Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Caprice is (was) one of my favourite places to eat in town. However, last night's meal was awful. My wife's fajita was burnt and was served with 3 over-large tortillas which were cold. the accompaniments (cheese, salsa and guacamole) were miniscule and the salsa...was like a jelly. My crepe looked as good as usual but it was luke warm. There was no satisfaction check until we were paying. I advised the staff that, having been a regular patron for over 20 years, this had been the worst meal we had ever had in the Caprice. Sadly, the manager had gone off shift and those left showed little or no interest in my comments. In fact there was not even an apology. Standards have been slipping for some time and we have now decided to go elsewhere in future.More

I had white bloomer tuna mayo sandwich, the bread was not fresh and it was not white bloomer it was a malt colour. The waitress forgot to give us cutlery! The main reason I'm giving this review is because we were charged £3.40 for a...half pint glass of soda water no lemon or lime or ice! That's outrageous when most visitors will have driven there. When we complained staff were not interested. We will not be back and we would not recommend this place for lunch.More

Early Sunday evening and many Prestwick establishments were bubbling with the sound of families celebrating Father’s Day. Not Caprice. I went because it was quiet. It was quiet for a reason. I ate a starter and drank a beer and left. Not only was it...depressingly empty, the staff not terribly bothered and the food barely edible, but it was expensive too. Left and had a very warm welcome and tasty pizza in Vito’s along the road. And the beer was much cheaper too.More

Worst service I’ve ever experienced, walked in stood for 10 minutes and 3 different staff ignored us. Had to them ask for a table to which we were told to try find one ourselves outside when there were clearly none available.

We visited on an impromptu visit to Prestwick (3 adults, 2 children and a dog). Both the service provided (throughout our time at the bar/restaurant) and the food was also very nice (freshly made). When visiting I would definitely return.

Over priced with zero atmosphere, we were only in for drinks. 4 pints came to £24!! Walked 50 yards down the road into smugglers and it was £14 for 4 pints and a tremendous atmosphere. 1 pint of San Miguel in caprice is over a...fiver yet a pint of the same lager is £2 something in the pioneer. I don’t mind paying extra if the establishment is worth it and can make up for it in other ways but I’m afraid caprice hasn’t changed a bit in 20 years! It has now established a reputation for being overpriced with a lack of atmosphere as it’s always the least busy on the street.More

Went in tonight for a drink (a very expensive one) - A pint of Moretti and a large Pinot Grigio around £16. We were intending to have a meal and told the member of staff, but we weren't offered a menu or anything, we then...wondered why hardly anyone was eating, so we didn't chance it, however, having read the management's sarcastic replies to negative reviews on here, they seem to be in denial and obviously have no intention of taking any feedback onboard which is a shame, so I totally understand why the restaurant was almost empty while others were packed out. You can get away with being pricey, but only if your customer service and your food is first class !More

Been before and caprice is generally quite good. Today I arrived with my wife, daughter and 2 grandsons for what should have been a nice Sunday brunch treat. We arrived at 10:45. Sat in the rear away from the bar and seems to be forgotten...about. Had to go and ask for service to order our food, which we did because I had an appointment at 12. Maybe I should have said but we were taking the boys for pancakes as a treat and a spot of brunch. There was only one or two other tables in and we assumed it would be quick and easy. At 11:30 we noticed that tables that had seated after us were being served their food. Surely ours would be out soon. At 11:45 I left with no food on the table. The rest of the family stayed and ate theirs which by all accounts was okay. I paid for everything as I left including my meal which arrived on the table after I had gone. Hugely disappointing experience today in this establishment. Maybe we were just unlucky today. But we could have gone to the Wetherspoons and I wouldn’t have gone hungry. But as I paid for my meal that arrived so late I had left the restaurant, I feel it warrants a zero out of 5 but tripadvisor is making me give them at least 1.More

My boyfriend and I were looking for somewhere for drinks and food in Prestwick, luckily everywhere else was full as our late afternoon/evening in Caprice was just lovely and what we needed. We sat outside at first in the sun had some drinks (cocktails were...lovely) and the fisherman's bucket (not the best) but wasn't unedible. The lovely seagulls had alot to say but by all means weren't too bothering. We moved inside and had some chicken & chorizo pizza and cajun fries. This was delicious! So tasty. We ordered the prosecco which was reasonably priced and nice to drink. My boyfriend was on the Don Papa rum & cocktails with ginger beer which he said was one of the nicest drinks he's had. Service was fast and professional although the staff also had a nice touch of friendliness. They chated away and interacted. Not too much just a nice atmosphere. We ended up staying in Caprice all night as it was so comfortable and really had no need to move anywhere else. We will definitely be heading back when we next get a baby sitter!More

On menu it had Pancakes and Waffles with choice of toppings for £6.95 asked if we could have a half portion for a child and just with butter and jam. Plate came with three small pancakes and a portion of butter and jam. When bill...came we were charged the £6.95 for a full portion. When we queried it and said we asked for a half portion we were told that the chef did make a half portion but we have to be charged for a full portion what a RIP OFF. No wonder they hardly ever have anyone in.More
