Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked in to the hotel overnight and also for dinner. What a good decision! The food was outstanding! A fabulous fish pie and sensational fish and chips. Delicious starters and desserts too. Attentive and friendly staff and great ambience. We loved it. Breakfast the...next morning was also excellent. Would highly recommend!More

Food and service were excellent. Great gluten free options. Had the dinner special with the sauce changed to a gf option and it was delicious.

I enjoyed my visit. I had the duck breast , which was very good. I’m not usually a fan of duck breast, so that tells you how good it was. there was nothing else on the menu I wanted . I was going to order...the salmon, but they told me it was farm raised when I enquired. I appreciate their honesty. The pain au chocolate bread pudding was also very good. Service was a bit spotty. They were preparing for a party of 40. Atmosphere was niceMore

We booked to go to Browns Restaurant on Sunday 10th September and are we glad we did :) The staff were so welcoming and professional and nothing was too much trouble. We had 3 perfectly presented and cooked courses that tasted so good and all...for a very reasonable cost. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area :)More

Went here for dinner after completing the West Highland Way. Lovely food, attentive staff, a real treat. After quite a lot of pub grub along the walk, this was a delicious meal with some lovely vegetables.

Lovely restaurant, from the service to the food. Attracted by the name of the restaurant being my surname we enjoyed it.

Food excellent only downside was inattentive serving staff, with 3 talking at the bar for several minutes which meant actually going up to the bar to order another drink mid meal.

I really don’t get the top reviews of this place. The food was nothing special, just average. The cod and lamb dish we got as main course will not get a special place in our memory, the cod not in the least because of the...ridiculously small portion. The espresso I ordered to finish my dinner was just awful. The performance of the restaurant personnel also had a high degree of “Fawlty Towers” : one waitor simply could not remember the wine we and other guests had ordered (he was sent back not less than three times during our visit because he managed repeatedly to bring the wrong wine at the guests’ table). When cleaning one of the tables, the salt var was catapulted through the dining room with a lot of noise. The final act consisted of a very young waitor who was simply not capable of calculating the tip when I gave him the total amount I wanted to pay. “OMG, this device asks me to add a tip in GBP and I just can’t figure out what the difference is between the amount you would like to pay and the initial amount of the bill”. We released the poor guy from his challenge and shared the amount he had to key in with him. Was this an “off-day” of the restaurant? Anyhow, unfortunately this time a dinner experience to quickly forget.More

Great food, friendly people! We had the Lamb and the Duck, both very nice. You need to book in advance, it's a very busy restaurant.

Brown’s is in Nevis Bank Inn in Fort William. While I’d have to say the inn is a basic motel, the restaurant is a very pleasant surprise. Dinner was obviously prepared by a talented chef. My dessert was “chocolate surprise” and it was almost too...beautiful to eat. No matter where you stay in Fort William, make a reservation and eat at Brown’s!!More

Great food and very friendly service. We all enjoyed our meals and it was a most pleasant experience. I had the blagged balls as starter and the roast cod as a main, perfectly cooked and a good portion, we were not rushed despite them being...busy.More

We ate at Browns since we were staying at Nevis Bank Inn. The location of the hotel is a bit of a walk from the town center so we decided to book a dinner reservation at Browns. The food was solid - we ordered linguini,...chicken supreme, and another dish I forget. We also got a lovely sticky toffee dessert. Service was fine and my only complaint is that the meal was very expensive for what we ordered. Nearly $25 for a linguini with chicken is a bit much for a dish that is mostly pasta.More
