After a terrible time going into bar after bar in Temple Bar only to be greeted with a great atmosphere, friendly welcoming staff and customers being allowed to enjoy drinks and social activities with their friends what a relief it was to finally discover this...establishment which isn’t afraid to go against “the norm” and provide those who enter with the complete opposite over all the horrible things listed above. Whilst sitting in the bar by the entrance, cleverly designed to feel like an unwelcoming cave (a lovely touch in my eyes) enjoying the quiet, emotionless lack of atmosphere, imagine my horror when two tourists entered with the nerve to be in good spirits having a conversation about football?! Being tourists I presumed they were drunk, and luckily for me the delight behind the bar confirmed my suspicions when confronting them about this, to which they admitted to having had THREE pints…. THREE PINTS! It’s a miracle they were still standing. At this point I started to fear for my safety. Anyone having consumed three pints is clearly a ticking time bomb but I knew I was in safe hands when the ray of sunshine on the bar made it clear she was not going to stand for any kind of atmosphere, joviality or general good time in her establishment. She was brave enough to confront these three pint consuming, good spirited, here-for-a-good-time monsters and told them their kind were not welcome here! Bravo! With a swift word in the ear to her whipping boy the riff raff were told to leave and take their horseplay and tomfoolery elsewhere. I presume they went to one of the 99.9% of establishments who actually encourage a good time and offer a warm welcome….. disgusting places. With that crisis averted I was able to go back to sitting on my own, in the quiet, pondering my existence and generally having a nice neutral time the way things should be. Kudos Auld Dubliner and kudos to you noble maiden of the bar and keeper of the peace. I shall be back in silence post haste!More
We had a very good diner here with nice live music from the Temple Bar below. The food is very good and for a good price. We were early so it was quiet but the staff was very friendly and helpful. Great experience in downtown...DublinMore
We went here on a Friday night. The bar was full when we got there around 7pm but not overly crowded. The musician was great and played some popular hits. It was raining pretty hard while we were out, which made the Temple Bar area...quite empty. We found the bartenders and the other people there were very friendly. The group behind us spilled their drinks about 3 times and the last one just about got them kicked out.More
OK it was mid afternoon. what were we expecting, drinks were served efficiently and pleasantly, the music was very ordinary, in fact, one singers lyrics were positively unrecognisable, never the less it takes a lot to do their job so hey ho,
We had a couple of hours to blow off while we waited for our room to be ready so we headed out to find a pub. The live music was what drew us in. We ordered some beer and sat down to enjoy it. Of...course, my husband was pleased with his Guinness, while I tried a porter, which was quite nice. The food looked amazing, but we weren't hungry yet. We may come back to eat before we leave Dublin!More
We popped in to this pub purely for drinks, however the live music was brilliant and it also had live sports on the TV. Great atmosphere and we lodged for a fair few hours.
My favourite pub in Dublin, within the temple bar district there’s this gem of a pub. Staff were friendly and the traditional decor was stunning. They had a live singer on when we visited and what a guy he was, typical Irish sense of humour...and made the experience better. Yes temple bar is what people get attracted to but don’t miss out of gems like this. Such a great place and 1000% recommend, will definitely attend again when I return to Dublin.More
Quite dark and hides the dirty and disgusting pub windows and mirrors need cleaning Tables sticky Toilets stink Live entertainment wasn't very good Had an average pint of Guinness then left as it just was so grimey
Went on a moderately busy Thursday evening. Couple next to me at bar ordered food, it arrived in 5 minutes and looked good. I ordered another pint and a basic burger. It took over 30 minutes to arrive. The chips were cold, my pint was...warm, and the bun was flimsy and allowed the burger to fall apart. I ended up eating the meat with a knife and fork. No follow up from staff to ask if meal ok. The place needs work.More
Had a great afternoon & evening, great live music, great range of tap beer, porter, stout. Exceptional service from Tadgh.
We came across this pub last night by chance. Our last night in Dublin. There was an excellent musician playing (I’m sorry don’t know his name) he was amazing he played for hours and worked so hard. He played something for everyone. We all had...a wonderful end of the holiday/night experience. The atmosphere was great. The bar staff were friendly and gave quick service. Not sure about the lady in the toilet giving soap and towels etc out for a small charge but that’s just something not used to. Overall a massive thank you. And please thank the musician played 4th June. Back home today sore head but happy!More
Great spot to stop off for a few pints or lunch I am sure after beating the streets and shops. Had lunch and a few pints here and more central can you not get. Lovely mix of locals and tourists.
A very busy pub in the centre of Temple Bar, with live music and a loud, party atmosphere. The staff were ok - they were very busy and rushed but they still made time for a joke and a laugh. Drinks were the average price...for the area - we didn't have food.More
Always a great night out, happy atmosphere and great music and dancing. Drinks are expensive but in line with the rest of temple bar and worth it for the atmosphere. Really friendly staff. Usually a mixed crowd and people are generally happy, some good memories...here!More
