Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stopped off today and had burnt banana & honeycomb and black forest gateau.
Lovely creamy ice cream, brilliant choice of flavours.
Why queue for 45mins for Mary's when something this good is just up the road? Bizarre.

Absolute delicious ice creams. No need to queue for hours at mary's milk bar whilst you got the best ice cream a few meters away. My favourite the blackurrant&apple sorbet. Oh my, so good!

Best ice cream ever, what a surprise to find this in Scotland. Great taste, huge scoops, premium quality ice cream. Loved the whisky-raspberry taste

Beautiful icecream for a hot afternoon on the Grass market in Edinburgh. Had the seasalt caramel. Served by a pleasant and friendly young lady. Would recommend this.

During CV-19, we aren’t going out as much so have decided to spend more on locally produced essentials like ice-cream! 1 litre of raspberry ripple - was omg delicious 🤤 especially with a quick homemade crumble; the chocolate & hazelnut ripple is to die for.
Best ice-cream in Edinburgh no doubt in my mind! & we can’t wait to order more of their amazing flavours. Bye bye Ben & Jerry’s and hello ‘Cool As!’ 😋😋😋 Buy locally sourced & good to their cows 🐄🐂🐃

Positioned for easy access right in the Grassmarket, this ice cream was delicious. I had the vanilla and I loved it. We are from a dairy farming area in Australia and we had a great chat with the attendant about the farm the technicalities of production- it was brilliant! Highly recommend!

Great fresh ice creams in a vibrant location! Try the elderflower sorbet on a hot day, it's vegan too :)

Looking for a big icecream shop we missed the little blue stall at first. But went back and our kid spotted it. Tried icecream with pink peppercorns for the first time and loved it - as well as the raspberry with whisky!

Went here because it had good reviews and the queue at Mary's was way too long. Service was friendly but I ordered the vanilla ice cream which tasted like egg. No idea why but my friend also tried it and agreed - tasted like they'd got the recipe wrong and forgotten to add the vanilla - no idea why it tasted like egg either!! My friend enjoyed her sorbet though.

This is a little stand for on the street. I only mention that because we were looking for a storefront. The ice cream is delicious and the server was very sweet. We also thought cost was fair. We would definitely recommend.

I found this charming ice cream stall while wandering around Edinburgh last August during the festival.
The person serving was very friendly and the ice cream was excellent. I had the classic mint choc chip, but there were plenty of interesting flavours available. Highly recommended.

Not all the usual flavours but some lovely unusual ones. Great service from a small stand on a street corner.
Recommend the scotch whisky ice cream and the strawberry yoghurt one.

Friendly staff who, because it was quiet, allowed me to sample many of the flavours from a stick. £3 for a big scoop. £2.50 for a little one. They stuff the ice cream a good way down the cone, and it's those decent cones, not those brown formica Mr Whippy ones.
Made in Scotland to Scottish recipes.

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
