Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Ferry is a brilliant venue for live music. Not too big that you can’t get a view of the band and a fair size dance floor to boogy. Book the meal with a table for the night and you won’t be disappointed. Food is really good and with waitress service until the band comes on, so there is no large queues at the bar. The only negatives I can think of is maybe a wee refrub is due as a polystyrene tile fell from the ceiling and hit someone on the head right in front of us! Also, people need to stop reserving tables downstairs by putting coats on chairs before they finish their meal! If you find it difficult going up and down stairs, ask to be seated downstairs. It’s not guaranteed but they always try to accommodate.

Not only do you get the best live music venue but the food they serve is top notch and all at the best prices. If you love a wee tribute night, get yourself a Gold card... amazing value! Jayne and her team are the best! X

Due to an unfortunate incident at the ferry, I can't thank the staff enough for their help in helping my wife who was hit by a walking stick falling from the upper deck and striking her on the head and causing her an injury. They were very quick in their response to provide first aid. And I thank them most sincerely.

Was told to be there and seated for 6.30pm. Seated not far from door that continued to be opened, and next to closed door onto deck, freezing, asked to be moved and told no it would heat up later when all arrived, forgetting of course that smokers still going in/out continually. Food was ok, but clearly all pre arranged on plates ready to come out. Decor worn and wooden chairs uncomfortable, with coats, jackets trailing on floor, very basic facilities except the toilets which were good. Meal finished at 7.20pm and with coats worn, at 9.25pm the Tribute acts still not on. Uncomfortable and freezing cold, left and was bitterly disappointed. Would not go back.

Used to have a choice of 2 dishes for veggies. They had changed their menu literally the day we were booked in without informing attendees. Only one veggie choice which I couldn’t eat. I was told there are no other options for you and server just walked away from the table. I eventually had to ask if I could have a couple of sides instead which they reluctantly agreed to and then added to the bill by mistake. Chips and garlic bread both of terrible quality. The staff are completely uninterested and customer service is zero. I would never go back. Waste of time and money

Although a limited menu, the food is tasty and homemade, with choices to suit most diners. The food arrived hot and nicely presented. As a pre-curser to a show it sets the tone for the evening and guarantees early entry and a table for the evening. The only downside we found was that the dining chairs are quite shallow and become less comfortable over time. The staff were all lovely, friendly and professional. Our server Michelle was delightful, smiling and chatting whilst serving efficiently. She was a font of information and the epitome of the type of customer service you would wish to have. A very good value evening.

Good night at George Michael/ robbie Williams tribute night. Food was spot on. Veg pakora x 2 and salad. Chicken, lasagna and sausage meals all were well cooked and thoroughly enjoyable. Act was good. Shane people there wrrent up for a party night couldn't get their bums off seats. 1st class night we thoroughly enjoyed with those that were out to enjoy.

Went for a glam rock night, first time here and what we paid for the dinner and show deal was excellent value. For the price the menu was quite good with a nice variety, special mention for the fish pie, ridiculously tasty! Good variety of drinks at the bar but avoid the overpriced cocktail jugs, seemed like just a jug filled to brim with ice with not a lot of drink! Live music was great and the 'support' band were every bit as good if not better than the main attraction. Great night out and thoroughly recommend a visit.

Ive been here a few times and had dinner twice. The menu is not extensive but everything I’ve had was very good, including home made soup, chilli and rice and chicken, mashed potatoes with a creamy sauce. Good service and friendly staff make for a great night out.

Very disappointing! Booked for my partners birthday as he was a fan of George Michael. Very poor decor, and waited 20 mins to order starter. Not a great choice on menu! Melon and prawns, hardly any prawns, chicken wings very fatty. But most disappointing fact was main course Chicken and veg pie disgusting. Chicken cubes looked and tasted like processed chicken. Extra £6.50 if you wanted dessert. Drinks overpriced and seating a joke! First come first served for a seat downstairs for tribute act. No matter that you booked for both together. Doors don’t open for other guests until 8.30. Too long a wait in between meal and live performance. Downstairs is dark and dingy. Needs updated! Drinks far too expensive. Overall experience very disappointing! Walked out after meal - felt sick looking at meal and really upset. Will never go back to this place. Too crammed, not enough seating downstairs, choice of menu, dingy and overrated.

Went to a gig here and was met by the most unfriendly doorman and front of house staff, the lady behind the desk made you feel so unwelcome. No cloakroom to leave your coat, not enough tables or chairs so ended up standing by the stage holding my coat with nowhere to leave it. Some of the toilet cubicles' door locks didn't work. Really didn't enjoy the ferry, all-in-all a very disappointing night out, despite the live act being good.

I have visited this great venue on many occasions, good food, great acts and up until last night normally friendly and helpful staff. The so called manager was disinterested, rude and clearly needs some training on how to make guests welcome and resolve problems. His staff all looked miserable and also could benefit from some customer service training.

Been here many times and always a great atmosphere. The support act, the Missed Deadline, I believe were very good and W2 as U2 were excellent. Only negative was the bar prices - never been cheap, but unique in that of all the bars, pubs, restaurants, clubs etc., this is the only venue we have ever been to which does not offer any reduction for buying doubles of spirits,e.g. elsewhere you often pay say £4.50 for a single vodka and perhaps £6.50 for a double but the doubles were £11, plus £1.60 mixers, a single is £5.50, plus 80p mixer. That is in theory anyway, almost every time I bought drinks all the same order, dependent on which bartender served came to a slightly different amount! Even a pint of diet coke was nearly £4. Would come here more often if the bar prices were cheaper and consistent!

We had a lovely meal and great service from our waitress Michelle. The food was very nice and had multiple gluten free and a vegetarian option. The only thing that could be improved is a more specific break down of the entertainment timing as we didn’t know there was a support act and the main act (Jersey Notes) didn’t start until 10pm which was much later than we anticipated. We left disappointed!
