Not a brunch kind of person but Scran changed that for good. After seeing many food bloggers dynamite reviews on Insta had to check it out for myself, and satisfy my own food envy (chef trait) and cross it off the list. The place is always chocka so you know theres something very special happening here. Perfect flat white of dreams, banging tunes, lovely, professional but informal lassies working their wee bums off to create the perfect ambience and sling that food and drinks out rapid, but not make you feel rushed, that's a skill. Thats before you've even put Chris's amazing creations anywhere near your gub. Then its game over! I opted for the cheesy brioche toast with heirloom Tom's and crispy onions and siracha. Beautifully presented and perfect balance in every bite. You may have guessed. I love it. The team are killing it and deserve every award and continued success they achieve ❣

Lovely Mac & Cheese and Lamb special. The Burger Fries are some of the best fried I’ve had. There’s not much more I’d like to try on the menu. The restaurant’s very small so be prepared to wait for a table. You can give them your number and they’ll text you when your tables ready, not sure where your meant to go in this area (another cafe maybe). This seemed to be a very chaotic process where people were getting tables before people who had been waiting longer. We had quite a long wait for our food though. There’s other bigger brunch restaurants in Glasgow which are bigger and serve better food, you also don’t have to wait as long for a table.

Hey Glasgow foodie , thanks for the review. Glad you enjoyed what you had. Sorry there's not much else on the menu you'd try. Our menu is extremely well recieved and praised for it's variety on a daily basis. I try my best but I guess some palates are harder to please than the majority. As for our 'chaotic' system, we find it totally foolproof and it's literally impossible for folk to jump the queue as we literally have a waiting list with names and numbers in the order that they come in. You're maybe getting confused as we text customers when they're table becomes ready and they'll arrive back from the lovely Alexander park or nearby places we suggest they can pass the 15 or so minutes wait. I'm also sorry our place wasn't big enough for you! I had no concept of how busy and popular we'd become so quickly when I bought the place, my hands are literally tied and we do our best with the space we have, I'm truly truly sorry that this has upset you. And as for your food taking long? We generally produce the fresh, cooked to order food pretty rapid from our kitchen, and are usually commended on the fast pace we turn our customers around. So maybe this was that one exception as I personally am there to cook every plate of food and have extremely high standards. I'm sure there are lots of bigger and better brunch spots in Glasgow, but for what we do with such a small place and such high numbers I reckon we do alright. We are proud at what our wee team have achieved. We've put literally everything into it, heart, blood, sweat and tears. So as the owner/chef and proud boss I'm really sorry SCRAN isn't for you 😥

First time here and seriously well worth a visit. Fantastic breakfast menu and the coffee is outstanding. Beautifully presented with nice touches like an onion crumb sprinkled over the hollandaise sauce with my poached eggs. Very small premises which makes for a very busy atmosphere, but this really adds to the charm of the place. Lovely helpful staff bring an all round very nice vibe as well. Definitely be back, thanks!

Visited on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Opted for the Stornaway (poached egg, Stornaway black pudding on sour dough toast topped with hollandaise sauce) washed down with a fresh orange juice. The food was promptly served, piping hot and was delicious. The venue would benefit from a patron specific toilet though...that would be my only gripe.

WOW!!! Breakfast was amazing. I had the Stornaway version of poached eggs, which was just delicious and VERY filling. It was beautifully presented and those eggs!!!! They didn’t disappoint, especially as they’re cooked by the man that taught all of us how to poach an egg properly via social media. My husband had the Royal-ish version and that was equally stunning and tasty. One of my bugbears is poor coffee but again Scran didn’t let themselves down on this. Not bitter and a proper crema! Lovely, friendly staff too. We will certainly be back. Get there early if you want a table and even more so if you want a takeaway breaky, coffees, buns or their famous homemade sausage rolls. It was queued out the door. Always a good sign!

I've always wanted to try this place and one day, between lockdowns, I was passing and decided to try their "Scran Gourmet Bun" I will say this, it was £9, so at first it looks expensive, but when you eat it, the cost becomes irrelevant. Only a few times in my life have I eaten something and actually been blown away by the quality. The blend of flavours is exquisite and wonderfully balanced. You can tell the chef knows food and how taste and texture interact. And that's not something I'm aware of usually, which is a testament to how engrossed I became while eating. The place itself is small (which only adds to the sense of exclusivity) as the queue is usually out the door, even before social distancing. Thankfully I was doing takeout so it wasn't a problem. It's nicely decorated and seems a pleasant place to sit. The staff I encountered were lovely. Perhaps I was just buoyed by interacting with new humans, but they both came across as super nice people. Overall, this is 100% one of the best places I have eaten. It deserves the accolades.

A friend and I were in Glasgow for a long weekend and visited Scran. The pandemic had not long broken out and the staff were so conscious and attentive, ensuring our table was completely sanitised and allowing us to throughly wash our hands with soap and warm water. I am a huge brunch / poached egg fan and am always on the hunt for a delicious breakfast and Scran did not disappoint. The eggs were to die for and the whole dish was just divine. It really set us up for our day out and we cannot wait to return when we’re safe to head back to Glasgow again.

Not a place I’d visit again. Sign outside says soup and toastie £6.95. Heard good things about Scran so went in. Nobody serving and three members of staff chatting away to each other. When I eventually got served I asked for the toastie and soup and was told no soup left. I asked for the toastie on its own and they still wanted £6.95! Considering they were selling the soup for £3 I queried it and was told its a special during the week but the price of a toastie is still £6.95 with or without soup. I declined and told him I would not be back, as I was leaving someone behind me said “oooooh” and the staff who had been chatting started laughing at me. I went next door bought a loaf, filling, and a tin of soup for £3 and went home and made my own lunch. Customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

WOW!!! Where do I start??? I'm the owner Chris and witnessed this whole charade from the sidelines and have to say my staff acted impeccably with your horrendous behaviour and attitude. You came in looking for trouble which was clearly evident to my staff and customers who also witnessed this from the start. Our kitchen closes at 2.30 the exact time you showed up and we were taking other customer's orders when you pushed in to order. Our staff were taking orders, not talking to each other. We took your order and explained the soup was finished as it occasionally is when the kitchen closes. Our "Mid week deal" is 6.50 for any toastie with an option of a FREE small cup of soup if desired. Not 6.95. And a large cup of soup on it's own is 2 pounds not 3. Valuing the free small soup around 1 pound. Hopefully you stand corrected with the prices now. The toastie you ordered was roast chicken breast, home made tomato chutney, home pickled red onion, smoked ayrshire bacon, fresh rocket on Bavarian bakehouse sourdough. Yet you think a loaf of white bread and a tin of soup is comparible? You failed to mention that you came back into my cafe once you'd bought said loaf and started verbally abusing my staff AGAIN. This is NOT acceptable. My staff are extremely precious to me and I don't expect them to come to work feeling threatened in any way shape or form which you did TWICE! And I'll have to correct you once again as the staff saying "oooooh" when you left wasn't my staff. It was me saying "you're barred!" In the 4 years that we've been opened we've never encountered anyone so threatening or rude as you sir, and I've never felt the need to bar a customer to make my staff feel safe in the work place. That is until now. I was always told to judge people on how they talk to their server. Great advice #bekindtohospitality

By far my fave place for food in Glasgow!!! The pastrami toastie is worth giving up vegetarianism for, the cakes are class, they stock locally made drinks u don’t see elsewhere. Not to mention the staff are top notch. Should be the top of your list for places to see in the 8th coolest neighbourhood in the world

This is something I should have done long ago but you know how it is, you go back to your favourite cafe at least a couple of times a month and you get complacent about reviews. So apologies but this should have been written back on 2018, and again in 2019 and also in the year of 2020 when even standing in an hour long queue for takeout felt like a good enough excuse to leave the house! My personal favourite is eggs hollandaise and you'd have to go a long way to improve on the standards here, quality and quantity served up on a plate in a cosy wee neighborhood cafe with excellent waiting staff. Unless you are very fortunate you will almost certainly need to queue, but trust me it is absolutely worth the wait!

I walked from the Cathedral on a blistering hot day knowing there would be a great lunch at Scran. Without hesitation I went for the ‘special’ which was Vietnamese-style toasties with pork and all sorts of interesting and tasty items including a mug of soup. Then a small chocolate tart which was both very chocolatey and not full of sugar as offerings like that usually are. All for £15 including Irn-Bru, espresso and tip. Tremendous value for money!

3rd visit to scran and once again it didn't disappoint. Well worth the 50 mile round trip, it just delivers every single time. I've had something different each time, today I had nonas eggs with a side of Thai fries, with my partner opting for the halloumi burger. I love the little hidden gems of flavour in each dish, little bursts of freshness that come from the micro herbs which compliment each mouthful. If you've not been then what are you waiting for.

Had high hopes for this place after reading a lot of reviews. Always busy when walking past. Had a portion of “nonnas fries” and sadly found it tasting quite oily. The fries itself felt like they were frozen as they had that hard inner texture as if there were two tones of heat to them. Could just be an off day but wouldn’t rush back.

Been going to scran at least monthly since it opened. This is hands down the best brunch/scran place in Glasgow if not further. The girls provide an impeccable service, always making sure you have everything you need to enjoy your scran and well when the food comes it speaks for itself, nothing compares, quality food with Michelin presentation.

This was our first time in the restaurant although we had been given great reviews from folk who had been. The girls were just so kind and helpful as were the people waiting in line who were giving us advice as what to choose. Most people said ,’ anything on the menu was superb’ - and they were correct! This is a place where you will be made so welcome! I had a scran gourmet burger which was out of this World and I don’t say this often! We also shared benny fries - best ever! We can’t wait to return. What a joy to have superb food and a warm, kindly welcome. Don’t wait just GO!
