4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed yesterday NEW

Cosy atmosphere immediately apparent on walking through the door assisted by low wooden beams. Candle arrangement around the fireplace set off the festive feel. Very friendly helpful staff. Very tasty appetisers. Delicious salmon starter, exceptional lambs liver followed by superb pear mousse. One of those rare occasions when there were no regrets with any of the three choices from the... More

My friend and I arrived at 6:20 for our booking and service was prompt. Once we explained we were out for an evening and not rushing to the theatre the service slowed down, which suited us perfectly! Lovely canapés before our meal. Food was from a limited but interesting menu and we both enjoyed it. This was my first time... More

Had our Bookclub Annual Christmas Lunch - well almost! Festive menu hadn't started yet, much to our dismay. (Xmas menu looks lovely!) Still .. had a beautiful lunch. The service was wonderful and so friendly, which is a rare delight these days! Thanks Katja! I had the haggis neeps and tatties for starter ... which was lovely, but crying out... More

Nearly a year since last visited for lunch and the standards remain exceptionally high. Fantastic value menu for lunch with very original and different dishes. This is a slick operation run by husband (in the kitchen) and wife (front of house). Service is v professional and courteous and the restaurant is full of character with all the wood panelling. My... Oh where do I start, wonderful, intimate and food to die for all at a reasonable price for the quality we were served. Staff lovely and helpful. Pre theatre menu a bargain. PLEASE BOOK, to avoid disappointment.

2nd time at this place and equally as impressed on visit two. I started with scallops which were beautifuly cooked and accompanied the onion sauce with it. I then had beef cheeks cooked to perfection. The complimentary bread also very tasty. I finished with poached pear a nice way to complete the meal. In addition very friendly staff and good... More

I'll get this out of the way up front, I have never, at any price eaten a meal where the food was better presented than this. It really was stunning. And this was on a £16 3 course lunch menu. Absolutely amazing. As a photographer I just wanted to photograph it all...but I was hungry. (Owners: if you ever need... More

Quality in everything they do. Service friendly and relaxed. Menu is varied with great mix of fish and meat (veg options also looked good). Outstanding presentation of every course. Cannot fault this restaurant. Lunch for four, with varied choices, every dish was enjoyed, faultless. Highly recommended.

Quirky restaurant in an old building with naturally chatty and friendly owner and staff.Only slight blip was the crab starter, although beautifully presented it was just lacking something in taste. The mains were another story altogether. My wife commented the pork belly was one of the best she had ever had, the John Dory special was equally as good.Would definitely... More
