We chose this restaurant on a recent visit to Glasgow because of its coeliac accreditation we also needed dairy free and they assured us that they used coconut milk. We were not disappointed. The food is outstanding and the service impeccable. We ate from the pre theatre menu and can honestly say it was well worth the money. Two courses ( huge portions) complimentary poppadoms with dips and 2 glasses of wine all for less than £42. We will certainly eat here again Compliments to the restaurant.

We came to Dakhin on a quiet Sunday evening during Covid. My daughter is a coeliac and was very excited to have her 1st Indian meal. The staff explained the reason for them being gluten free and were excellent throughout. We went for the £20 per head tasting menu and every single part of it was 1st class. One of the dishes on the starter section we didn't fancy but the waiter swapped this for another dish and it was no problem at all. We loved the food here. I'm back I Glasgow in October with a mate and I'll be going back for more. Great job Dakhin and thanks again.

I visited here for the first time after hearing rave reviews from friends. I was not disappointed. A very busy Saturday night with a real buzz about the place. Service was really good and I did not feel rushed or pressured as in some other city centre restaurants. Such an extensive menu it was difficult to choose. My starter was Chapalu Urundai, fish croquettes, main was Kodi Byriani, chicken byriani with a thick raita sauce. I had no room for dessert. No problem with portion control here. I will be back soon.

We decided to try out Dakhin after reading all the great reviews online (we were also craving some good south indian food) and booked a table in advance last evening. On reaching the restaurant we were quickly shown to our table and two menus were shoved onto our table. Being a busy night I let it slide thinking the waiter has too much going on and this was unintentional. We noticed that there was no cutlery or linen on our table (there was a set on every other table) but thought we might get some after ordering our food. The food arrived but the cutlery did not and we only got some after asking for it. Even then we just got paper towels instead of linen like anybody else. They might have run out of linen, we thought ( a sad situation for a restaurant to be in) but when a European couple arrived after us they were given a fresh set of linens. This was the first hint of things not going right. We anyway didn't want to create a fuss and continued eating our meal which was rudely brought and placed on our table. We could see the waiters asking all other diners about the food but we were just left alone to dine in misery. It was as if we were being punished for being Indians in a south Indian restaurant. I had ordered appam and chicken curry (a dish I've had countless times in India). The appams however, were undercooked and on confronting the waiter regarding this, I was told "this is how we do it here". I have had enough appams to know this is not how they should be doing it and had it replaced with a dosa instead. There was no apology for unprepared food but instead an arrogance of the quality the serve. Some of the other dishes we had we lamb fillets(served cold), idli wada sambhar( dense idlis which is quite shameful for a south indian restaurant) and masala dosa which was good. The place is way too overpriced for the quality of food it serves and the staff require training to treat all customers the same. The dining experience was very uncomfortable and we couldn't wait to just pay and leave. Will not be visiting this establishment again.

Whilst I have eaten many times at the Dhabba, the Dakhin’s North Indian sister restaurant, I had never eaten here before and I’m pleased I did so. The menu was certainly not what I am used to in an Indian restaurant and it was great to have such a lovely choice of authentic food. Between us we chose from a mix of the pre-theatre menu and a la carte, and to be honest there was plenty of choice on the former. Ambiance was great too - nicer than the Dhabba with the first floor view over Candleriggs to the City Halls, and service was first class. I’d definitely recommend it and suggest you check out the array of breads.

Right in the heart of Glasgow city centre we decided to try the Southern Indian flavours. We were not disappointed, the menu offers a very different experience to most Indian restaurants & what we ate was absolutely fabulous. There are Covid 19 systems in place and the staff are happy to assist with menu choice. Treat yourself to a different Indian experience which is well worth the little extra they charge.

Good central Merchant City location. Table was booked for 5.30pm on Saturday, earlier than normal for us but any apprehensions alleviated re atmosphere as very busy even at earlier time. Offered a pre theatre fixed price menu but went a la carte which offered excellent choices. Generally well pleased especially with mains and sides. Only slight issue felt starters chosen were underwhelming and the fish starter was over salty. That aside thoroughly enjoyed, will definitely return and next time focus on a Dosa for main. Good friendly service and at £40 a head all in including drinks

We visited during Eat Out to Help Out, we were asked politely to use the hand sanitiser provided. The food was nice, however we felt it was not as good as some of the other Indian restaurants in the surrounding area. Service was generally pretty quick, until we were trying to get our bill, when it took quite a while to get someone's attention.

7 of us (old friends meeting up for the first time since the pandemic), had a fabulous lunch yesterday in Dakhin. We pre-ordered the Vegan Tasting Menu - great value at £22 per head. Pre-ordering also meant we had time to chat, without having to concentrate on choosing from the menu, which is quite extensive. All the dishes were delicious and distinctive, suiting 1 coeliac, 3 vegetarians, and all 3 of the others. There was plenty to go round and we even took 1 main dish home with us! The restaurant is airy and spacious, with attractive decor, and clean toilets. I can't wait to eat here again next time I'm in Glasgow! Thanks to the staff for fantastic food and service!

We came across this restuarant by accident, my friend was visiting from Forres and is GF and Im vegetarian..the meal, service and overall experience was superb. We were greeted quickly and shown to our table, given a glass to sample a wine we asked about, our waiter was so proffessional and attentive, cannot rate this restuarant highly enough as the food was different and excellent

Went here for dinner and will be back to try more. The food we had was all perfect and full of flavour. When we arrived we found they had a taster menu so everyone can try a little of everything I will be doing that next time. Atmosphere was good if a little loud for me personally. Unsure if they were busier than usual because although very friendly and the waiters remembered all of our order without writing it down we were left trying to get someones attention for a fair bit of time afterwards.

Having never been before we let the waitress recommend us our meals. Couldn’t have been more delicious. We had chicken and bahjis to start followed by a monkfish curry and chicken curry with coconut rice and bread selection. The staff were extremely attentive and it’s always so nice to be able to eat in a place you feel 100% safe as a coeliac! the waiter explained that the staff aren’t even allowed to bring gluten containing products on-site!

My wife and I went for dinner before the Pet Shop Boys gig. My wife had been there several times previously and highly recommended it. I had the batata bondi dumplings to begin followed by the Kodi biryani. My wife had the spicy stuffed mushrooms and the masala dosa. The chicken in my biryani was tender and the whole meal was very well spiced and tasty . I was glad it came with yogurt as I was feeling the heat of the meal as I was enjoying it. Only drawback for me was picking the cardamom pods out of my teeth but that' s authentic Indian cooking for you. My wife loved her choices too . With a large glass of merlot for me and a Botanist and tonic for her, the bill was just under£ 59, which I thought was reasonable Waiter service was friendly and relaxed, good customer service. If you are in Glasgow looking for delicious, authentic South Indian cuisine then Dakhin is highly recommended.

I had booked a table for 5.30pm so we could have a leisurely meal before a concert across the road at the City Halls. By 5.30 we were still stuck on the M80 having been there two hours. I called the restaurant and was told it wasn’t a problem, that a table would be kept and to call when we got moving. I called again at 6.45 with an arrival time of 7.10. We placed an order over the phone and arrived at the restaurant as planned. We were shown to a booth which had been kept for us in a very busy restaurant and the food arrived 5 minutes later. They couldn’t have been nicer and more accommodating and the food was utterly delicious. In fact the food was so good that we went back the following week to have the leisurely meal we’d planned and it was wonderful. We got to our concert 10 minutes late with full stomachs from a delicious meal and a warm glow from the care taken of us. Thank you. We will be back again and again.

Not suitable for elderly /disabled. Up a steep stairs. We were taken in a grubby lift with a chef?? with a very dirty apron, walked through an area full of boxes and bags of turnips etc. We ordered red wine..it was cold, I asked for a jug of boiling water to warm it. Food was okay( not what reviews lead me to expect) It was cold but toilets were clean. What really upset us, A staff member misled us as to the location of a nearby taxi ranj..He would not phone a taxi ??? We stopped at a nearby pub( we were so wt and cold by then) they phoned us a taxi Would never go back..this was meant to be a treat for something special..£74 later, it was far from what we expected.
