Established in 2004, Dakhin was the first authentic South Indian restaurant in Scotland. Set amidst the centre of Glasgow's Merchant city district, it offers diners a vast array of speciality dishes from India's southern region. We're talking about authentic recipes using fresh natural ingredients from award-winning chefs. Food worth talking about, and a warm dining experience to savour. Dakhin proudly features within the Michelin Guide and comes highly recommended by many food critics. If you are looking for something different from your run of the mill Indian restaurant then you'd best be sure not to miss out.
Good central Merchant City location. Table was booked for 5.30pm on Saturday, earlier than normal for us but any apprehensions alleviated re atmosphere as very busy even at earlier time. Offered a pre theatre fixed price menu but went a la carte which offered excellent...choices. Generally well pleased especially with mains and sides. Only slight issue felt starters chosen were underwhelming and the fish starter was over salty. That aside thoroughly enjoyed, will definitely return and next time focus on a Dosa for main. Good friendly service and at £40 a head all in including drinksMore
Good vibe. Not fancy but a big and buzzy eatery. The menu is extensive and authentic. Great dishes. Good place to bring a large party. We were around 12 people.
Staff are super friendly.
Delicious dishes inspired from the southern part of India.
I've forgotten...the name of the bread. I don't think it was nan. It might have been Dosa. Does that ring a bell? It was baguette-length but much thicker, flavoured, and soft. Great to mop up the sauce with most Indian curries.
I like my curries to be mild but packed with flavour and these chefs produce such dishes.
You can fall out of this restaurant and quickly into a pub or cocktail bar, if you want the evening to carry on.More
Found this restaurant via a Google search for gluten free dining in Glasgow. My daughter follows a gluten free diet and I wanted her to go somewhere she could pick anything off the menu. The restaurant is very attractive inside and the staff were very...friendly, helpful & attentive. The menu is different to usual Indian so I would say don't rush to order and ask the staff for help. Everything we ordered was delicious. Interesting that while feeling full afterwards we didn't feel uncomfortably full as can often be the case after an Indian meal.More
Having never been before we let the waitress recommend us our meals. Couldn’t have been more delicious. We had chicken and bahjis to start followed by a monkfish curry and chicken curry with coconut rice and bread selection. The staff were extremely attentive and it’s...always so nice to be able to eat in a place you feel 100% safe as a coeliac! the waiter explained that the staff aren’t even allowed to bring gluten containing products on-site!More
Fantastic food and service and pleased we got a table as the restaurant was full. We had a variety of different chicken and lamb dishes and enjoyed the trio of breads and the paper dosa. We’ll be back soon.
Being coeliac, it was lovely to be able to go to a restaurant and be able to eat anything on the menu. I was spoilt for choice in what to pick, everything sounded delicious.
The food was superb, the restaurant was spotless and the staff...were so friendly and helpful.
I only wish I lived nearer to Glasgow so we could go more often or that Dakhin had their own cookbook so I could try and recreate their dishes at home.
Thank you for a lovely meal xxMore
