We booked a table for 5 for the special Hogmanay dinner at the pompadour. Without informing us in advance, we were seated in a side room apart from beautiful main restaurant one, badly lit and poorly decorated. Food was really excellent except for fish which...More

I’ve eaten in several Michelin starred restaurants, and sadly this was disappointing. Firstly, it was incredibly dark inside. Fortunately we had a window table and the outside Christmas lights offered some light. Other than that there was a covered tea light on the table, one...More

Had a truly stunning meal at the Pompadour. The food, presentation and taste was simply fantastic. The staff were lovely, great service without being pretentious. Highlight for me was the Halibut tartare, probably one if the nicest starters I have ever tasted. My partners monkfish and...More

A treat dinner for my wife and I. The evening started badly in the lobby bar where SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE, simply appalling - plenty of staff but just not attentive or on the ball. On moving upstairs to the restaurant we were disappointed to find...More

Great location with views of the castle and Prince's Street. Enter the luxurious hotel and up the stairs sets you in the mood for the restaurant. On a Friday it was about 3/4 full but there's plenty of space so you can hardly hear the...More

We ate at the chef's table and it was one of the most fabulous meals we have ever had. Would highly recommend.

The Pompadour is our favourite restaurant in Edinburgh but this was our first time for Sunday lunch. The food and all the little extras were exceptional and the service was as always excellent.

West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in

Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest
citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind
grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel
crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and
sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along

The first Scottish venture for Brothers Chris and Jeff, The Pompadour by Galvin offers a luxurious French culinary experience, made using meticulously sourced local ingredients, and seasonally inspired flavours. One of the city's most precious treasures, The Pompadour was opened in 1925, inspired by the official chief mistress of Louis XV whose portrait adorns the walls with the Salon where you able to have pre & post dinner drinks before moving into the main dining room with its hand painted panels and original features
