I went to Star Anise for an early bird last week. The food was really lovely. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. The goat's cheese starter should not be missed. My husband had the most succulent chicken ever for his mains. The panacotta and coffee creme brûlée were both excellent. Going back again this week!

I love this place, petite, lovely staff and warm atmosphere. Beatiful menu, you won't go home feeling hungry and the creme brulee is to die for! Tried it in various other place, just not the same... Needs to be booked well in advance but well worth the wait. Why are still reading this review... Get booking! And say hi to... More

We visited here nearly 4 years ago and were very pleased with the food and value. as we were staying the area around McCurtain Street we poped in for an early bird menu. It was just as good as before. Considering the value of the early bird the food is exceptional. It may be rustic for some peoples expectations but... More

Nice restaurant, ok location and a little tight seating wise but overall nice. Did the early bird which is good value and ran all evening on the Thursday that I visited. We ate here on the recommendation that it was the best in Cork, as I say it was nice, good value but I wouldn't rank it amongst the best... More

This tiny spot makes a big impression on your palette. The portions are more towards Irish tastes than French, so it might be best to share an entrée. The duck breast was really good and their preparation of vegetables was better than my favorite restaurants in the USA. Two courses for 25 euro is a real deal, too.

Expectations may have been too high. Food was very good, but was marred by some unusual practices I wasn't prepared for. For example, I have never had the size portion of pork belly I was served before. It was simply too much, and too rich without anything on the plate to balance it. Awesome space and design. It was very... More

When to the place last night with a few of our Irish folks in the office and I have to say the place is still good since my last visit like 6 years ago. I ordered the chicken as my dish and it came out perfectly. Tender and juicy. I had a poached peach dish as my desert and it... More

I visited Cork again after 5 years since I had last been , and decided to go back for diner to one of the places I used to love when living there. I think it is probably one of the longest established restaurant in the city by now. Well it certainly did not disappoint the food and service were exquisite... More

I went there with someone who had highly recommended the place. By the end of the meal I was disappointed as was she. The food lacked flavour and in general quite bland. The duck was good however but had nothing else supporting it. I don't cook so great but thought I could match the quality especially the vegetables. Again bland... More

I enjoyed a lovely meal here with other members of my family. The food is really great. The Early Bird Menu is very good value with a good choice of dishes. The Staff are all very welcoming and helpful. Our meal was accompanied by a basket of hot white and brown bread, which many restaurants do not give you automatically.... More
