so much I can say about this restaurant but I’ll keep it brief. Having done my research using TA, I wanted to find a nice, intimate and romantic restaurant that served excellent food. It ticked every box and some! Like a previous review said...on here - it is Michelin Star quality at a much cheaper price. It surpassed all expectations and we will definitely be backMore

Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling
a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s
small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s
first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s
most desirable, though many bohemian touches have
fallen away as its residents have matured and the area
has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but
mostly residents display refined tastes in basement
