Very poor quality with no effort made in the kitchen to make this a special meal. Lovely surroundings,so it was sad the food could not live up to it.

Actually getting into the restaurant wasn't easy, even for the shortest member of our party who, at 5'7" had to duck to get through the gauntlet of twigs you have to go through to reach the door. At 6'2", I was almost bent double. Our...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its

that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

I don't think it is overpriced. I think for all the Work and effort complementing the fresh products and as I was informed paying a good Salary to the employess i think it's reasonable priced.

It’s a small space and the menu is limited. As long as you have non picky eaters that sit still, it should be fine 😀

Monteiths prides itself on using great quality ingredients that are locally sourced where possible. Provenance is hugely important and we work closely with our suppliers to ensure that our food comes from farm, to plate as quickly as possible. Although we frequently change our menu to reflect the changing seasons we also have a range of specials including dry aged fillet steaks and chateaubriand available. There is also a selection of seasonal dishes from the sea including fresh Scottish lobster and oysters. We also serve a wide range of hand crafted cocktails, beers & wines from around the world. Whether you're looking for lunch, dinner or drinks Monteiths on the Royal Mile is a must.
