Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went to mark my cousin's 80th birthday. The carvery lunch was very good with good choice. The lounge staff were pleasant and attentive and it was all going very smoothly until I was overcharged by approx €35,this may have occurred by being given the wrong...bill but as I was not offered a receipt I can't be sure. it did occur to me it was a bit expensive for what we had but given the occasion and the responsibility to my guests I did not query it there and then. However, on recollection of what we had I estimated that I was overcharged by €35 to €40. I presented my case to the business, initially meeting some resistance. However after showing my card statement and itemising what we had, Tim the Manager agreed to review and phoned me the following day to say that I could collect €35 a the premises. I had to return on 2 occasions to sort the issue out. To sum up it was an occasion of good food friendly and attentive lounge staff but spoiled by the overcharging issue. Make sure to receive and check your receipt before making payment. Gerry CollinsMore

Cannot believe what we were served today. The Nachos Loaded with melted hard cheese and watery nacho sauce nothing homemade about it. The mince which was only about 2 table spoons was dry and hard. Beetroot Bon bons with beetroot 3 ways, I got two...paper thin slices of beetroot and what looked like chewed up beetroot. Nothing 3 way about it. Display of dishes were embarrassing and clear there wasn’t any effort at all put into the meal. It is a disgrace to think people should pay money for this service the bill came to over €80 and it bolied my blood to hand it over. Never again will I be returning.More

Just bought some Guinness to drink, and mr and my friends were stunned by how elegant and silent the pub was. The waiters were all very friendly and kind towards us.

We were there arund 4pm I think so the place was quite empty. Food was very tasty and well prepared, and the building is cool. Menu is great and the quality of meat/fish was great. Prices are bit on the high end but it is...worth it. Will be going back.More

Experienced and friendly barmen. Lazy inattentive lounge staff. The manager needs serious work on his manners towards customers. Food is nice, albeit expensive. The drink prices are quite high.

Pleasant lunch spoiled by attitude of the manager- place began getting crowded, we were nearly finished and I ask a staff member whether they had a ventilation system and if not would they please open some windows for ventilation and safety. She told the manager,...a move was made to open a window but not completed. Whereupon he came over to us, I repeated that I’d appreciate some ventilation and he told me I could go outside to the open air dining area, I said I just would like a window open and slightly belligerently (in my opinion) was told we could sit outside. Shame that all of the diners were being placed at risk especially after the promises from public and that they’d do everything to keep people safe. Imelda GrahamMore

We go to the Yellow House regularly as it's our local for 30 odd years now. We always order some food when there. This evening we ordered a simple dish of wings with the sauce on the side as we usually do with this dish....But they came wrong, no big deal, kitchens make mistakes and we returned them. They returned with the sauce cooked further into them (popped into the fryer to cook off the sauce? ), they looked and tasted completely different to what we have EVER received before.. We  returned them again, to be approached by the owner and chef of the establishment with a single uncooked wing in his hand and a waitress beside him to receive a lecture on the making of the wing. He was not able to  understand that the wing and seasonings are lovely and not the issue, especially when cooked as we asked. But the fact they had ruined it with the sauce and then instead of preparing new ones, tried to rectify a 9euro dish by recooking them again. We didn't accept his offer to cook them again, because it came with a caveat that 'he'd come down and stand over us to get our approval'. This is the 2nd time we've ever returned food, we had sent back a pate once that tasted terrible, again he arrived down for a stewards inquiry. His behaviour and rude body language has not turned me off my local but we have certainly decided to boycott his pub food.  We took our business to another establishment that night, that cooked the simple dishes as we asked for. If you make a mistake just own up, don't lose customers since you've opened for the sake of a wing. More

Popped in for a bite to eat as heard the place was set up well for outdoor dining. There is a great outdoor area. However, the table we sat at was dirty. Sticky bits all over the table and a big lump of chicken in...the middle. Tables not cleaned regularly. Ordered our food which came pretty quickly. I had lasagna which was terrible. It must have been microwaved as parts of it were hot and other bits were barely warm. Served with mediocre chips. My companion had a nice sandwich but said he would not rush back. Waiting staff were lovely and friendly. Shame about the food.More
