Food was excellent and the service very good. It is not a large room but in no way felt crowded. Nice wine list

From the moment my wife and I entered the restaurant we were made to feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and the service was excellent. Given plenty of time to get relaxed we proceeded to have a wonderful meal. The fillet steak was delicious and the partridge cooked to perfection. Dessert was a perfect compliment to the main course.... More

Evening meal for two. From the moment we arrived the staff were superb. Food was excellent from the Amuse Bonchester, wood pigeon starter, venison and desert. Good selection of wines. All in all a memorable occasion.

Dined with my son. The food, service and ambience excellent. Cannot rate this establishment high enough. It is well worth seeking out. A must visit establishment. NOT CHEAP, but worth it.

Went for lunch with 2 course meal on a week day. I had rabbit pate and venison stuffed with haggis. You could go with 3 course meal (starter/main/dessert) for around 19£ or 15£ for 2 course. Lovely and welcoming atmosphere. The service was excellent. Discreet but present. And a smile goes a long way. The food was good but small... More

We booked this restaurant for lunch on the basis of TA reviews and as a post xmas treat for relatives. Despite having booked a table and not just arrived on spec, service was very slow although the restaurant was by no means full. Two main courses were sea bass which consisted of half a fillet on each plate and very little... More

We had a late booking at Wedgewood (9.30pm) but this was not a problem at all. It was really miserable outside but the atmosphere in the restaurant was really cosy and warm. The food was superb - I had the steak and it just melted in my mouth - really good. The sticky toffee pudding was also pretty amazing! Due... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
