First time back to The Albany this year and first most can I say I felt really safe. All the staff are wearing masks, hand gel is encouraged and distance between tables ideal. Track and trace system is in place and with all the COVID rules, The Albany still maintains a relaxing and comfortable environment. The food is fantastic, varied menu, promptly served and hot,All in all, it’s sound! Can’t wait to come back !

This was the perfect choice for a pre theatre meal. There is a really good set menu but I had a lovely steak sandwich from the main menu then was too full for pudding. Good selection of drinks. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice venue too.

What a fantastic venue to hold a music/rock venues, the old church is thriving with music upstairs and meals down stairs, the only minor complaint is.....not enough room to have everyone in the same room, the bar is too small and cramped and trying to pay for your meal takes a little longer than expected, but the meals are value for money and very tasty. The service is friendly and attentive, would definitely recommend the Albany, and shall be back soon..

Food was vile, just paid £15 for a hummus wrap with no hummus in it, got offered free drinks because of it, we ordered tap water, so thanks for not charging us for tap water. Waitress was dismissive, didn’t care. Can’t believe I walked away giving you money for nothing there. 0/10 Disgrace of a venue

Well been here so many times and loved it ... but tonight what a let down ... Cant have anything bit the pre theatre.. which didn't suit my diet . The beef and sausage pie was lacking the actual beef . Waitress really wasn't concerned or interested in my comments ... Given the bill without asking is we were actually finished and then told.order anything else at the bar .. Shame it used to be such a good place , but so so bad

My friend booked this establishment for a party of six for last Thursday 2nd June, especially requesting a a table against the wall, purely because one of the party has back problems and against a wall gives her better support. She was assured that such a table would be reserved. On arrival at the restaurant we were shown to a table in the middle of the floor. My friend spoke to waitress and explained this was not the table booked, she apologised and said they were awaiting a party of sixteen and the seats requested had been allocated to them. When the aforementioned guest with the back problem arrived she was most uncomfortable and we again requested a move. This time we spoke with a lady who appeared to be in charge, her attitude was of complete indifference, more or less like it or lump it. When the said party of sixteen duly arrived, we appeared to pale into insignificance. All hands were on deck for the larger party, and we did in fact wait for 15 minutes to place our sweet order, and another ten to have it served. The food was average but well presented and the two young waitresses very helpful and pleasant. I cannot speak for the rest of the party, but I will never return, to somewhere that makes you feel insignificant.

I booked a birthday treat for my daughter and grandson at the Albany because of the great reviews for the Afternoon Tea and the promise of a Vegan- Friendly menu. Two were to have Afternoon Tea and I the would choose from the lunch menu. We started with teas and coffee but were told that there were no alternative milks available. These are on every supermarket shelf! There was I single vegan option on the lunch menu, a peppers and coleslaw wrap with salad. I was informed that there was no vegan coleslaw available so I went ahead with a pepper wrap with salad. It was no more than adequate. 40 minutes after I was served with my lunch my daughter had to ask where the Afternoon Teas were. They had been forgotten. When they arrived, with apologies, they were unremarkable. I have had Afternoon Teas in several restaurants and this was easily the poorest. The staff were lovely but no discount was offered. A most disappointing experience all round. We will not return.

Hello Pauline, Thank you for leaving your review. It's always great to get feedback from our customers...even when we aren't doing our best. We're really sorry you didn't enjoy your visit with us at The Albany on this occasion. Like you said, we always have great reviews and feedback on our Afternoon Teas but unfortunately on this occasion we weren't able to meet your expectations. You were offered a complementary drink on the house to which one of your guests accepted a Peroni and your tea was taken off your bill therefore a discount wouldn't be offered in addition to the complementary drinks. We do hope that you'll appreciate this isn't the service we pride ourselves on and that you'll reconsider and book again with us at The Albany. Thanks again for taking the time to leave your review and we hope your daughter was able to enjoy the rest of her birthday. The Albany Team.

Was a terrible experience. Everything wrong . Would mot recommend. We waited over 30 minutes after starter to main course even though the table next to us had starter after us but then was served main course. Gammon was like tinned and Christmas pudding was not like real Xmas pudding. Over all not a good dinner so won't be back.

Visited recently and had the fish and chips(large portion not child portion). Food arrived and I had to ask waitress if this was the large portion. Fish was half a haddock fillet, and I got 10(yes 10) chips. Food was tasty enough, but left the place still hungry....will not be rushing back I'm afraid.

There used to be a few vegan options on the menu for lunchtime, but today my only option was to have the veggie breakfast without eggs. This was tasty but there used to be a vegan wrap that was delicious or the option of avocado on toast, which I love, but apparently they no longer offer avocado anymore. Their wasn’t a vegan soup option either. Really disappointing as I live nearby.

We came for afternoon tea today and it was really lovely. We were greeted when we came in. The table was set up lovely, with a special wee cup for my granddaughter. The waiting staff were very friendly and attentive. The sandwiches were fresh with lovely fillings, scones and cakes delicious. I would recommend the Albany to any one wanting afternoon tea. Thank you for the lovely day.

Terrible venue Family are planning an 80th party for my nana and decided to book the Albany way in advance in November for the end of this month. To everyone's shock the Albany made the decision to double book a 21st party but in their decision placed the 21st party in the function room ( that we booked for my nana) and decided to put us up the stairs in the restaurant that has no room for anything, all without asking permission or even letting anyone know that's what they did! On top of that, she lied to my sister and me about phoning my aunt to let her know about the change. My aunt had no idea that anything had been changed. How arrogant and unprofessional do you have to be to do that to your paying customers?! I thought the whole point in a deposit was to secure the hall that you book 🤔 When confronted with this matter the events manager of the Albany only had that " it wasn't her problem" to say. RUDE MUCH!!😡 This place is unprofessional and their attitude towards paying customers is disgusting. I advise anyone planning to book any sort of event to steer well away from the Albany as they clearly can't be trusted to secure your special day, whatever it may be.

We booked as a family of 5 after spending a lovely Christmas Day at The Albany 2 years ago. The portions then were plentiful and food was excellent then. Sadly on this occasion it wasn't the same. The salmon and prawn starter was nice but the melon had some kind of sauce like tzatziki which 2 of our party didn't like. The main issue was the main course. The turkey seemed reformed as every slice was exactly the same in thickness and size. It didn't look like it had been carved at all. The stuffing appeared manufactured as it was all of us had the a perfect circle with the same thickness and it had no taste. The pigs in blankets were so undercooked none of our party ate them. The staff however were excellent, the quality of food was not their fault. Sadly we won't be back to spend Christmas at the Albany.

We attended here for an event in January and the staff were attentive and supportive. The venue is well located and easy to access and the prices are reasonable too. The function room is big enough for the events and I would recommend The Albany for events.
