Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This hotel&restaurant definitely has a vintage charm. We stayed at a B&B in the next town and just went for dinner. We did not have any expectations other than to get a warm meal. What we got: the best Steak&Ale pie we‘ve ever eaten. It...was the most unexpected find on our entire trip.More

Stayed for 3 nights, the owner?Peter was very pleasant and very informative.Food menu not very big but they did what they did well, and Peter went out of his way to chat to everyone. The place is what it is! Very clean but yes it...has the charm of an old building. Our room was in the annex and was quite big. The surrounding area is stunning and worth a visit .More

I have eaten in many places and was looking forward to a nice meal as others had recommended the hotel. They were there quite a few years ago though. Myself and my father ate there on the 29th of May I had the haggis to...start, which was expensive for a slice of haggis on just as much potato with a splash of gravy over the top. It wasn’t very tasty, but I was hungry after a day travelling. My father had veg spring rolls which he said were very bland. We both had the Thai chicken curry and all I can say is that there were chewy chunks of chicken in a green soup with rice in the side. Not a vegetable to be seen. All served in an old pudding bowl (small) and we were given a spoon to eat it. The bottled beer was fine, but nothing else. It’s also very run down and nothing like the website. I did try to book to stay, but fortunately (now) there was no availability. I heard the young waiter tell other guests the salmon was off the menu. The burger looked like something out of Mcdonalds! I won’t be back! We are in the Slaters arms in Cannich the next night, which was fine though small portions. A more reasonable price with more selection of drinks.More

During our holiday in Tomich we ate out here twice and both times it was excellent. The food was all perfectly prepared and very scrumptious. Service efficient and friendly. Well worth visiting. We recommend booking in advance as it gets busy.

We dined here as it was the only place accessible from our holiday cottage. Although late in the season we were made welcome, despite that fact that we we were the only people dining. The food was wholesome and filling. The owners were pleasant and...made an effort to engage us in conversation. There was a nice log burning stove and our dog was made welcome too.More

Being the only restaurant in Tomich we were limited to choice and first impressions on decor wasn’t great but the staff and the food were! We had a really tasty curry, fish & chips and dessert was yummy too! Little pricey but all in all...a pleasant surpriseMore

We were unsure what to expect when we first arrived as the restaurant is a little dated and it was very quiet so there was not much atmosphere, however the food and the service could not be faulted. Delicious!

A real hidden gem, in the beautiful historic village of Tomich in lovely wooded surroundings. Traditional pub/hotel with a nice large garden. Excellent food, large portions and very well cooked. Recommend the Sunday roast. Staff very friendly and helpful, efficient service.

We popped in here whilst we dropped family to perform local walks. It is a fantastic hidden gem. The staff could not do enough for you. They were so welcoming. We had a cup of tea and cakes. The quality of the cakes was truly...amazing. We would definitely recommend and we will be back to this place for a full meal in the restaurant next time.More

Quaint hotel in a lovely village. Food ok but overpriced. Horrible, rude manager! Wouldn’t go back or recommend.

We can definitely recommend this place - new owners since our last visit, but just as friendly and helpful. Good choice of starters, main courses and puddings. Staff were attentive and welcoming - even introducing us to new rums and whiskies. Hopefully we will be...back next year.More

Strange experience whilst dining. I thought hospitality was about being welcoming. Sadly not so much of that here. Our server wasn’t friendly, didn’t seem to want to serve us and made zero effort to make us feel welcome. Food was fine but not brilliant. Pretty...sad really as I’ve been supporting this hotel off and on for 20 yrs now. I doubt I’ll ever darken their doors again whilst under this ownership.More

A small, slightly dated highland hotel with bar/ restaurant. We enjoyed three meals during our stay at Tomich Holiday lodges .I found they were good for children, and catered for a vegetarian based diet as well as those favouring conventional bar food.Traditional fish and chips, steak pie as well...as Thai chicken curry and veggie haggis were all excellent.Home made Spring rolls and a good crumble all made with skill. All fresh, hot and well presented. Thanks to the chef and friendly ,helpful front of house staff. Simple and tasty….More
