Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The best meal we've had on our trip. We were treated like gold and had a wonderful time. I had the risotto and it was divine.

After a long day on a tour bus seeing the beautiful highlands, we were looking forward to this dinner. My wife got the carbonara and I got the venison/haggis burger. My burger was good…another great way I had haggis. Make sure you have reservations!

We and another couple were on a driving vacation, staying a couple of days in Inverness. We had read earlier reviews that recommended the Fig & Thistle, so we gave it a try. To sum it up, we certainly were not disappointed. It turned out...to be a great night of delicious food, whiskey sampling, many local beers, and lively conversation. This is a nice bistro, offering a good variety of apps and main meals, delivered with fast service in a friendly atmosphere. Great place to take in the local vibe and nice that it's off the beaten path. Highly recommend.More

Wonderful welcome to start. We had the perfect table for a family gathering. Food is absolutely delicious and worth trying. Selection on menu was perfect, reduced choice made it easy to choose what to have. We were not disappointed. Wine went perfectly with mains. Pudding...choices varied and again, perfect end to a delicious meal. Coffees, fresh and authentic. Abdellah is the perfect host, made us feel so welcome and took care of us. Can't recommend more highly the food and atmosphere.More

This restaurant seems to be really struggling. Everything including drinks at the beginning ( and a HOT) glass for the cold beer were very slow. Like S L O W. My original thought was to order 2 entrees instead of entree + main, which I...wish I had done as the entree was vastly better than the main. The main was ok but not amazing. Salmon was overcooked, and the Asian chicken was beyond way too salty due to the Korean sauce. If we lived in Inverness we would not go back, but they rely on new tourists every day. We didn’t order dessert because we didn’t want to wait another 45 minutes.More

We were looking forward to eating here, given the reviews. Food was good (ribeye steak and tempura prawn were nice, cauliflower risotto less so). Service, however, was somewhere between indifferent and rude. They forgot my mother’s goat cheese order and had to prepare it after...everyone got their plates. Then they never brought our second drink order but still had it on the cheque - said they still owed it to us … but we were leaving at that point (they did ultimately take it off the bill without issue). We also wanted to have dessert, but with a shrug one of the waiters told us they were very busy so we’d have to wait at least 20 minutes for dessert. Yet while we were there, three different waiters left for the evening. Maybe we just chose a bad evening to visit. Either way, it wasn’t a positive experience.More

A fun little local spot with really great food. The venison/haggis burger was outstanding! The wine list was very good for such a small restaurant. We will return!

Food was very reasonable on the lunch menu deal. The fish and chips was delicious and the portion sizes were perfect for lunch. Welcoming atmosphere and managed to secure a sunny spot by the window. I was able to work there even during their lunchtime...rush with decent free WiFi too. Abdellah really looked after me. Will definitely return during my stay in Inverness.More

Good variety of food and beverages. Meal sizes were above average and a couple of free treats will also given to us before our meal. Excellent quality and service, we will be back.

A wonderful meal. Perfectly cooked, presented and portioned. Friendly staff who assisted in a professional manner and answered our questions cheerfully and honestly. The only negative was that we booked a number of days ago and had requested an upstairs table. The table was ‘given...away’ by another staff member so we were offered the table at the window. This table should only be offered to children! Difficult to enter and exit, due to the size of the table, most uncomfortable squash while eating. Still a fabulous place to enjoy exceptional food.More

Cannot fault the Fig & Thistle - service lovely, food delicious, nice ambience and it is priced fairly in the current economic climate - I have no hesitation in recommending you try it.
