This is a small family owned and run restaurant serving traditional Scottish food. The menu is a set meal with starter, sorbet and main course. There is a good choice of dishes with many GF and some vegetarian. There is also a good selection of...drinks available. The staff are very welcoming and attentive. We enjoyed it.More

Working our way around the NC500 with friends a quick Google seemed to show that this restaurant, a 10 minute walk from the town caravan park, might be a good bet. And it was! Family run, with mum and daughter up front and dad as...the excellent chef back stage, the delicious food was professionally served and our visit to the Bydand was one of the high points of our holiday in this beautiful part of the UK. Recommended.More

Just had dinner in this fabulous restaurant in thurso. Food was amazing, service excellent and can't fault anything. Good value for the standard of food and service - and the wine was lovely, too.

We ate here for dinner as part of a stop off whilst doing the NC500. Delicious food and brilliant service. Every course was superb, particularly enjoyed the Haggis bonbons, elderflower palette cleanser and the Orkney fudge cheesecake. Really nice restaurant environment, with the family team...taking time to chat to us. Happy memories.More

Oh my goodness, absolutely incredible. Everything was cooked from scratch and to perfection. If only we didn’t live 500 miles away. The staff were knowledgable, friendly and Bydand is a family run business so you really got a personal touch. The sea bass starter was...a stand out dish. Book as it gets busy, you’ll not be disappointed.More

Amazing food. The chef clearly takes pride in his work and the waitress couldn't have been nicer. Would eat here again without hesitation.

My wife and I stayed in Thurso overnight as part of our NC500 holiday and the couple who run the B&B we stayed at highly recommended Bydand. Like everyone else here we were blown away by the quality of food. The menu is compact, yet...I feel will cater to all tastes. We had the haggis and salmon for starters, beef cheek for main, crème brûlée and chocolate delice for dessert. We were both blown away by the flavours and the quality of ingredients. It’s up there with the very best we’ve eaten and by far our nicest dining experience on our holiday. Bydands is a family run business (2 sisters and Dad) and the sister waiting made us feel at home. We couldn’t fault anything and hopefully one day we’ll be back to enjoy another excellent dining experience.More

Would support all other positive reviews of this fine family establishment. My wife and I had soup and haggis Bon Bons to start which was truly excellent. We both then enjoyed the beef which came with plenty of red wine jus and was very rich...and fully flavoursome. The wine list was good and very reasonably priced. Whilst all the food was excellent what was truly wonderful was this is a family business with father and daughter in the kitchen, Mum front of house normally but tonight another daughter standing in wonderfully well. Thoroughly recommended…..More

If you follow for A96 for Inverness then the A9 to Thurso. This would take you to us although this is about a 4.5-5hr journey from Aberdeen. Hope this helps. Best Regards Brian
