We found this by chance and even managed to get discount thanks to a voucher from the sightseeing bus tour. We had the 2 course deal for £19.99pp and I must say the choice selection and quality of food was excellent. The place was quaint French style, not over crowded and not franchise style. Waitresses were attentive and polite and we were served quickly and effectively. Would highly recommend this to any visitors.

La Bonne Auberge is a bit away from the main city centre but within a 10 to 15 minute walk. It is ideally situated for the Theatre Royal, the Pavilion and the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. Went with a group of friends for dinner. First time visit. The initial thing noticeable was the calm, pleasant atmosphere and the French decor was chic. Throughout the evening the staff were very friendly and attentive. The menu we had was a 2 course special for £19.95. My starter of Pearl Couscous Salad was delicious, the Braised Scotch Beef main course was really nicely cooked, well presented and plentiful and the Refreshing Mango Charlotte was superb. Two points. (1) Free Parking : If you dine at LBA and park after 5pm in the Concert Square Car Park just opposite the Brasserie, LBA will pay for the parking. All you have to do is park after 5pm, show your ticket to the Maitre’D and it will be stamped as paid. (2) The restaurant closes at 9.00 / 9.30pm but there is a late night service bar available afterwards. Overall, we had a terrific evening together with great service and lovely food which everyone enjoyed. I and all my friends would definitely recommend a visit to La Bonne Auberge.

We visited on a quiet Friday night. Despite the fact it was so quiet trying to get the attention of staff was particularly difficult. Had to practically wave one down Railway Children style at one point. The young server although nice enough in manner was not the best at his job. His knowledge of the menu was poor, he didn’t know what was included in the deals, what wine came with the deals and he wasn’t very present during the meal. The food arrived fairly quickly. The chicken terrine starter was quite bland and was only saved by the chutney it came with. My mum ordered the French onion soup to start with was just ok but quite salty. My sea bass main was nice, the buttery mash it came with was lovely as was the spinach and green veg. My Mum ordered the beef bourguignon which had to be sent back as it was as if the lid had fallen off the salt shaker. It was overly salty, even the manager who took it back agreed. The replacement dish took a while to arrive meaning we were cutting it fine for getting to our show at The Hydro. The overall experience was quite disappointing. There was very little atmosphere and it was very quiet considering it was a Friday night. I wouldn’t be rushing back.

Went to La Bonne Auberge with my partner for the 'Oui Afternoon Tea'. Pre booked for 2 pm. Arrived at 1.30 so explained the circumstances and agreed to sit in the lounge and have a drink. Waited about 15 minutes and watched others arrive and get served drinks. I had to go and ask to be served a drink. The girl arrived a few minutes later asking did we want the bill 🙄. Eventually we were served a drink. Went into restaurant part at 2 to have our 'Afternoon tea'. After a few minutes said girl took us to our table (the restaurant had 1 other couple in it - practically empty). We were abandoned again for half an hour until we enquired re our 'tea' (which consisted of sandwiches, scones, cream, jam etc). Crockery was placed on our table. At 2.45'ish we got our 'tea' served. I must say it was lovely and we really enjoyed it but the day was spoiled by the service. I would recommend the staff stop chatting, (I could tell you the complete social habits, social circle and amount of parking tickets they have received recently), and deal with customers paying a good deal of money for their service. I won't be back!

My friend and i went here for lunch on a 5pm deal before going to see a show. We had the fixed price lunch menu which was £14.95 for 2 courses and included a glass of wine. I had salmon rillettes to start & Rainbow trout for main. My friend had spiced vegetable soup and pork loin for main. The food was delicious and deal was very good value for money. I would highly recommend a visit.

I have eaten in this restaurant many times and never had cause to write a really bad review. Unfortunately, I have to do so now. As before, plus points are easily accessible for wheelchairs, lovely, helpful staff, two courses for £18.99. This time we all opted for main course only. Two of us chose duck and one opted for salmon. The waitress did ask if we minded the duck slightly pink and we said that was the best way to have it. When the food arrived it all looked great. The duck skin was properly renders and the accompaniments looked delicious. I cut into the edge and was happy with what I saw, but as I got further in, it was evident that the duck was raw. I could not even cut into it. When I turned it over, it was clear that the underside had had a very brief encounter with the pan. The other duck portion that the other diner had was excellent as was the salmon. I ate the accompaniments which were very good but had to complain about the duck. The waitress apologised and said she would report it to the chef. No apology. However, I was not charged for it when the bill came. I will go back at some point but will steer clear of the duck.

Firstly we love this restaurant and would highly recommend it. However, on our last visit things were not great. To be fair we were told it was the waitress's first night and that's understanble. Explains the few mix ups and we were given one our drinks on the house as an apology . My starter of bruscetta which is normally delicious was cold. For the dessert I ordered the selection of ice creams and sorbets but when I picked two ice creams and one sorbet I was told no. It is either 3 of one or 3 of the other. It says on the menu ice creams and sorbets, when I questioned why I was told I could have a sorbet as one dessert and a bowl of ice cream so just went for the ice creams. The next morning we had booked brunch on arrival we were rudely told you'll need to have a booking as we've literally just finished serving guests breakfast. we did but they couldn't find it and when I checked my confirmation email it was for the next week. That could have been my mistake but I was told you should always check as it happens sometimes. We were told we had to have a table in the bar as the restaurant was not set up, when I booked the table for 10.15 it says the brunch menu starts at 10. We will definitely be back and the food is normally brilliant and we always enjoy our experience but something was obviously wrong on our last visit.

My friends & I had a lovely relaxed lunch here last week. The soup was a welcome starter on such a cold day then the main course of pork loin was so very tasty. Glass of wine & coffee to finish left us feeling thankful for our choice of where to have our catch up lunch. The service was very good & supplied by pleasant staff. Thank you, keep up the good work. We visited this restaurant previously & didn't enjoy the experience as staff were not so pleasant but probably it could have been because they were busy & not enough staff on duty.

Like ALL restaurants, they cannot possibly suit every single individual taste. In my personal opinion, La Bonne Auberge is difficult to beat for something a little different or a special treat. My wife & I recently dined here for lunch & although it does appear more expensive than many other restaurants, I judge this relatively. Personally I find all the "fast food" competitors (as well as a vast many other restaurants) to be expensive as the food is never as good as it looks (or the menu describes), it is rarely ever something that you could not equal or better yourself at home, the decor tends to be ok-good, rarely ever much space between tables, very often tables are unclear/unclean, staff are regularly arrogant, unhelpful, uncaring or even sometimes downright rude (the same is definitely true of vast many customers, although fortunately not all) the toilets are often smelly, dirty lacking appropriate equipment &/or facilities are damaged (often wilfully/intentionally). Fortunately La Bonne Auberge is the polar OPPOSITE of the above; very welcoming, staff are friendly, efficient & extremely helpful. The restaurant is immaculate throughout, particularly the toilets with lovely simple extras, including quality liquid hand soap & hand lotions. Expertly arranged tables allow for maximum number of guests, yet still very aware & considerate to allow appropriate spacing so that you don't feel as if you intrude on other diner's (nor they on you). It is beautifully traditionally & comfortably designed with a very well stocked bar. The food is DELICIOUS, genuinely every single bite is a delight & very different from 'everyday restaurants' The service we received by a young lady was incomparable, she was excellent, many thanks & a special mention to Lauren, who is a genuine asset. All in all if you want to impress or treat someone to a complete all round near perfect dining out experience, then look no further than La Bonne Auberge I personally would rate 5/5 stars, highly recommend it & eagerly look forward to going back

We visited fairly early on Friday and the restaurant was fairly busy. We opted for the 2’s company menu which allowed us two courses each and a half carafe of wine for £37.50 The service was friendly, attentive and efficient, at just the right pace. The food (french onion and sun dried tomato and black pepper soups, beef bourgignon and paprika infused chicken) was all excellent - particularly the chicken and large portions. Tap water supplied at no charge, without having to ask. Very convenient for Royal Concert Hall, Pavilion Theatre and Cinema as well as bus and train stations.

The food was generally fine. The service was reasonable, but one waiter let the restaurant down. We went for the 'prix fixe' menu, but when it came to the dessert, the waiter simply didn't seem to understand this. He insisted that we would need to order off the 'a la carte' menu, and we would be charged at the 'prix fixe' menu price, which when the bill came, we weren't. We sent the bill back, and it came back reduced, but we still think that we were probably overcharged. Mix ups like this spoil what could have been a good experience. Probably due to poorly trained staff. The two waitresses were fine though. Not all dishes advertised on the menu were available, and several wines, on the not very inspiring wine list were not available either. Drinks were expensive.

We went there because it is near the Concert Hall as we were going to a concert there. We arrived before 6.00 and explained that we needed to leave before 7.30 for the concert. By 7.15 our main courses had not arrived, despite many requests that they move things along as we were on a deadline. The 'manager' was not contrite and claimed that he didn't know we were going to the concert, despite the fact that our friends told him that when they arrived at 5.50. He then proceeded to take several more minutes to produce a bill, suggesting that he was doing us a favour by not charging for the non existent main courses! The restaurant was less than 20% full. I'd hate to think what time you would need if it was busy.

Wine was very poor. Chenin Blanc was undrinkable. Pinot Grigio was passable. Picpoul was very nice. But what shocked us was there was a 5 per cent vat charged on top of that. So pinot grigio was 8 Pounds a large glass and picpoul was 8.50. So it was very expensive wine. Will not be back. Service was not at all good. It's our first ever disappointed visit.

Hi Pimmet1812, Thank you for taking the time to review your experience with La Bonne Auberge. I am sorry to hear our Chenin Blanc and Pinot Grigio was not to your liking. Printed on all of our bills for customer to view is our VAT breakdown. Due to government support we have been able to offer diners a VAT reduction from 20% to 5% on all food items with alcohol remaining at 20% VAT. Due to this you will have noticed the breakdown of both the 5% and 20% on your recent bill. This is in no way a surcharge to the cost of the items and is included in the prices advertised. I do apologies for the confusion this may have caused. Again I do apologies that a selection of our wine was not to your taste and do hope you give us another chance to try our selection in the future. Kind Regards, Niamh O'Donnell Restaurant Manager

We had our anniversary dinner at La Bonne Auberge last night. We were made to feel welcome straight away by our waiter, he was polite and cheerful. We chose the 321 offer, it was of good quality and value for money. We were presented with a glass of Prosecco each by a lovely and elegant young lady. We also were given complementary lemon sorbet with lemonchello, this was such a lovely gesture and really touched us. Thank you to the staff at La Bonne Auberge for making us feel so welcome. I visited here with my partner recently for an early dinner, and ordered from the prix fixe menu. For starters, we both had the french onion soup. The soup was very wholesome and filling, although near the end it did taste a little like washing up liquid, which obviously isn't too good. For my main, I ordered the Scottish Steak Haché. As someone who loves ordering a steak hache on my travels in France, I jumped at seeing this dish on the menu. Unfortunately, it was really, really disappointing. If you've ever ate a steak haché in France you'll know the taste and the difference, unfortunately what I was served was quite literally a beef burger without the bun. There was no shallots or even onions in it as is the staple of a steak hache, nor was there the typical thinness of the patty. It really was just a cooked plain burger with no bun. To make the meal even more bizarre the steak hache wasnt served with a side salad or even fries, instead the beef patty was placed in a bowl filled with thick sauce. Admittedly, the sauce was lovely, but albeit confusing. If you're going to put a steak hache on the menu, do it right or don't bother. It's no surprise you rarely see it in Scotland. To cap off our meal we shared a creme brûlée, which was delicious. Couldn't fault it. All in all - a hit and miss meal, maybe ruined for me by the "steak hache" which really does need to be fixed, name changed or taken off the menu. Our waiter, whose name I didn't catch - the man with the foreign accent and dreadlocks - was absolutely brilliant. Very, very attentive, warm & welcoming. Was clearly a new start but done his job well and with a smile. Send my regards to him please.
