Nice pub that tries to be a gastro-pub, adding its own personalized signature on traditional dishes and offering some new out-of-the ordinary combinations. It doesn't always work. I have gone a few times and its better to stick to the more traditional dishes, as its...More

We have had an absolutely fresh bite considering the fantastic ambience, frivolity, food, lighting, toilets, dry seats, average wine list, tofu; further bants? Consistently high standards here despite having been in Gibson Street for years, and our visit last week, pre-concert at The Hydro was great, with our fare reflecting typical Scottish produce - haggis and neeps for The Moll, and pheasant for me - and plenty of it....More

The meal was absolutely fantastic. Stravaigin offers a world-fusion style menu with influence from a wide variety of world cuisines. Meat and produce is locally sourced wherever possible. Loved everything, the service, the food and cocktails, all really good. The menu is small, but by no means limited, and really well thought out. The vegetarian option was amazing! The space looks great too!

Description
Stravaigin is old Scots for 'wander', a word that nicely encapsulates the restaurant's ethos. Both the menu and dcor evolve; there's a wonderful creativity about this West End favourite. Locally-sourced ingredients are used to create imaginative international dishes such as Indonesian pork balls with vermicelli noodle jam jar salad. For something closer to home, try the haggis - recently voted the best in Scotland. The subtly dark, leather- wallpapered basement restaurant shares a menu and nautical theme with the less formal caf bar above. Service is informal yet informed. The staff know the menu and wines inside out and are adept at keeping cool under pressure, especially during the pre-theatre scrum. Exciting , affordable food without the foodie formalities.
