Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We arrived on a busy Saturday evening without booking, asked for a table, expecting a refusal but were accommodated immediately.
We got a typical Greek welcome, were given an extensive menu with so many choices we couldn’t decide what we wanted, and were given extra time.
The menu included both Fixx and Mythos beers (O JOY!) and all the usual choices you’d find on the menu of any Greek taverna.
We had generous portions of tzatziki, pita bread, chicken gyros and lamb kleftico, both of the latter served with chips.
Staff were great, friendly and attentive and we actually felt homesick for Greece during our meal.
Next time I’m in Glasgow and in need of sustenance, I’ll head to this restaurant for my Fixx of Mythos.

Had one of the best meals I've ever had last night. The chicken souvlaki is to die for. Prices are VERY reasonable given the restaurant's location and the quality/quantity of food you're getting. Staff were very friendly. 100% recommend, I'll definitely be back soon.

I placed a takeaway order for Pastichio and Youvetsi and they did not disappoint. Both meals were hugely tasty, authentic and excellent value for money. Greek hospitality is legendary - I was pleasantly surprised to see that two big pieces of Baklava had been added to the order gratis. It had been baked to perfection. This is without a doubt the first of many takeaway orders from me.

Table was booked for 7.30 but were kept waiting at the door. Restaurant was extremely busy and staff seemed very under pressure, Eventually showed to a table near the door and then given menus but unfortunately no one seemed to want to take either a drinks or food order. I had to get someone’s attention to actually give our drinks and food order which to me was ridiculous. The starters came and then the main course came and the starter plates were still not cleared. I will definitely not come back to this restaurant again. Service was diabolical and considering we had booked a table we were just stuck in a corner and forgotten about.

I am sorry to hear that you had to wait. You will be aware that the world is adjusting to the impact of Covid19 and we are all trying our best to operate within challenging circumstances. Our staff are trying their best and you will see from many other reviews that they are doing the very best they can.

We came here on our last night & had been really looking forward to it.
The olive oil & balsamic they give you when you arrive along with fresh bread & olives was just lovely we shared a started of dolmades which was also lovely but that’s where it stoped unfortunately.
The mains were terrible I had Soufrito steak medallions & my husband had Kleftico Lamb on the bone, the only way I can describe the steak was bland slimy like a boiled beef texture the lamb on the bone was dry, we had on the side a combination of rice, potatoes, chips none of which were tasty sadly.
I really wanted to enjoy Elia but it was a massive disappointment

We were here over three years ago, when I called it 'Superb'. We haven't often been to Glasgow lately because of the pandemic, but now we wanted to eat out and chanced our arm by going without a booking. We were lucky and got a table, and right from the off, all staff were very pleasant and helpful. While we were waiting for our food we noted how attentive the staff were for all tables - most were youngish, but there were 'old heads' there too.
We really only wanted a main course, but also ordered olives to nibble on - the helpful waitress said we would get that included to begin with anyway! However we ordered some garlic bread anyway, plus 1 kleftiko and 1 youvetsi.
The mixed olives arrived, along with water. The bread had the most lovely olive oil to dip into - not sure all that was in it, but it was amazing.
Both meals were tasty and plentiful, washed down with a bottle of the house red.
All in all I couldn't fault the restaurant in any way, and with a cost of approx £50 including wine it was excellent value.

The vegetarian moussaka was completely tasteless. It was potato-based, with no aubergines at all, which we have never experienced before. It contained nothing to flavour the dish in place of the minced lamb in traditonal moussaka.
We mentioned this to the waitress who simply said 'sorry'. Upon leaving the restaurant we mentioned our disappoinment to the manager who expressed surprise and said that people rave about it, which we doubt very much. He said that we should have told the waitress earlier and they would have given us something else. This fails to recognise that having eaten quarter of a dish it is not condusive to wait for something different. Also, when going out to enjoy ourselves we are not in the mood for a confrontation.

My boyfriend and I booked a table online for Elia on a Monday night for the Eat Out scheme. After a bit of a wait we ordered. We had the hummus (which includes pita bread) and mussels in the tomato sauce. I enjoyed the hummus but my boyfriend found the mussels a little tasteless as it was dominated by the tomato sauce and feta which were very tasty.
For the main I had the greek salad with whitebait on the side and my boyfriend had the lamb kleftiko. I enjoyed both my mains and they were very fresh but the star of the meal was the lamb which was delicious. Would recommend having it with the rice option. Really simple but beautifully cooked so that it disintegrated off the bone and melted in the mouth.
Overall the food was delicious. I found my portions quite big (especially the starters) but that could just be because I over-ordered. The only reason this isn’t a five is because we were sat at the table for 25 minutes before our drinks were taken and had to ask a few times for tap water which took ages to get to the table. Other than that we had a lovely time and would recommend to anyone passing.

Chose this restaurant due to it's central location and many good reviews. However, we were disappointed by the quality of food, portion size and level of service. This was the smallest portion I have ever received at a Greek restaurant. My partner ordered the Chicken Souvlaki and received one small skewer of chicken, a cold pile of rice and handful of rocket. I ordered the vegetable mousaka, which was all potatoes and no aubergines, and some of the potatoes we raw because they were cut disproportionately. This was the first time we have gone to a Greek restaurant and left hungry, was not even cheap. Service was unnatentive and cold, we waited 30 minutes from the time our waitress cleared our plates to when another staff member brought the bill. Two stars for the location and that the souvlaki was edible, very confused about the high ratings.

We have eaten at Elia on numerous occasions and have always enjoyed both the food and the ambiance. To celebrate my husbands lockdown birthday I ordered from Elia last Saturday. The food was just as amazing as we remember and as usual the staff were so accommodating. My daughters popped down to collect the order and everything was perfect and well packaged so no spills etc!
We can’t wait to visit again but in the meantime, we will still be able to enjoy all the fantastic Greek food.
Well done all!
My daughters home made sign included!

This was a nice surprise find just next to where we boarded the sightseeing bus. Delicious food and really reasonable prices (lookout for the express lunch menu). Service was quick and polite and meal choices was good considering it was a limited lunch menu.

Had a lovely meal with nice view of George Square and festive lights. Excellent food and service. Starters of village sausage were really tasty. Had stifado and lamb chops for main, traditional Greek dessert and bottle of wine. It was really nice to have complimentary bread and olives to start. Bill was very reasonable especially when you consider the restaurant is in a prime and tourist location . Will definitely return.

Having not eaten here on before we decided that we would give it a try, the starter and side dish was Ok however our main course and side was overcooked very chewy Beef Youvetsi served with a mountain of Orzo, the beef was so chewy I had to take it out my mouth the lemon potatoes tasted like they had been thawed and microwaved. The staff did deduct the meal from the bill however 2 beers 1 dip and some meatballs still came to over £23. There are better to be had but unfortunately weren't open on a Monday. The
Staff were very nice.

The food we ordered last night was truly awful. I ordered lamb souvlaki which was tough, salty, chewy, lukewarm and overcooked. This was served with a limp salad and cold white rice. My daughter was served a slab of dried up microwaved pistitos (sitting in a pool of oil) which was steaming hot on the outside and cold in the middle. Wish I’d taken a photo to attach but just couldn’t wait to get out of there. Avoid at all costs!!

You choose Greek to remind yourself of the food and the holiday. Don’t do it, make sure you book in to Elia to try the amazing food that is so much better than you remember. WOW..... all the food was superb, wine very good and even a cheeky cocktail.
