I went with my family several years ago, visiting Scotland and we were headed to the very nearby Eilean Donan Castle. We stayed overnight with dinner and breakfast in the morning and found spontaneous courtesy from the managers and staff. It is located right on a lake, a small but beautiful place and in the evening its bistro is filled with people who come from the valley to taste the infinite variety of beers they offer. Never seen a counter with so many thorns!!! I recommend everyone to stop by, but book in advance from Italy, because it is truly on a human scale.

I loved this place. It's very underrated but can't figure out why as its a wee gem. We sat in the wee alcove, looking out over the Loch, and it was just lovely. The staff were very polite and accommodating. I was a pain in the neck as I don't like peas, so they gave me some deliscious roasted broccoli instead. My daughter and I had fish and chips, and my husband had venison sausages with a lovely creamy mash. I had intended to have a pudding but was so full that I could barely finish my plate and didnt manage the dessert. We have been staying on Skye for a week, and the food here was significantly cheaper than on the Isle itself. I would recommend stopping in here for a meal rather than driving past or take a wee sojourn off the island and pay a visit!

We stop here everytime on the way through to Harris because the food is always good and the atmosphere warm and friendly. We were not disappointed on our visit this time. I had a large bowl of Hummus with homemade flatbreads and a rocket and parmesan salad on the side and some chips, absolutely yummy and perfect, I didn't want a main meal. A good choice of Gluten free food was available for one of our party who has Coeliac. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Consistently good food, friendly hard working staff and all in a gorgeous location. I highly recommend this as a great place to eat - do book a table as it is popular!

Do not believe the posh website. This place under delivers in almost every aspect. Popped in for evening meal and drinks with friends. The staff were unfriendly, the beer wasnt great, they had a poor choice of whiskys and the atmosphere was depressing. The decor needs dragging out of the seventies. To top it all off we had a dry burger on a burnt brioche bun which no one could eat. Really disappointing considering the websites promises

28th September this is our 2nd meal here this week… we’ve walked 12mile in total to come & have tea here as the food is scrumptious, bar staff are friendly, read previous reviews about staff and decor but it’s quirky, local and different and really when the food is as good as it is, what does it matter if the decor is not your cup of tea… We’ve eaten haggis Bon bons, haddock & chips, steak & ale pie with yummy vegetables, lamb curry which is not just a curry…. They even bother with your 4 legged friends too by making sure they have water etc. So treat your taste buds and stop here..

Kintail Lodge completely surpassed expectations. Service was friendly, helpful and welcoming and food was delicious. Staff were able and willing to provide recommendations on local gins (the Highlander, kefir lime and bitter orange is really good) and were helpful and inclusive regarding dietary requirements on the menu. Each course of food was delicious, so much so that we went for three courses each! The specials were original and creative and we ordered from both main menu and specials board. The whole experience completely surpassed expectations and would highly recommend a trip here for their delicious, and exceptionally well priced, food. Their COVID measures are clear and of excellent standard also.

My husband and I were finding it hard to find a place for dinner while staying hear the Isle of Skye and stumbled upon Kintail Lodge while searching online. We made a reservation for dinner and were not disappointed. We loved the seasonal menu and that they had vegan/vegetarian options on the menu without having to ask if they could accommodate my dietary restrictions. Our food was amazing and if we could have come back twice for dinner, we would have.

We were fitted in a couple of weeks ago after I dalled at short notice and we were so glad we went. I had the mussels in white wine , garlic an cream sauce and my husband had the fish . Both beautifully cooked and reasonably priced and the staff were great too . An excellent meal and I'm sure we will be back again soon

I feel so privileged to have been able to take Mum away for a mini break after months of self isolation due to Covid 19. Mum is 83 and very interested in everything and I had so wanted to take her on the Jacobite Steam Train from Fort William to Mallaig. Kintail Lodge had been recommended by my god-daughter Emily, who worked in the kitchen last year. Three of us booked into a family room, Mum, my sister and myself and we had the most delicious cullen skink soup on the first night – so good and made with double cream that we ordered it as a main course the following night. The restaurant is not smart, but spotless, friendly and small enough for guests to share tips on what to do, from the other tables (all socially distanced). Kintail Lodge is a marvellous place, friendly with excellent, attentive staff. Despite the scaffolding on the hotel, the lock side view in the early morning was typical of a Scottish Highland landscape, all whirling mist and moody. We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights but do leave enough time to get to Fort William if catching the train as it's 59 miles; we missed the Jacobite Steam Train from Fort William but managed to catch the ordinary service to Mallaig and then were able to return on the steam train.

My wife and I ate here one evening whilst in the area and unfortunately it was enough to put us off eating there again. While we are gutted that we only gave 2 stars as the staff themselves deserved 5, we could not give a higher score when rating the food. The choice was not great and the place had a very limited menu. When checking their website it mentions venison and we were really looking forward to sampling some. But there was no option on menu. Whether this is due to them being limited by Scotland's (still) Draconian rules or a recent refurbishment is unclear My wife had the steak and ale pie and was unable to eat the chips as they were so overcooked that they were inedible. I had a very fatty and bland lamb curry but I will say I had the haggis scotch egg starter and wish I'd just had that and been able to improve the score I have given Would we eat here again? Nope

We wanted a pleasant evening meal but that was not what we got. The menu was very limited but we shrugged our shoulders at that. My husband chose grilled haddock. It looked okay but had the texture of mashed potatoes and was somewhat undercooked. I chose steak and ale pie. The flavour was peculiar and the meat gristly. My roasted vegetables were not al dente, they were impossible to cut with my knife. We gave our opinion of the meal but received little response. Definitely NOT the place to go.

We are very sorry that you didn’t enjoy your meal and couldn’t find anything pleasing on our two page menu, which offers a selection of vegan and vegetarian, meat and fish dishes. It was difficult for our staff to rectify the situation as you only brought this to their attention after you had finished your meal.

Enjoyed a delicious meal here. Jolene served us and was very friendly. The potato and smoked cheese soup was amazing and my husband enjoyed the artichoke starter. My family really enjoyed their burgers, they were homemade, medium and meaty. I had chickpea and butternut squash Dahl with pomegranate raita, rice and homemade naan. It was all so so tasty. A small but perfect menu.

We booked a meal here, based on the location and proximity to the end of a long walk. We had pre dinner drinks served in the garden and then enjoyed a fabulous meal in the restaurant. The starters were all fantastic- but the chicken parfait was the winner! Mains didn’t disappoint either, and the waitress even nipped out to collect my husband who was on the last leg of his walk! Lovely, friendly atmosphere, fab food and a memorable start to our holiday. Thank you Kintail Lodge!

Me and two friends had hiked over the 5 Sisters and were ready for big eats. The staff at the Kintail looked after us really well and we had a good chuckle with the lovely waitress about the definition of seafood (caused by my stupidity!). The food was great, big portions at decent prices. The three of us left full and happy.

We were driving from Skye to Fort William and wanted to stop for lunch on a Sunday , in which many places were closed. I went on TripAdvisor and this pub was open. Authentic, cosy pub with a water view. Food was great, the Cullen skink soup delicious, as well as the fish + chips and the Pot pie. Great location too.
