Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My husband and I chose Bydand based on online reviews, and our B&B host also said it was a great choice because the owners prepare everything fresh and use local produce. The night we dined, there was a 4-course set menu with an amuse bouche,...choice of a starter, a sorbet as a palate cleanser, and choice of a main. I had a velvety carrot coriander veloute as my starter, and it was delicious. My husband had pork belly with sliced apple - also great. We both enjoyed our main dishes. The only problem was that we had no room for desserts as tempting as they looked. Highly recommend!More

We had the exquisite pleasure of dining at this perfect family run restaurant. The food was beyond all expectations, absolutely perfect balance of flavours and textures throughout. As a former chef, I can often find something to improve, but not here. Warm and friendly service...and excellent knowledge of their food. It was well worth the 699 miles drive to get hereMore

This restaurant didn’t look anything from the outside and therefore hid the jewel in the crown that it is. Walk inside and you will find out for yourself that sometimes you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. We are travelling the North Coast 500...and have stayed in 5 hotels previously and experienced 5 meals before this. I have been waiting for the 10/10 meal and this has to be it. The food was excellent, the staff were polite, attentive and showed a real pride in what they were serving. I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant because it serves the best and finest food I have tasted in Scotland. Thank youMore

I felt I had to write a review even just for the beautiful shortbread with the crème brûlée … I have never mmm’d so much when eating a dessert. We were shown to our table next to an open gas fire and suddenly Thurso felt...a lot cosier.. The set dinner menu had plenty of choices with veggie and vegan options and we had the veloute.. veggie risotto.. slow cooked beef and salmon fillet.. Along with a perfectly prepared seafood amuse bouche and elderflower palate cleanser. Everything was absolutely delicious and presented by very friendly staff. We couldn’t fault it A great find.More

Coming in this quiet village we used TripAdvisor for finding a good Location for Dinner. And we didn t get disappointed at all. A nice welcome from the very nice Team. G&T always help to start the evening They offer a 3 course Menue which...make meat and vegi lover happy. The starter ( vegi risotto and soup) went into our happy soul. Interrupted by a sorbet helped for the main courses Even on distraction on the main menue was quickly solved by the Team. We would go there again any timeMore

They start with a nice amuse bouche and there’s a refreshing sorbet palate cleanser. I especially recommend the sea bass starter!

We had a fantastic meal here last week. We were up at Noss for a break and so delighted I found this restaurant. It is a set menu for dinner with plenty of choice for anyone’s tastes. We both thoroughly enjoyed everything. Highest quality food...cooked perfectly with lovely waitresses. We were too full for dessert but they looked delicious too.More

The best restaurant in Thurso. Family run, offering a fabulous set menu with delicious local produce. We booked in advance and paid £20 deposit. The food was perfect as was the service. Would definitely recommend booking if you’re visiting the area.
