I went there with a group of friends for lunxh and the barman was so rude that we left and will never return. It is a pity as we go for lunch once a week in the local area.

Awfully rude bar staff, couldn’t wait to get us out quicker on stephens day, never felt so rushed out of a place before, told me and my friends to just revolut each other the money rather then splitting a bill for us, must have said...about 10 times they were closing trying to give us cups , definitely wouldn’t go back and neither would the large group of us there, talk about leaving a bad impression for a short period spent in this bar!More
Before asking to be seated for a drink I asked to use the toilet. The person I spoke to who introduced himself as THE manager impolitely informed me that toilets were for customers only. When I told him I was just going to have a...seat and a drink he became confrontational and rudely told me he was not going to serve me. I politely asked why. His reply was, with an authoritative manner “because I decided to do so”, and as I insisted on knowing the reasons of his rejection he went on offending me and projecting aspects of his behavior on me, stating that my ask was abusive and aggressive. I am a foreigner and might not be aware of etiquette manners in use elsewhere, therefore I found his behavior insensitive and racist. A decent lady double the age of this guy, coming from abroad, being refused to have a seat and to use the toilet on a Xmas eve afternoon when it was pouring outside, is surely the worst service and the opposite of customers care that you would expect from a pub in the heart of Dublin. The place was empty and the guy was cleaning during opening hours, all but not customers focused. I was told in a threatening tone that if I wrote this review I would never be admitted in the place again. Well, I’m glad as I’m sure Irish spirit is everything but what shown me.More
We at Against the Grain do not stand for any staff or customer alike been abused in any way. The reason the member of staff refused you from using the facilities was due to your abusive behaviour. Upon entering Against the Grain you demanded to...More
Went on a very busy Saturday night. The food was good but the service for drinks at the counter was poor. The staff behind the bar did not have a clue and were extremely slow albeit friendly. There are better pubs in Dublin.
Venue has a great vibe, fantastic and large selection of craft beers, and excellent burgers. Also large selection of takeaway beers which was handy. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and helped get us hot water to warm up a bottle (they also made us feel...welcome despite our baby screaming for a bit). It also seemed very inclusive and welcoming to everyone. Highly recommend.More
We went here because of all the non-alcoholic brews listed on their website. In reality they had like 3-4 available and none on draft. Pick it up guys, Guinness 0.0 is on draft elsewhere in Dublin. Disappointing. The pub food is competent and in no...way bad but it’s also in no way remarkable. In a town with a pub every 20 feet I think this was average.More
This spot is well worth a visit, the wide ranging choice of beers is second to none, the food is good pub fare. Service was good and friendly and the background music was second to none....
Absolutely awful place, overpriced, filthy, unfriendly and inexperienced staff. Would definitely give this place a wide berth. Plenty of nice real bars close by
The pub has a good vibe and selection - but the food was terrible (except some snacks). Worst burger in the last 5 year for sure.
Lovely friendly staff who give great advice on the beers. Had our favourite beers from a trip round Ireland here. Pity we didnt find Galway beers in Galway!!
Laid back pub with friendly staff and a good vibe. They do food as well. Not too busy or noisy and a good range of beers and ciders
A decent pub. Friendly staff who followed Covid protocol. Had a couple of the Galway Bay beers which were good. Very quiet the night we went but seemed like it's usually a lively place.
I went with a group of people for a few drinks on a Friday night from 9pm. Found the staff to be friendly, the beer to be pleasant, and the music to be decent. A very nice atmosphere, and it was much appreciated.
A non-entity type pub with expensive craft beers that seems to target hipsters, the 20-something group and simple-minded tourists.
Just had a meal there if I could even call it that. We both ordered buttermilk chicken and twice cooked chips. The chicken was dry, tasteless and had bits of gristle, not pleasant. They said marinated for 12 hours but felt like they were in...the deep frier for 12 hours! The twice cooked chips were not nice at all, tasted undercooked and raw. Staff were good so this is not a reflection on themMore
