Pitcairngreen Inn is called Perthshire's hidden gem, on their website, and it really is. We had 6 different dishes, all homemade, all delicious. If you get the chance to eat there, take it - the food is amazing. Service is good too and the chef is very accommodating with dietary requirements. It's easy to get to and there is loads of parking space. Can't say enough good things about this place. I'm looking forward to going back.

We went to the Pitcairngreen Inn for an evening meal on the recommendation of our AirBnB host and we weren’t disappointed.
The staff were very friendly, the service was great, the food was excellent and the portions generous.
We will definitely be back!

The Pitcairngreen Inn is a cosy restaurant that operates alongside a lively village pub. We went for dinner while staying at a nearby hotel, and would thoroughly recommend visiting. There were a good selection of specials on offer alongside the main menu of traditional pub favourites. The portion sizes were generous, and the food was delicious and keen to advertise its home-made credentials. It was also a pleasant surprise to receive the bill, as it was the cheapest main meal of our holiday, representing excellent value for money. Finally, as the sign outside proudly proclaims, they've been dog-friendly since 1788, which is surprisingly rare in this part of the world.

This place is a little diamond of a restaurant/village inn/community pub in a village just outside Perth. Parking in car park opposite. On a bus route.
On a sunny day sitting outside you could watch the world go by, plus enjoy some delicious home cooked goodies served by really friendly lovely staff.
Would be lovely to have more comfortable seating outside.
We have visited a few times and enjoyed it.
Today we opted for the macaroni (lovely, requested no salad but wasn’t offered veg). Scampi & chips and a special ‘ciabatta with scampi & salad’ swapped crisps for chips. What I wasn’t told was it had a spicy ‘something’ in it, that sadly wasn’t for me, don’t do spicy so it did spoil my meal. The chips were enjoyed by everyone. They offer small portion plates too.
Dessert, yep we had room. Despite homemade Ice-cream on offer all three of us plumped for the after eight cheesecake. My suggestion to share was flatly refused ! So glad it was it was heavenly !! Served with vanilla ice cream each plate went back empty. For this alone it’s worth a visit.
Cost - 3 soft drinks £2.20 for a can of juice perhaps slightly excessive.
3 soft drinks, 3 meals & 3 desserts £58.90.
On average with town centre prices.

This was a return visit, we’ve eaten here a few times in the past, we always thought it was a nice experience and good value. However this time it wasn’t up to standard, I had the rump steak, it was a bit tough and the chips were very limp, they looked and tasted greasy, not very appetising, My wife had the macaroni, she liked what she got, she might just make me come back and give it another go.
However my disappointment was further compounded when I found out they no longer served Guinness, they have replaced it with London Stout, I tried it, it didn’t come remotely close as an alternative to Guinness, how could it, Guinness is a centuries old tried and tested stout that’s served successfully locally … and all over the world

Living locally to this gem we visit every few weeks - their handling of all things Covid-19 related has been epic, creatively offering an amazing takeaway service during lockdowns on the weekend. Now that they have been getting back to business as usual, the service continues to be amazing while maintaining safety and the food always deliver on freshness, taste and value for money. I can't recommend a particular dish as they are all great, the chefs cook everything to order, using fresh locally sourced ingredients and then add their own flair.

My husband, two miniature schnauzers and I recently stopped by this gorgeous little country pub after a day trip to Perth.
We walked around the pretty village green in Pitcairngreen and spotted the pub.
We did not have a booking but the friendly and welcoming staff were delighted to accommodate us and the dogs. It was a Saturday lunchtime in early March and it was quite busy but not too mobbed, which was lovely.
We were seated at a nice bright window seat, looking out watching lots of people walking and cycling by. It’s a GREAT little people watching spot.
Menus were given and drinks order was served really quickly, the waitress also brought us some dog biscuits for our dogs……..really nice touch.
My husband ordered the southern fried chicken in blue cheese sauce with chips and salad. The chicken was HUGE. All crunchy and delicious on the outside and well cooked and tender on the inside. The cheese sauce was to die for.
Home made chips were a real bonus.
I had scampi, chips and peas with a really tasty tartar style sauce, but you could tell a mile away it was home made, again a really lovely touch. All of our food was delicious.
All around the bar/dining area we could hear people commenting on how amazing their meals were, the menu is so varied and everything coming out of the kitchen looked superb. Massive portion sizes all round.
We will DEFINITELY be returning soon as the Pitcairngreen Inn is the perfect country pub, in a beautiful village location, with fantastic food and the prices were super reasonable too.
10/10 from us and our dogs!!!!

Read loads of great reviews so thought we'd give this place a visit. To say it didn't live up to the hype is an understatement! I have no idea how this place has such highly rated reviews?
Food I had was terrible. I had the veggie burger of the day which was a spicy lentil burger. It was the driest burger I have ever had. No lettuce no tomatoes no sauce no toppings, nothing. It was just a dry bun with some dry gravel like lentils which looked like they had been smooshed together in a tray then cut out into a square shape. It resembled a slab of tablet. The 'salad' that came with it were some lettuce leaves with a dressing that looked a bit like cat sick if I'm honest. The chips were ok-ish but not very crisp.
The decor and table settings are pretty worn and dated too. Doesn't look a very clean looking place really. We were also sat right next to the only other folk eating? I know the place isn't huge but there were other empty tables. Made our conversations difficult to hear and awkward.
Only positive is the staff were lovely. So it's a real disappointment that the food and interior doesn't match how nice the staff are.
Sorry Pitcairngreen Inn it was a huge swing and a miss for us. Won't be back unfortunately.

Village inn located just outside Perth with parking opposite. The building has an oldie world rustic style and whilst quaint there are parts in need of renovation. Upon entering it was straight into a teency ‘locals’ bar. Besieged by a dog (ok but we have a person with allergies). We had actually reserved a table so we were seated in a little room next door. It has a beautiful bay window and a fire (though it wasn’t on).
Strangely we were seated right next to the only other people in there (within touching distance) when all the other tables were free?!?! Strange covid rule.
The pleasant girl came over for our drink orders and when I mentioned cocktails she recommended a blue lagoon. I can indeed confirm it was delicious after trying it again. However they had no straws at all not a big deal but it is something they should have.
Menu is a decent choice of meals for everyone with fun names. Also offering smaller portions. Dessert menu few choices too but nothing on the night that appealed to us.
The food didn’t take long and arrived in generous proportions. Was hot & tasty.
The empty plates sat on the table for ages without being removed.
Overall this meal was incredible value for money. The food was good & generous portions. The service could have been better. I’d still probably give it a second visit.

Literally just back from a Christmas dinner here and we are absolutely stuffed! The portions were huge to us and everything was piping hot. The beef and the tablet cheesecake definitely lived up to the hype🤤 I don’t typically eat mash either, but you’s may have turned me with that garlic mash. Wish I had been sooner, because I will definitely be back. 10/10

Took a turn to the pitcairngreen inn instead of Dobbies for lunch. With all the weirdness of covid 19 it was a welcoming atmosphere for both me and Koby (springer spaniel) I was asked if Koby was allowed a treat as we walked through the door. Shown to my table and my drink came with a bowl of water for the dog.
Friendly staff and we were made to feel welcome.
What did I have?
Steak & Ale Pie
Garlic bread and cheese
Speed of service
We were sat and eating within 25 minutes of sitting down so this was easily excellent speed of service
Quality of food
Simply to die for, continuing the rustic theme the chips where rustic chips with skins sill on. The steak pie was tender and hot with a nice mix of flavours garnished with some broccoli.
Atmosphere
A traditional village pub with an old Scots rustic feel but with well maintained interior. A big fireplace in the dining room, I would imagine it would be really atmospheric if lit in the evening with a few friends. With friendly staff to boot a lovely pub which should be getting more attention from locals across Perth.
Cost
Reasonable, especially given the atmosphere and quality of the food (circa £15 for the above plus a pint of Diet Coke).
Summary
An excellent local pub that is totally dog friendly with excellent food. Worth a visit.

Went with a group today, the service was excellent and both waiting staff cheerful and chatty. The flat iron steak was perfectly cooked and the guys having burgers were delighted and the fish and chips lovely. Sadly the curried cauliflower burger from the specials board was so unpleasant to look at I couldn’t even taste it, not what I expected. Limited vegetarian choices on the menu so overall great for meat and fish lovers but not so great if vegetarian.

We were staying in Perth but couldn't find any local pubs or restaurants that were dog friendly until we found the Pitcairngreen Inn, a short drive out of town.
There was a decent size car park across the road and, as we'd booked, we were shown straight to our table with good COVID-19 restrictions in place. We ordered drinks and food which were served by a very friendly and helpful lady and we thoroughly enjoyed it all.
I had a fantastically cheesy Macaroni Cheese (Glad to see it listed that way, not Mac & Cheese!) with ham, and my wife had a Burger with Bacon and Cheese which were good value and very filling.
Our dog enjoyed it too and was offered water and doggie treats as well.
One thing to note is that due to it being out in the country we had no phone signal and there's no WiFi, so we were uncontactable and had to talk to each other!

Fab little hidden treasure in village just outside of perth, on a bus route & parking opposite. Hoped for a wee change on the menu but nothing. Only as we’ve eaten there a few times. Partner had special soup with sides of chips & macaroni. (Chips side more chips than normal dish)Other dish was fish & chips. The food was nice, not the best we’ve had there. However remembered to save room for desert. Without doubt the cheesecake never disappoints. Was expecting after eight but it was Turkish delight oh my goodness what a drought it was indeed. !! Delish. Happily return for cheesecake alone.

We shared four crostini toasts between us. All excellent. Sourdough toast with mackerel pate, hummus and feta, Parma ham with garlic tomatoes, and hot creamy mushrooms. Decent pint to wash them down too
