Great restaurant in cork booking recommended as it has limited seating . Had lovely starter , even the bread was fresh , good wine selection well priced , staff were lovely and friendly . Main was filler steak cooked perfectly . The cream brûlée was outstanding best I have in a long time , will be going back again :)

Went for dinner with friends on a Saturday night, we went for the early bird menu and it was delicious. The staff were really nice & friendly. The mash potato was the nicest mash I ever had! so light & fluffy.

I have eaten here again, and definitely it will to be my last visit. Availed of the early bird menu on a Saturday evening and enjoyed all three courses. Portion sizes were quite large, but very tasty. Desserts excellent, well done to the very friendly staff.

Ate here with my girlfriend. I had lamb, she had duck. My lamb was over and her duck breast was extremely tough. But as we were starving. We ate it anyway. The lady manageress was extremely rude when i told her we found the duck tough and responded by saying 'You shouldnt have eaten it then' Very cold and unapologetic.... More

Went on a Saturday night. Full. They have two sittings, so we had to confirm we would be gone by 8pm. It's a small restaurant so reservations would be recommended. Overall impression of décor is like a café . A curtain shelters those sitting nearest the door. Felt the service could have been a bit more attentive and engage with... More

Quail was the most delightful starter I've had the pleasure of eating in a long time. The owner, a lovely French lady creates a divine atmosphere in this little but dreamy restaurant in Cork.

I visited around Christmas time for dinner. First impression, the furniture and table distribution suited a cafe more than a restaurant. The menu was not varied much. We ordered the chowder, and what a pleasant surprise! it was loaded with seafood and very yummy. I also had the lemon ravioli, not annoyingly creamy and full of flavors. We also had... More

Myself and my husband visited here for our wedding anniversary meal after Christmas. We picked this restaurant after reading the good reviews. We booked it last minute the night before the date. On arriving our table was not ready although we were 5 minutes late. The waitress gave us the impression that they were not expecting us. She had to... More

Finally visited Star Anise after threatening to go for years. Very small restaurant, tables and chairs felt like cheap cafe furniture, cold draught coming in the door wasn't ideal, my starter and main was nice but nothing special, decent meal but certainly not as good as I expected

Back again to Star Anise last week. As usual it was a last minute decision/opportunity, and our first call was, can we get a table, so we called and left a message and of course Virginie called back and squeezed us in. Place full, as usual, and the service was as usual, friendly, professional, and personal. There were two large... More
