Just got home from a fabulous meal at this amazing wee hidden gem of a place. After hearing really good reviews, my husband and I decided to dine here tonight for our anniversary. It's a Wednesday, the weather is awful and it's early yet so we were the only ones in the place. The wee waitress greeted us on arrival and showed us to a table, left the menues and asked if we'd been before, then went on to explain the menu and advised us on how many plates to order. She was very welcoming, attentive and friendly. It's small plates, like tapas...my husband orderd vegetable pakora, chicken pakora, chicken korma and pilau rice. I had vegetable samosa, curried potato & cauliflour, chicken curry and pilau rice and we shared nan bread, and our drinks were cans of diet coke. The food comes as it's ready, every dish was amazing, very tasty and piping hot, flavours were delicious. we were both stuffed, but I did manage to squeeze in a warm Indian carrot cake with ice cream which was delicious also. All came to under £38, great value for money. Will definately return, this is probably the best Indian restaurant, and the decor is trendy and relaxing. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Indian curry <3

Attentive staff offered advice on how many dishes to choose to share for a party of four. Specials available as well as a good main menu. Portion sizes were fine and the garlic chicken was really good. Good selection of boots on offer to wash down a really tasty meal. Definitely won’t be our last visit

This was our first time and we had an amazing meal with a selection of tapas sized plates of food. Service was great and the food was delicious. The staff helped select some mild dishes that the kids loved, can't wait to go back to try other options on the menu. A fabulous family run restaurant.

Was really looking forward to this meal but the food was average and I know it was small portions but 5 thin pieces of chicken pakora was poor value. The fish dishes were the best overall. Service was not good as we had to remind the waiter for our drinks order as we had waited 10 mins and again with the bill - after 15 mins waiting for it, we had to ask again and it was wrong. Over £10 worth of food was missing from the bill - I wish I hadn't bothered.

I visited The Indian on Saturday, the place was so busy with a great atmosphere. The staff were very welcoming and explained the menu very well as it Is slightly different to the normal Indian restaurants. Its very nice to see a menu with less items on it, as I find some places very confusing with the amount of dishes they have on the menu. We opted for Popadoms with relishes, Veg pakora and Chilli chicken pakora.. Then we had the special lamb chops served with a green chilli mash potato ( this was incredible) , we had a chicken makahni.. I have never tasted a curry like this, it was so flavourful, and we had the lamb curry, melt in your mouth . Everything tasted so different and so light- we didn't feel so bagged up like you normally do after an Indian. This was honestly the best Indian food I have ever tasted. I can't wait to return. Thank you to all the team here, you guys are superstars.

By far the best and most delicious Indian cuisine in Scotland. We eat here on a regular basis as a family and the food is exceptional quality. The attention to detail that goes into every dish is like no other and the this is by far the best quality Indian food outside of India. The staff are some of the friendlist and caring staff we have ever experienced and they go over and above to make everything perfect.

Been a long time since I’ve been out on a Saturday night. The 3 of us decided to go “old school” - drinks in the Granary followed by a curry. Have eaten take away from The Indian on Skirving St quite a few times during lockdown. The food was always spot on. Last night did not disappoint, the small plates concept worked really well. Each dish had a distinct and fresh taste. Service from the staff was really good and they were happy to answer questions about the dishes etc. There were plenty of Gluten Free options too. The place was packed and a great buzz , which added to the night out. Great to see this family business thriving. Will be back again soon.

Myself and my friends went for dinner and all I can say was it was incredible. The place itself looks and feels very different to your normal Indian restaurant, very spacious and also trendy but also very relaxed.
Our waiter explained the menu to us as it’s sharing plates, which we loved the idea of.
We ordered 4 large cobras and some popadoms to start.
We then ordered : Chilli chicken Pakora , Fish (can’t remember the name) , Aloo tiki, Chicken Makini, Chicken karhi, Lamb curry, Spinach and potato, 2 Garlic naan and a rice.
Everything was amazing, each dish has its own unique flavours and tasted light and fresh. We didn’t feel bagged up after eating it.
All in all a great experience, very well priced for the level of food.
Will be back

Been here so many times, the food is dependable and consistent. Got recommended here my first time by some friends, definitely an underrated place that too many people are gatekeeping, lol! The curries taste authentic, service is fast and attentive. We ordered the famous Chicken makhani masala which was on point, the tikka from the specials menu is something to keep an eye out for! Great ambience, throws you off if you come in expecting a stereotypical Indian restaurant with old music. The place is young and alive during the weekends. Definitely coming back to this hidden gem.

We have visited the Indian on Skirving Street 4 times now, So I would say each visit has been consistent. The menu is very much a micro Glasgow Indian menu . Smaller than most restaurants but the quality is excellent. Great starters and a good selection of main courses with chicken and lamb featuring strongly.
My only complaint is the size of the portions. I would say that it is cheaper than most Indian restaurants in the area . But and there is a but the portions are representative of the smaller prices. I would recommend having a starter a main course and rice as well as a bread. this should come in about £20 per head . I have another small gripe It is a lovely room with furniture and woodwork by the talented local artisan woodworker Paul Hodgkiss designs. tables are always filled from around the dead end corner. I hate being put in the corner in an otherwise empty restaurant. Staff are always well trained and pleasant.
Food is the big pull here it is excellent , My last visit I had 4 bits of chicken in my curry. Get the portions right and I will visit every week !

Have wanted to eat here for a while.
Menu not your standard dishes and servings small plates which allows you to try a few dishes.
Staff welcoming and explained menu and suggested we share 2 starters & 3 mains with a couple of sides which proved to be enough.
Stand out dish was the Amritsari Fish starter although everything else was very good.
Only negative was that there's no draught beer, but can appreciate why as bar area quite limited.
Will be sure to return in the future

There are about 8 vegan options for starters and small plates. Between two we shared 5 plus a side and this was more than enough. Vegan options aren’t marked as such, so it’s best to ask and there are no vegan desserts.
The curries themselves were ok. All a little too spicy for me, but not bad. They also only offer ‘rice’, nothing flavoured, which was a bit disappointing.

Never before experienced all the food we ordered, that’s starters and mains all arriving at once. Popadoms, pakora and mains. Very small portions at £8 each for a curry. Ordered three curries between two as advised and it really was not enough food. Rice similarly a very small portion. To have sufficient food you could end up spending a lot of money here. Food good quality but was going cold by the time we had finished the starters. Not good enough in our opinion. Waitress sullen and mumbling , cleared plates but didn’t clean the table. We cleaned it ourselves before she noticed and came over.

Extremely tasty, fresh and well prepared and cooked food from starters of popadoms, pakora and Amritsari fish, main course of cauliflower and potato curry and delightful naan bread to delicious gulab jamun and chocolate rolls. ( all amazing with the exception of the ‘chocolate’ sauce decorating the plate accompanying the beautifully filled chocolate rolls, which tasted plastic and out of a squeezy bottle rather than home made, definitely would have been a much better dish without this.)
Service efficient and pleasant enough but no one asked if we were enjoying our food, or at the end if we enjoyed. Perhaps staff were too busy, but might be worth a wee retrain.
Wine a bit over priced.
All in all a lovely wee night. Thank you.
