We have visited this restaurant for meals on several occasions over the last few years and have found it to be consistently of a high standard, both in terms of the professional and friendly service and also the quality of the food. It's a pleasure to eat here. The waiting staff are excellent- nothing is too much trouble for them in ensuring that the dining experience is a good one. The food itself was very well presented, delicious and value for money.

This was my first visit and let me say, in general the food was very good as was the atmosphere given that it was a Sunday night in October. The young waiter / s who served us was / were very pleasant however there was an older gentleman, if I remember with grey hair that seemed totally disinterested and slightly off hand - perhaps the same one mentioned in other reviews? It was not an inexpensive evening by any standards and whilst the food makes up for the majority of an overall positive dining experience the attitude of the staff can quickly tip the balance the other way. There are several Italian eateries offering good food to choose from within the south side of Glasgow....it's important to get the whole customer experience right

Our group chose this location for our monthly catch up. The welcome was indifferent and set a standard for the afternoon. The restaurant was half full but there seemed to be more that adequate staff available, however they seemed to to trying to see who could avoid the most. it took some time to get some drinks and our food order taken. The food itself was tasty and well presented throughout the meal but was delivered in a very slapdash manner as if we were an annoyance. The final straw was we had to request the bill 4 times in order to leave the building, needles to say no tip from a group of men who are usually very generous. Wont be rushing back.

We have visited La Vita Piccolino e Vino in Newton Mearns many times over the years and the food has up till now been generally very good within this busy Italian restaurant. However last Saturday we ordered and collected our first takeaway from them - WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT 2 starters and 2 mains First problem was that one of the main courses was wrong - a phone call resulted in a replacement being delivered within 15mins. However the food was from start to finish was extremely disappointing. So much so that we were unable to finish any of the dishes. Overcooked and tasteless. The next afternoon we called to tell them about our disappointment, The staff member was polite but not particularly apologetic. He Offered a derisory free pizza next time we ordered a takeaway. We told them it would be unlikely we’d order any takeaway in future and did not want a free pizza. As the member of staff was not authorised to do anything other than offer the pizza he suggested he would get “the boss” to phone me back. I agreed that the boss should be informed & would be pleased to receive a call from him. Two evenings later there has been no call from senior management. It would appear that this restaurant does not care about providing such a poor experience to its customers.

Usually love our food here and have both collected and ate in. After phoning up and being told to wait a minute (9 minutes later) I was able to order. After getting to the restaurant to collect my order staff were understandably stressed but were rude and abrupt. Waited a good while in the restaurant and took my food home. From then it was very disappointing, food was look warm, despite me arriving on time, and the focaccia was bone dry. The worst part was the marina, which is usually nice. My whole family are convinced we have been served Heinz tomato soup, it was the exact same and COLD. Doubt I will be back after this.

We were poorly welcomed into the restaurant and seated at a table. We were then seen too by a very rude waiter, who seemed uninterested and said about 3 words to us during our entire visit - he was our main waiter. The food arrived and instantly my girlfriend found a moving bug on top of her pancakes! We let another waiter know, he was apologetic and got us a new dish. We finished half of our food as understandably we were put off! After finishing our breakfast, we found another bug crawling on our table. We then asked for the bill expecting some sort discount for the inconvenience but nothing was done and we had to pay full price. I used to enjoy this place and am now disappointed as to how we were treated today. Won’t be back anytime soon. Very poor.

Had a spontaneous desire for a steak and just popped in. Been many times before and as usual service was excellent and friendly. They quickly served up a superbly juicy steak and chips accompanied by an excellent Italian side salad and plenty of mushrooms. Pepper sauce was ideal ! Recommend the house Sicilian Red “MANDATO” £30 for the lot including the bottle of wine! Certainly well worth the money for the standard of service, quality of steak and how it was perfectly cooked. Tiramisu is there own recipient and to die for 🍰 Will have another spontaneous treat very soon 🥩🍷🍷

First visit to this restaurant for a while. Lovely decor and food was pleasant but found the service a let down. Staff were not at all friendly, aloof and there was minimal interaction. Most of them had their face masks round their chins the whole time while all diners did follow the mask rule. When I asked for the bill as a waiter passed he was very rude and too busy concentrating on cake delivery. Won’t be rushing back as didn’t feel like valued customers.

We have visited this restaurant regularly since it first opened, and have always had a lovely meal and positive experience- otherwise we wouldn’t keep going back! The restaurant is always busy, especially at weekends, with such a fabulous atmosphere - further testimony to the restaurant’s appeal and success. We find the staff to be very welcoming and friendly, and the service very good. The menu offers a wide choice, at affordable prices, so my only difficulty is making a decision about what to have! We’ve always found that both the manager and the owner are very concerned to ensure all their diners are being looked after and enjoying their food - another very welcome feature!

We both had the early menu Starters were bruschetta peperanti Mozzarella balls Main. Roast of the day Lasagna with side of garlic bread. Dessert. Dough sticks We spoke to the waiter on leaving just passing comment on the dessert. It was busy and we didn’t want to talk as the staff were busy. The presentation of the lasagna was poor with it dripping over the side of the dish and looked not very appetising. Looks were deceiving as it tasted nice. The dough sticks were cold and not light and tasty and the chocolate was grainy. As I said on the phone the first time we were at Piccolino’s it was fantastic and this time our expectations were not met. Thanks William Sent from my iPhone

We went to La Vita Picolino e Vino last night. We were seated promptly and welcomed properly at about 8 45p.m. We ordered one course each from the A La Carte. I had veal milanese with spaghetti pomodoro. The veal did not taste good as if it was fried in stale or rancid oil. A pizza with barbecued chicken had rather too much garlic in the base tomato sauce. I ate about half the veal and my partner the same with the pizza. I paid the bill and told the waiter about the issues. He appeared to reject the criticism and just walked away indifferently which is an inappropriate way to treat a regular customer.

I have visited this restaurant on a few occasions and each time I leave thinking about the awful service but saying nothing . This time I will . There is one waiter that I always find brusque and unwelcoming and guess what - we got him again ! He rolled his eyes when my friend couldn’t make out what he said - the restaurant was extremely busy and noisy , coupled with a mask does make it difficult . He then proceeded to constantly look round the restaurant while handing us the menus upside down , completely disinterested . The meal in itself was fine but ruined by that ignorant waiter . Perhaps he’s family , but family or not I would be saying arrivederci !

Took visitors from London for a meal last Friday. The restaurant was very busy and noisy. No greeting from the server who was I think the under manager who asked us how many glasses we wanted for wine. Because of the noise my brother did not hear him correctly and ordered a non alcoholic beer. The server raised his head and his eyes to heaven and asked asked the question again. This service was unfriendly from start to finish and embarrassing for me as a regular customer and insulting to my brother. Personally I would not have left a tip. The food was as good as ever but no matter how busy a restaurant is, friendly and polite service is highly important to make a pleasant experience. Most disappointing.

We live 5 minutes drive from Picolino Newton Mearns so its very convenient for us. We go as a family of 4 maybe once a month for a family treat and the kids always enjoy the kids pizza and garlic bread. I always get the jimmy style half pizza and half pasta with my wife and a side portion of fries. Picolino always deliver food to a consistent standard and on my last visit I thoroughly enjoyed the tagliatelle which was very good indeed. The atmosphere in the restaurant is also nice even for kids and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Plus the toffee popcorn sundae is an excellent way to finish the meal of with and we love sharing it. All in all a great local place to visit will definitely come bac.

Piccolinos really need to up their game when it comes to availability of vegan friendly food. Was there as a party of 6 last night. When I asked the older (slightly rude) waiter what vegan main course choices they had as I couldn't see any at all on the menu, he shrugged his shoulders and said the kitchen would make me a bowl of pasta with some of their pizza base sauce and some vegetables...Really?! That is something I would make myself as a super quick mid week meal at home, not something that is in any way a treat to have at a restaurant. I asked if they had vegan cheese for pizzas (which they could keep in freezer and use when requested so would be very little hassle for them) which they didn't. Would suggest La Vita Piccolino e Vino takes a look at other local Italian restaurants like Battlefield Rest which has numerous vegan choices (including vegan pizzas and ice cream) on the menu. I had a better choice of vegan friendly food when I was in Italy in the summer!!
